Is it me or is PD holding some expansion or update like 2.0? I mean pictures leaked of old gt tracks on gt5, Bathurst, who knows what else they have in store. Maybe improved damage models, or a couple premiumized car such as the r8 lms.

No one really knows the answer to this question, it is best you wait. ^^

Plus I always see race cars with gt5 logos on them which makes me wonder if those might be remodeled for gt5 or even gt6

This doesn't mean anything, they're just advertising. There's Porsches running around the Nurburgring with the GT logo slapped on them, and we obviously aren't getting those in this game anytime soon.
Just be patient, and try not get your hopes up, because they might end up crushed. Not trying to sound negative here, but you're setting the bar pretty high if you're expecting something like a second Spec II update.

The huge silence by PD these days means 2 things: something big or big trouble.

Kaz said they're preparing GT Academy 2012... but I believe its not only that.

BUT, being a GT fan, we must learn to not set our expectations too high... after some frustration in the past I prefer to chill out and see what happens. Last DLC was a good surprise for me, but I was kinda disappointed with Car Pack 2... bought it anyway.

In the end, PD always got something special to show. The only problem is the gigantic ammount of time it takes to happen, sometimes.

If my memory serves me right, I think Kaz mentioned on one of his tweets that they have a lot of materials for GT5. I think that was two months ago.

I have this sneaking suspicion that when GT6 does come out, it will be the dominator of all racing games.

They're, definitely, holding something back. Content and more content. They can't release everything they have in the "backlog" of materials they have available. Every 2nd GT game had a huge amount more content than the 1st. Not that they were holding back, but DLC + updates weren't possible. If anything, DLC will mess with the hype of GT6. Updates don't do that, unless they release a completed livery editor (seems as though they can't/won't release it in an update) and other such things for GT5.

It was in an interview. There's a video of it on youtube.

Yeah I mean PD always keeps things on the downlow which keeps giving me thoughts of what they have lined up for gt6 or dlc for gt5
I don't see a problem if they don't want to say anything. Patience isn't even needed.

By that, I mean go on about your time (the people that are getting a little restless with the non-communication) like there weren't DLC + updates available in the past and you won't feel anxious about the non-tweets and non-promos.

I would hope they are holding stuff back. GT5 doesn't need any more huge updates. They should concentrate on putting all that extra stuff into GT6. Where's the fun in playing GT6 knowing it's exactly the same as the last GT5 update?

Well it's obvious that they are holding some content back. I mean for one, we already know that they've modeled the alpha mito and have more than likely finished model the HSV-10 that was supposed to be in the game from the beginning if I'm not mistaken. Who knows what other type of "content" they have ready for us. All we can do is wait.

What's the fun in waiting for GT6 when you can still get a lot out of GT5? I can't understand how so many people are already speculating about GT6 and sort of hinting towards PD to just stop updating and release GT6 earlier, seriously I feel like I just got the game, there's still a lot of months left in it to play. There are still tracks I've never raced on let alone cars I haven't touched.

If there are still tracks you've never raced on you probably have just got the game.

Disclaimer: if you're referring to the 100 variations of Chamonix, they're not that good. :p

I don't think we'll see GT6 on this generation of PS. The current system is maxed out. They'll throw us a few bones along the way to keep the revenue flowing.

The fun will be that GT6 is on PS4 (in my opinion). Finally the hardware will be able to handle graphics appropriately and a full field of cars should be possible. (think 50 cars at Le Mans or Nürburgring - drool)

Until then they can earn tons of money with DLC.

Yes all the Chamonix and even many normal circuits. Just haven't had the time, been too busy with Nürburgring.

I haven't driven the Enzo/Veyron/LMP race cars specifically/most race cars/half of the premium Tuner cars. I've just recently started using the snow track layouts and dirt tracks. Thank god for Course Maker. A lot of people hate the extreme amount of credits we get for Seasonal Events, I think that's silly, as you can see. Not everybody can play GT the way I have, but each way has its pros/cons.

For some reason, my DFGT get's really stiff when I enter rally tracks. It never used to do that, so I had to stop rallying because it was clear that the motor would weaken way more than I've weakened it. I've had a DFGT since January '11, GT5 since launch.

I seriously don't think the PS3 is anywhere near being "maxed out".

Developers just haven't unlocked its full potencial because:

- when designing a multi-platform game, developers use the X-Box 360 as the lowest common denominator, since it's technically inferior and easier to program for. So the PS3 gets held back on multi-platform games;

- regarding PS3 exclusives, I don't think developers have fully mastered designing for the PS3 yet, because of it being harder or just plain different. No doubt PD and, for example, Naughty Dog, have taken hardware use to a whole new level, but I still think there's plenty of uncharted territory to discover. (pun intended :D)

That being said, though, I still think PD will choose to prolong GT5's life through DLC, rather than develop a new game for the PS3.

I suspect there's just so much content they want to put in GT6 that they won't have the time to do it in the PS3's lifespan. :dopey:

Don't forget that Camaro thats coming to GT5. Kaz said it WILL be in GT5.

I think GDC(Game Developer Conference) is going on these days but nothing about GT from Sony. However I think GT6 announcment at E3 is on cards :)

I wouldn't expect it ^^^. We all know what GT is about, so unless they introduce something dramatically new, there won't be anything about GT at E3.

That's true, but the things that those two developers have to take into account are very different.

PD haven't maxed out the PS3, but with the graphical shortcomings like screen tear and framerate drops, it'll be tough to improve those kind of things on the PS3. Not enough RAM is a great, obvious reason, but Kaz has mentioned that before.

Oh, almost forgot. People will think "PD had 6 years". Well, that'll show you that the PS3 simply can't handle it. Then, they'll say "PD/Kaz is lazy/incompetent/stubborn, they need to fire Kaz and hire more workers". To that, I say

What leads you to believe it isn't maxed out or close to it?

Not saying I know, I'm not a developer but we are starting to see a plateau in games. U3 was not a leap over U2, especially not like U2 was over Drakes Fortune. In some ways GT5 performs worse than Prologue did. This console life cycle feels like it's gone on forever and to me it feels like we need something fresh and new.

Not our fault you are behind. :) PD has supported this game a lot more than I ever thought they would. It's had plenty of updates and its the first GT game on this console. Its time to move on.

Faith. I'm a true believer. :D

I just can't accept that that little Cell doesn't have anything else left hidden in it...

Then again, I might just be in denial... :ouch:

Naughty Dog said that the Uncharted 3 use 99% of the ps3.

The current Gen is maxed out. I want to See about 64 Cars on Track in High quality etc. In GT6.

I think PD Hide something :)

"PD holding something back?"

Yes. They will not Release all the Content they Create. They Need Content etc. for GT6.
