A “Performance Difference Adjustment” has been added to the rewards for seasonal events (Applies only to seasonal events held after this update).

Nobody is talking about this so I decided to make a thread.

So far we know little about this new feature. But what really is this P.D.A? I'm thinking of something, but hope I'm not getting way to ahead:

-Seasonals won't have a pp limit except maybe for certain parameters like "only street cars," "only race cars," "only a specific country or manufacturer." The prizes will depend on what type of car you choose. The game will automatically choose your oponents based on you car. Much like Arcade mode.

This could mean that PD has been listening and we will be getting something close to an Event Generator, except that PD will only put the tracks that we'll race on. And it really makes sense since this feature won't be implemented in the current seasonals, which means that something will be changed drastically with future events.

I really don't know about this. Maybe I'm getting way ahead of myself and it's only something as simple as getting a prize depending on how close you are to the PP limit, but still, if this was the case, they could've implemented it in current Seasonals.

What do you guys think?

Silly me. But still, this new PDA thing is quite interesting. It feels like the game now challenges you to do your best with the least pp possible which adds a new different way of having fun with GT5.

Feel free to post here your greatest achivements with the new PDA system.

I'm wishing it to be back to the old days where you gained more Rewards in Cash for the slower cars you raced! I can't wait to do some Classic Old School Japanese Touring Car Racing in my Mugun Civic Si '87 :)

You know, this is what I'm thinking it will be all about. But it's funny that they are not implementing it already with current Seasonals.

I think (or rather fear) we are being to optimistic with our prospects again, hoping that PD would try to make the race format better...

Probably the formula and opponents will stay exactly the same, but more money or extra prices will be rewarded the lower PP your car has. for example 50 PP less than max is +130% credits and a extra pink racing suit :)

It will be exactly like we had in GT4, where you get less prize money, and less pp if your car is way above that of the ai. Not hard to figure out..... Surely?

Maybe I misread it, at first I also thought it looked like some cool event generator where your opponents will match what car you choose, but doesn't the news item mention it as a prize for seasonals? If so, I am a little worried that it might simply be a performance upgrade that will appear in your items, like when you gift upgrades to others.

Also thinking about the event generator thing, i'm not sure I actually like that, as it would make it impossible to choose a car simply for a greater, or lesser challenge. Whatever car you choose, the level of difficulty would be similar, which is a backwards step if anything.

Are we talking about A-Spec points in GT4? They weren't really worth anything, except "bragging rights" for whoever had the biggest pile of them, stashed away somewhere in their garage.
It was a useful, if flawed, metric at least, so I'm eager to see what they do with this new system.

My best guess is, if your car needs to be at a certain PP level, you can select the PP for the car and the computer will lower the car to that level, but it will maximize the performance. For cars like the X2010-11, if you want to bring it down to say, 170PP it won't work because (obviously) X2010's can't go that far down.

Is there some way to use this feature in the game yet? Or it's for future events?

It will only take effect from the next seasonal onwards, = tomorrow.

In my opinion, PD needs to take some lessons on communication and start using their new found skills to come up with some better explainations of stuff like this so we don't have to waste time speculating about it.

Dude that's the best part!

if you break down the phrase they used to describe this:

A “Performance Difference Adjustment” has been added to the rewards for seasonal events (Applies only to seasonal events held after this update).

It's an adjustment of the reward depending on the performance of your car. As mister dog said it's going to be a percentage increase of the reward. I don't think the event structure will change at all.

I think keyword is Performance, lose points for Ramming and Corner cutting (NOT currently penalised in OLASPEC), as well as rewards for clean passes , car PP and split time.

Me thinks/hopes.

LINE BREAKING NEWS

New PDA seasonal is online, a 5 race event featuring 430pp FF cars on SH, 1st place 150k average.
"400pp will net you roughly 2x prize money"

Finally! We are rewarded for our skill!
1st race 7 laps at Tsukuba, im in a 98 DC2 on CM ABS+TCS=0 405pp.
Im first by end of 6th lap, AI is nothing like Arcade w 10aggression, but starting last of 12 makes up for it.
No rabbits!! In the end i rake in 250k x2 for daily bonus 500k to have a blast with my DC2 and evenly matched cars, very satisfactory.

All i can say is where have these been all this time?? I Know i can make a Mill for 6 minutes @ the ring, but this PDA is just so much more fun and internally rewarding.

PS, gold them all for an RM DC5 coupon!

THIS ,PD! THIS!

Well..... It looks like........ I was right :)

Step 1: Get a Prius TC.
Step 2: Do NOT change the oil.
Step 3: Put power limiter to 50%. (70% for daytona)
Step 4: Put Ballast to 200,-9
Step 5: Put downforce to minimum
Step 6: Get the right tires
Step 7: ???
Step 8: Profit!

PDA Will give you about 3 or 4x more and you'll destroy the AI in every race with a 365 to 370 PP car (400 in Daytona.)

Where in GT4 did you get more money for using slower cars? I must have missed it (genuinely).

In GT4 there was A-Spec points.
Its a personal challenge to win any race with 200a-spec points

That's what I thought. Thanks.

This new system is sounding promising, it might get me interested in the seasonal events again.

this (PDA) can only be a good thing, I just wish tyre choice was factored into the PP equation.

Yes it does sound promising. In the past, although I have a wheel, I ran the Seasonals with a DS3, with a low enough PP to be challenging but not too difficult as I considered them more of a chore. Now I might go back to the wheel and run them a couple of times to see how low I can get my PP level because there's a measuring stick now and something to compete against. Be interesting to see if people post their setups and car choices and if it becomes a contest to see who gets the maximum reward.

Wouldn't it be great if PD tallied the results like they do with the TT's, and kept a leaderboard of rewards and in it was the car choice just like in the TT's?!?! When is PD gonna learn that racers love to compete, we love stats, and the world is the biggest stage of all?!?!

You get a bonus on XP too.

Tyres - Either you are a big fluffy Softy or you are Hard as Nails...

Medium - does anyone use these?

I'm going to disagree on the leaderboards. I'm a fan of data, but only personal data. Not someone elses.

Ryk

Depending on the car, yes I use Sports or Racing Medium sometimes although overall I think the lesser tyres have become much more grippier in recent updates, maybe to counterbalance the increased wear.

The tires in this first PDA event are limited to sports hard, so there's not really a choice there. Just grab a Prius TC and go to town on these things.

As far a tires go, people are saying they have no effect on the PDA rewards.

Sorry I haven't confirmed this myself, but seems to make sense since tire choice doesn't factor into PP calculations.

I'm loving the new PDA rewards though!

I guess I was getting ahead of myself. At the end it was the most logical explanation. I do like this new reward system though it hardly makes the experience different for me in my humble opinion.

The new seasonals were a lot of fun and really hard to be honest. I only managed to gold the easiest ones which were the Daytona and Cape Ring one using the Countryman and a Golf MKIV. Both with Comfort Softs and less than 415pp. The new PDA system does reward you quite a bit since I got almost 100,000Cr. extra in each golded event, but it's really not that big of a difference. It just makes things slightly different. What I appreciate is that you do get more EXP points which they are much needed now that I'm in level 37.

I'll try them again with Sports Hards and see if the reward doesn't change because of it.
