People keep complaining

Where's the DBR9? I also found it odd that unless I want to race an F1 or a vintage, Ferrari has no race cars.

I imagine those are more issues with Aston and Ferrari handing a DBR9 or FXX or any racecar over to PD, than PD just not wanting to add them to the game.

Is it just me, or are the DLC Touring Cars essentially extra RM cars. They've got that similar package added on to them, and they seem pretty similar. With the DLC, you basically get a bunch of RM Skylines, and some others. So yeah, just get them :P

Yes they are time consuming, which is why alot of people are complaining. If they take so long and is as time consuming as Kaz says it would have been nice to see them focus on more variety of premiums instead of the thousands of hours spent with having so many Skylines, street verison, academy verisons, JGTC verisons, GT500 verisons, different sized wheels verisons, sun roof verisons, power seat/non-power seat, power side mirrors, HID headlights/non-hid lights, spoil/non spoiler, on and on its

Without counting DLC; one R32, one R33, one R34, two R35 road cars. The Spec V would have taken a fraction of the time of the others, since it is nigh-on identical to the base '07 model. The SuperGT cars? They're unique paint jobs, they're all the same car underneath. The DLC Skylines added in wouldn't have taken too long either since they could all be based on an existing model. The Premium GT-R models that probably did take the longest? The TC DLC, ironically enough; which are essentially RM's.

Thats also not counting the standard models of Skylines. But yet we can only have one modern Mustang as a premium with no others? No Jaguar XJ200 which was the first production car to ever hit 220mph. The 1967 Ford GT40 Mk2 which whooped Ferrari at Le Man and won 1,2,3. Bugatti Veyron which was the fastest production car EVER but yet its not premium.

As I already covered in my earlier post, counting the Standards is irrelevant since they would have taken next to no time other than some optimization.

The Veyron genuinely puzzles me, it really does. The others? PD had other priorities than you or I.

Seems to me there was more than enough time to set aside for other priorities. I'm sure in the time they took to model so many Skylines they could have done another 15-20 RMs for cars. Ferrari F430 as the Le Man GT2 car, Viper as the GTS-R Le Man winning car, McLaren F1 as the 1997 Le Mans GT1 car, some of the sedans/wagons could have been made as Speed Channel Touring cars or BTCC, DTM, ect...

So you'd suggest they sacrifice pretty much all of the Premium Skylines to get an extra 15-20 RM's in the game? I'm even one of the people who thinks there's too many in the game, but considering the car's historical importance and close ties to GT and PD itself, nope, don't see that happening.

As for the wishlist/suggestions; we don't know if those were even options for PD. Getting the F430 GT2 would require more license discussions with Ferrari. Considering the lack of GT2 machinery in the game, perhaps PD didn't see much point in including the car? All we can do is guess :).

That's how I've looked at them the entire time 👍

Yes I think so, they are paintable and you can change the number... exactly the same as a premium RM car.

Yes it is strange. Many significant cars are missing from the game. Cars that ANY motorsports fans would be going through the game looking for are no where to be found.

I imagine those are more issues with Aston and Ferrari handing a DBR9 or FXX or any racecar over to PD, than PD just not wanting to add them to the game.

Maybe they figured PD and Kaz are too busy playing around with Skylines and Suzuki Caps to be bothered with the DBR9, FXX, ect...

Guess Forza doesn't waste an opportunity to grab up some new cars, as all these cars PD doesn't have, are in other games.

Its funny Aston let Top Gear BBC have the DBR9 and Ferrari brought the FXX to the Top Gear show. Renault brought there F1 car and let one of the hosts drive it around a track. I found it hard to believe they don't trust PD with there cars. Its not like Kaz himself just has to drive the car to put it in the game. They just install computer systems and sensors all over the car and drive it around on tracks, test areas ect.... A factory racer from Aston could do that.

That's how I've looked at them the entire time 👍

I wouldn't take out all the Skylines but what they've included as premiums is many times more than alot of other cars in the game. I mean its ok for 1 mustang, only 2 Cameros, but we have to have like 10-12 premium Skylines?

