Hi GTP, this is my first post here, so I hope it is relevant.

Lately it seems that multiple minor leaks have been occurring regarding GT6, with Michael Denny saying it would be on PS3, and more recently, cars being scanned, and the title for the album being "Scansione Per Gran Turismo PS4"...

First of all, I find it strange that the vice president of Sony Studios Europe would slip like that, and not realize that GT6 was not announced, and secondly that the italian manufacturer would be so stupid to label their photo album GT PS4...

The reasoning for PD intentionally do this? Well, it generates a lot of buzz for the game, as media outlets eat the info up and write stories on it. It is basically free advertising, and ingrains 'Gran Turismo 6' into peoples brains.

The last game in my memory that seemed to do this was Assassins Creed 3. Months before it was officially announced, different 'leaks' said the game would take place in Egypt, then the French Revolution. Later, the cover for the game was leaked, and the hype was at insane levels at that point. Because Ubisoft had gotten everyone confused about the game's setting, when the true setting was actually shown, there was even more hype for the game.

I think PD is doing the same thing right now, having little pieces of info slip out in order to generate buzz and news stories. If it is true it seems like a good strategy to me, what do you guys think?

To me PD has not "leaked" anything.
These things just happen. Events Kaz. attend, PD workers collecting Data from Cars/Tracks, etc. It's just people non-PD related giving out some info.

A few of us have been thinking this very thing. It's definitely creating a buzz. Some polarization too, some grousing that GT6 needs to be on PS3, some of us preferring a PS4 edition. We may even get both versions.

There is some healthy buzz for all the PS4 games, but I'm thinking the GT6 leaks may overshadow them all. But whatever keeps gamers attention on Playstation and Gran Turismo has to make SONY pretty happy. And if this is true - quite likely - there will be more. Sounds like good times to me. ;)

I don't always post the same thing twice, but when I do, there there is a post in between.

 sorry, carry on.

Yeah... that is pretty crazy. Sandwiched between a double post, and all three at 1:12am. :dopey:

Anyhow, I do think this is going to be the wildest, coolest build up to E3 ever. Looking forward to it.

I was wondering the same thing.

Anyway. Don't trust these leaks until it comes from the maker itself. Pretty much my reaction to all of these so called "leaks" is proof or it didn't happen. Not to mention "leaks" today are more like un-panning rumors. I don't believe every slip up or whatever to be a leak. Up to you but in my opinion neither should you

Don't trust the leaks until they come to fruition. The manufacturer is just as motivated to lie as anybody else. The only question is what the lie is.

PD intentionally 'leaking' GT6 info?

No. If they want information out there, they can just say so. There is no point in "leaking" it in such a way that only a small handful of people will ever hear about it. Release information to millions, not scribble it on a sheet of toilet paper and leave it in a restroom stall.

"Getting it onto the internet puts it out there to millions." No, it's available to millions, but won't be seen by millions. Had I not seen this topic I wouldn't have heard of these "leaks" and I'm in the small minority of GT fans that visit GT boards.

Sadly in today's media and electronics age Kaz could be on the bog in his house and say out loud "I think I'll release GT6 in Q4 of this year" (in his native language of course) and someone somewhere would have it on recording, video, or overheard it and get in seconds it'd be the talk of the town. It'd blow up to "We're getting GT6 this year!"

For this reason, I take the 'slips' or 'leaks' with a grain of salt. Wait for an official press release before thinking something is true.

It's called marketing folks. The more they do this, the more publicity (hopefully positive) it brings. It keeps customers coming back. But I don't know why, GT5 has a giant fan-base.

IMO there is a POINT, which is that sometimes if you give small bits of "not so sure if true" info, it peaks your curiosity, then people talk about it which is what they would want. If they release info that you know to be true then you stop talking about it sooner.

I don't think these so-called leaks were intentional.

For months before the release of GT5 we saw Sony executives talking about features that never existed, so the significance of some guy saying something like that doesn't mean anything.

The second "hint" was posted on Facebook by somebody not associated with PD or Sony, who knows even less about development of the game, and decided to name his album a certain way. And even if they were scanning for a GT game on PS4, who says it's the next GT-game to be released? It could be GT7...

PD can keep their secrets pretty well, but, please, not everything is a giant conspiracy. So far we know nothing.

Why would they leek? They get all the attention they need when they show the game.

Leeking false info is just contra productive as it creates hype for features that doesn't exist and that ultimately will just disappoint people.
