perfect pedal brake mod for g27 ... has anybody taken their perfect pedal apart for an overhaul?

i did a superficial search here, but didn't find anything about the guts of these.

could have been a great unit, seemed like it was well made, but worked well for less than six weeks.

it leaked a lot of oil onto the floor below it, and it makes a farting noise with every actuation.
braking performance is inconsistent, as i assume the force coming against the load cell for given pedal pressure, is variable now.

this was an incredibly expensive unit, and the folks at Perfect Pedal have been worse than useless, stringing me along, and then ignoring me, for more than two months, now.

in every communication with them, i have been polite and overly patient.
their last communication to me was essentially, 'we're not ignoring you, it's just not our primary business and we have been too busy with other stuff than to bother simply initiating a warranty process ... but rest assured, we are not ignoring you."
that was a couple weeks ago.
i have written them off as far as any help or support with their product. unbelievable that people can charge this much money for something, and then just blow you off if you have any problems.

just beware, ... if you buy one and have issues, you are out on your own.

at this point, it is up to me to take this really expensive paperweight apart, and try to repair it mice elf,
so if anyone has some insight or precautions or servicing this pile, i'd appreciate it.
also type of oil to use for reassembly.

thanx

I have had my perfect pedal for several years now with no issues. As far as the oil used it is synthetic 40 weight gear oil. I will also include an email I received regarding adjusting the fluid level.

So, your pedal has 17ml right now. It will be full at roughly 25ml, at this setting it will be very high and hard, like a real f1 car. You can also drain to as low as 12ml or so, when it's too low it won't register anymore in windows test or iracing. I recommend you change (either way) in increments of 2ml, then try.

As for air...make sure the fill screw us on top, not inverted. Also, pull the pedal all the way out before replacing fill screw and you'll be fine.

If you have trouble getting the fill needle past the spring and all the way into the hole you can try making the tip mire if an oval with a pliers...if it still won't go in remove the bottom pivot bolt ( the one thru the shaft tip) and rotate the shaft, then the needle tip will drop in.

I hope it will help and I wouldnt give up on them just yet. They where very helpful and polite with me.

... hope it will help ...

a big help, thanks, as i am starting from zero ... i'll digest all your points as i dig in, and they'll make more sense as i do.

i think i need to go to a further degree of dissembly though, as the leak and the sound, suggest a seal that is comprmised or out of place.

the orientation of my 'shock' itself, in when it was in use, was piston shaft below reservoir, i assume that is ok.

as far as help from the manufacturer, i'm not optimistic, and frankly,
after the way they've handled this so far, i'm not sure i could be convinced to mail it off to them for repair.
at this rate, even if i sent it tomorrow, it would be fall before they got around to looking at it, and ...

there's a reason i waited so long to ask here for help. i am not the type who tries to trash folks online, because they've been waiting a week or two without resolution.
this is so far far away from a week or two.
i understand the limitations and variables of vendor customer service.
i could post all the emails here (because there are sadly so little) to establish my point, but just suffice it to say it's been since christmas-time, and all i have gotten is, 'sorry, so sorry, we'll try to get right to it, we'll contact you' ... in other words "zero"
they have been polite, but 'thoughtful', no.

no communication, no return authorization, no instructions or questions about the problem, no physical address to write to, no telephone number to call ...... zero

i'm not prepared to have no piece of equipment in hand, in addition to no communication, no refund, and no tangible hope of a solution.

Yeah I have no clue about taking it apart, have never thought of it actually. That was an email reply I received about adjusting the fluid level to adjust the pedal stiffness. I have only went as far as removing the fill screw. There is a spring inside the pedal though that they are referring to when adding more oil using their tuning kit.

I've got two Perfect Pedals I've hammered for four years and never had a single problem. I've got one set up as GT, so softer and a super hard one for F1. Never leaked a single drop. Sorry man