The Skyline isn't very historically important hell just untill a few years ago it wasn't even sold in North America and it had to be imported without engines to get into NA and then you had to buy the engine separate. Europe never really had much Skylines either. Its never one a triple crown endurance race (Dayton 24 back when it ment something, Sebring, Le Mans) it doesn't compete in GT1 or GT2 class at Le Man or in the states, its not the highest selling car, its not the longest car in production, it hasn't to my knowledge beat or set any kind of World Record (maybe for number of Skylines in PD game :dopey:).

PD has included a TONS of worthless cars, GT300 cars for example. Theres older GT-1 cars, Corvette C5R, Viper GTS-R, Lister Storm. So saying theres a lack of GT2 cars, so that means theres no reason to add one doesn't make much sense.

I just kind of wonder how many cars will be left out of GT6 in order to get all those standard Skylines in GT5 to premium. I'm sure we'll go to the Ford car lot as example and see maybe 2 mustangs and then go to Nissan and see rows and rows of Skylines.

I didn't say it's OK, but I do see why that is. Like I pointed out too, a lot of the premium Skylines are duplicates, so they didn't exactly take as much time to create as, say, a fourth-gen Camaro would.

The Skyline isn't very historically important hell just untill a few years ago it wasn't even sold in North America.

The Mustang and Camaro aren't officially sold elsewhere, does that make them unimportant? ;)

Europe never really had much Skylines either.

Nor Mustangs, Camaros, and Vettes.

Very few drivers have, to say nothing of individual cars.

it doesn't compete in GT1 or GT2 class at Le Man or in the states,

It did however compete in the European GT1 class, and there's a Nismo GT3 version in the works.

its not the highest selling car, its not the longest car in production, it hasn't to my knowledge beat or set any kind of World Record (maybe for number of Skylines in PD game :dopey:).

I'd call this a pretty substantial Motorsports pedigree, though. Again, it's a very important car in Japan.

PD has included a TONS of worthless cars, GT300 cars for example. Theres older GT-1 cars, Corvette C5R, Viper GTS-R, Lister Storm. So saying theres a lack of GT2 cars, so that means theres no reason to add one doesn't make much sense.

It's your opinion GT300 cars are worthless. As there's a fair amount of them, I quite enjoy their inclusion since they can make for interesting races. Shall I say every car you suggest is worthless?

I'm saying that could be one of any number of reasons as to why PD didn't include an F430 GT2. Perhaps Ferrari said no? Perhaps PD wasn't interested. Nobody knows.

I just kind of wonder how many cars will be left out of GT6 in order to get all those standard Skylines in GT5 to premium. I'm sure we'll go to the Ford car lot as example and see maybe 2 mustangs and then go to Nissan and see rows and rows of Skylines.

Considering the bulk of the silly duplicate Standard Skylines can be created quite easily and quickly based off the existing Premium models, it wouldn't take much time. That said, I doubt we'll be seeing a return of every single model year like the current Standard ranks; Kaz has heard the criticisms of this approach to car lineup counting, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a much smaller stable the next go-round.

So we're "tagged" as complainers because someone has a different opinion than you?

Most people that give their opinions about the game do it because they know it could be much better than it is. GT5 also could easily satisfy the people wanting to drive a stock car as well those wanting a 1000hp Samba bus. All that needs to be done is give us options that way we all are happy.

I'm not tagging you as a complainer I'm just saying that there are many people complaining about the rm. the game is what it is, so play if you like it or don't play

Explain to us then why the complaints are not valid. "Because there are already loads of race cars" is not a valid reason, FYI.

If people want racecars. There are racecars for you. I'm just saying that rm isn't the only racecar

I imagine those are more issues with Aston and Ferrari handing a DBR9 or FXX or any racecar over to PD, than PD just not wanting to add them to the game.

So they are willing to "hand it over" to the makers of -

*GRID
*NFS SHIFT
*Supercar Challenge
*Forza
*GTR Evolution

But they draw the line at Polyphony?

Wish, no way I still would like PD to keep on maintaining this game and make it better in the future.

Wouldn't it be weird Gt5 being owned by another game maker while Gt6 is going to be owned by Pd

If people want racecars. There are racecars for you. I'm just saying that rm isn't the only racecar

No, that is not a valid reason. Wanting more cars that can be transformed into generic race cars is not nullified by there already being official pre made race cars. Plus there is the point there are hundreds of car models not having a race model.

So in conclusion you have no reason on that people asking for more RM cars are unjustified in doing so.

I'm not tagging you as a complainer I'm just saying that there are many people complaining about the rm. the game is what it is, so play if you like it or don't play

Ah, the old False Dichotomy argument.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_dilemma

Those are are only two choices are they? :dopey:

The obvious third choice, not that there are only three choices, would be to both play the game and complain that it's not what it should have been; or more specifically what it was advertised to be pre-launch.

Just to let you know, and to restate what I said before; I was not on these boards complaining about the game, in fact, had not even mentioned Race Modifiable Cars until this topic was made.

I can only speak for myself, but even though I would have liked to have seen more RM cars in the game, I hadn't actually voiced an opinion on it until you decided to gripe about people who have legitimate complaints about the game. I would be willing to bet that I'm not the only one who started complaining in response to this topic.

The fact is that PD announced "The Return of Racing Modifications" before GT5 came out. Anyone who had played, or at the very least knew how GT2 worked assumed that it would be like GT2 and most of the cars in the game could be modified as racecars. Those people got their hopes up upon reading the announcement.

Then they bought GT5. They bought a car that they like. They went to GT Auto. They clicked the RM button. They got a message saying that this car couldn't be modified. They got another car. Tried it with the same results. Then another, and another. They went online to find out what the hell could be modified, only to find out that less than 1.33% of the cars in the entire game could be modified.

For some reason, you seem to think that those people should just shut up about it and not be upset that they couldn't fancy up their favorite cars, or that they should be satisfied with being mislead by the pre-launch hype. Your reasoning? Because you don't want to hear people complain.

Guess what? You're complaining. You have a right to just as much as anyone else on this board. However, where your complaining differs from the others is that you are trying to discourage (trying to be kind to you on this one) others from having an opinion and their right to voice it.

You've invited more complaints by creating this topic than you've quashed, which seems to be your original goal. You've brought people into this. They've joined the bandwagon now. They are complaining, when they just kept it to themselves as a personal irritation with the game.

Good job. 👍

To turn your False Dichotomy around on you:

If you don't like the complainers; you can be happy that there's a place for them to voice their opinions, or you can just stay off the Internet. See how that works? :sly:

So to see 17 was disappointing, not even in comparison to the entire 1000+ car lineup (because, speaking personally, I didn't expect them to be compatible with Standards)
Though there isn't really any reason why they couldn't have done that, so if someone did it's not like it's a totally out there idea.

Well said Sir!! It's amazing how many people set up the "there are only two options and either one makes you look like an idiot" argument...lol..and can't see that there are other options. I think that's why a lot of people don't get me or other people who don't see the world as black and white but as three dimensional. I love the game, I think overall it's very good, heck I'm still playing after 2 years, but I can also see room for improvement all over the place because the game is good, not perfect, and no I don't have to settle:sly:

I keep hearing abut every1 saying that PD is bad because they only made a small few of car race modifiable. Don't u realsie that there are already racecars in the game - Le Mans f1 gt and others there probably 100. So in my option stop complaining. Anybody else agree

17 may be a bit weak when you consider.........wait for it............NFS and Forza. You can RM all cars right down to the Chevy panel van in the FM series. But to complain with over 1050 cars in GT5, I'm sure one could find themselves a full on race car somewhere to fly around a track.

With all of the time that it took for this game to be released, it does make me wonder what they did actually spend time doing.

My biggest problem with the game, overall, is that the previous GT games were always one of the best, if not the single best looking game on the system, for their time.

All of the development time and I can name probably 30 PS3 games off the top of my head that look better than GT5. You couldn't do that with GT2 and especially not with GT4.

I have a Fat PS3, so I can still run GT4. It runs in full 1080p and the replays still look good. In fact (mostly to do with the framerate) they look more realistic (although lower rez) than GT5's replays.

One could argue that the physics in this game are much more complex than GT4, but if you play both, it sure doesn't feel significantly different. In other words, I don't see such a vast difference that would cause the game to have to drop resolution and framerate because there's just too much the system is doing. I'm sure it's doing more than GT4, but it's also doing it on a much more powerful system. PD pushed what the PS and the PS2 could do, but seems to almost be resting on its proverbial laurels.

I own games that have much more going on in them processing and graphics-wise that look much better than this. Full 1080p and high framerate without glitching or lagging out. I dunno, but I definitely expected more from the people who got so much more out of the earlier systems.

Does the game look terrible? Absolutely not. Could it have looked a lot better? Definitely. I'm not sure what that deal is.

The GT games were always games that you could pop in and show non-gamers a good reason why you own a PS. This game doesn't do that for people. They can easily say, "Meh. I've seen better."

With all of the time that it took for this game to be released, it does make me wonder what they did actually spend time doing.
The team is small, or at least was. Making a whole game engine and content for a game on a console like the PS3, takes a lot of time. That's why Turn10 outsourced so much of their work.

but if you play both, it sure doesn't feel significantly different.
...what?

Which?

I'm brand new to the game and I'm new to this discussion (I saw the link to the thread and see what someone was complaining about). I couldn't get through page 2 of the thread before I had to stop. No personal offense to anyone, but you guys are depressing me.

Perhaps it's my newness to GT in general that allows me to appreciate GT5 for what it is since I do not have prior versions to compare it to, but I just want to say that, for a person such as myself who is usually pretty detail oriented and big on the quality of the graphics/presentation of all things let alone a game, I think that GT5 is beautiful. There is a reason why they used it to demo 4K TVs. With that said, I understand complaints about Standard vs. Premiums (if one commentor's statement about it being a full-time job for 6 months to do a Premium car then I understand the constraint a little more...the time & money constraint that is), but if there's less tracks than there were on GT4 then that sucks, too, so I feel where you guys are coming from. Regarding RMs, I didn't even know what those were until I google'd it, but I can feel where you're coming from there as well; there should be more. Perhaps that is a product of time and money as well. I don't know yet if you can race modify a car yourself to a certain extent by adding a big wing or lighter rims, etc. yet but my assumption is that's a 'no' as well.

WITH ALL THAT SAID, I think it's safe to say that most every one on here is still playing the game after owning it for a very long time and that in and of itself says the most to me. The only thing perfect in life is Jesus; everything else has flaws. It's learning to live with the flaws and appreciating things for what they are, rather than focusing on what they're not, that really makes the difference.

I never use my RM cars, so I'm not gonna whine.

Familiarity with the series is surely a big part of people's perceptions. Many of us have been playing since GT1 and so remember the tracks and cars and qualifying and race modifications and other things that have disappeared - and also remember the wacky grids and slow AI and other things that have remained. Some of us also notice the physics and grid size and online play and tracks and cars and other things that have been improved and added. Some of us remember the past so fondly that we forget about or ignore the many imperfections that have always plagued the series(whether we noticed them at the time or only later). Some of us are also fans of racing in the real world and so want to see some of the things that aren't right from that perspective changed. Some of us also do real world race driving and so want to see some things that don't feel right about the driving experience improved.

Some of us love GT5 and can't be bothered to get upset about or even recognize it's flaws. Some of us quite like GT5 but are still really annoyed by the flaws that we notice the most, and would like to see them corrected in future releases if not via patches. Some of us were frustrated to the point of quitting GT5 but still have enough hope for the franchise and concept to want to see those flaws corrected. Some of us can't understand how anybody can forgive the flaws in GT5 and reward a company that never seems to fix them by continuing to buy their games. Some of us are probably just here to troll and have a laugh.

Don't get too discouraged by the banter on the forums. There's a great deal of helpful information, helpful people(some of whom can still be polite and helpful despite having very strong negative feelings about some aspects of the game), and even a little fun(although that is forbidden by the AUP ;) ). Read the valuable info, laugh at the funny bits, ponder the interesting bits, and play the game however feels right and fun for you. Just don't take any of it too seriously. Otherwise, you might end up posting a topic to complain about people complaining about something that they have a legitimate complaint about which results in more people deciding to complain about the thing you are complaining about people complaining about than were complaining about it before you complained about them complaining about it. And then arguing.

GT5 is very beautiful. And very ugly. Much like the internet.
