Of all the games that shouldn't have it, this is the one.

You could spend years collecting cars, which is what the game is all about after all, just to have it wiped out by a stupid power outage or worse YLOD.

No excuse Sony, get rid of it.

+1000 i have lost enough gameplay hours due to ylod with my original 60gb and since then i have never touched a game with copy protection ever again, it is such a shame that a game like this has locked save files i was looking forward to this game for such a long time but what can you do?

bayonetta was another game that had copy protection i had nearly everything unlocked my 80gb was playing up and the save file went with it, it's very heart breaking when it happens to you it's something that other people will never understand, i emailed platinum games directly about the issue but they were not interested so i sold the game and that was that, any other game in the future that locks save game files will be sold too, no excuse.

other gamesaves that i have lost to due to copy protection:

resident evil 5 (before the patch) professional playthrough TWICE.
heavy rain 100% complete
bayonetta
need for speed undercover
need for speed carbon
namco museum PSN game
Final Fight: Double Impact PSN game
mortal kombat 2 PSN game

and many more that i can't remember, this copy protection crap is way too much.

and NO transferring your hard drive to another console will not restore the copy protected save file.
and NO using the save game backup utility will not backup your copy protected save file data, it can only be restored on the same ps3 you made the backup data on, pretty useless.

yes you can use the transfer utility but how many people do you know have 2 ps3s to actually make any use of it? sony have not made backing up your copy protected save data easy at all and it's not fair on us, you say that people go and download save data to get to unlock everything how are they going to do that if any save file that people download only works on the user who created the save file in the first place, don't make assumptions that you don't know about.

in the end of this all the gamers who pay these game devs their wages are the ones who suffer the most, why should i give them my hard earned money if they won't let me backup my save files? i don't want to give them my money they don't deserve it.

i will be linking this topic to other forums i go to just to make people see it and i suggest anyone who is against copy protection to do the same.

Definitely signed.

The people who are so afraid of online gaming being spoiled by 100% saves roaming about obviously have not thought about how much worse their own gaming experience (online and offline) would be spoiled if they themselves lost EVERYTHING. Some are even getting caught up on how quickly people would get through the game offline...amazing! They would rather know that no one out there is able to get through the game quickly (whether they know about it or not) than make sure that their own efforts are not going to be in vain. Can't see the forest for the trees, if you ask me.

Besides, the easy fix to prevent roaming 100% saves is linking them to PSN accounts. Sony, link saves to PSN accounts...not PS3s.

Count me in. I spent my cash on this game, then I should be able to do what I want with my save file. I want to back my save file up on my PC but can't. What's happens if my PS3 HDD dies???

Is Kaz going to come round to my house and replay the game and get me back to where I was? I bl**dy well doubt it.

I agree with this thread. Horrible move on PD's part not allowing us to backup our save file. The risk of losing our saves due to a failing ps3 or corrupt file totally outweighs stopping people from downloading 100% saves

...And why the hell would I care if someone else downloads a save? It doesn't effect me at all! I want to back my shi* up!

I am not sure if these online petitions do much, but sure.

You're right, I've never seen someone from this site (the site we made into the biggest GT site) ask any hard questions to kazunori tamagotchi. Even though the game has so many flaws. I've also never had any real help from a customer support telephone line. All they can help you with is if you have a problem that allready has a solution. I'm getting so sick of this whole gaming experience that I'll quit gaming after I'm done with GT5.

I'd like to backup my save game, but at least lock it to that specific PS3 console with some complex method of some sort..

I agree, I`d like to be able to backup my saves too so be it if its linked to my PSN account or whatever. My PS3 has been acting a bit strange as of late as well.

As someone who has suffered from the YLOD before and lost a 60+ hrs Dragon Age save, this needs to be fixed. Of all the games, GT5 has to have some way to backup saves.

I would like it to be synced to an online server, it really annoys me that the cheaters ruin things like this for honest gamers who just want a backup.

I pray that this gets patched.

Yes get rid of the copy-protection, i have no intension of cheating by downloading other game saves, i just want to back-up my data so im safe if my ps3 fails (im on my third ps3)

This is good news. My PS3 died the DAY I got GT5. Im borrowing my cousins right now but he wants it back very soon as he just got GT5 too. Good to know I can't transfer my save with all my licenses over to another PS3. Thanks Sony.

Remove the dag nabbit protection and let us back up our save games - too much time is spent building a career to have it come crashing down because the feckin machine dies. Plus, I wanna have the freedom to play my career upstairs or downstairs on either of my machines.

Ran into this again tonight... went to a buddies house to show him GT5... obviously couldn't bring my save so we had to start from scratch... it was a boring license test and Civic EK ownage fest for quite a while and by the time we go to some fun stuff it was time to go.

Of course those hours of work didn't add to my save game either....

Sorry for the noob question but does this mean if I want to back-up my game-save because I want to upgrade my PS3 HDD I won't be able to ? I'm just a bit dazed on the difference between backing-up and copying in relation to this thread

Signed. Not beeing able to control my own game saves is absolutely ridiculous. Backing up the whole HDD is not an option, it takes too much time, and it costs extra money, i don't want to buy another 300 GB HDD just because of this Apple empery like restrictions :ouch:

Yeah, why is there copy protection at all? It's my game, I paid for it, why do the developer tell me what I can do with it?

Also, who's responsible when said enjoyment derived from not downloading a save is erased when the system itself fails.

Will be changing the HDD in my PS3 soon so I'm really annoyed about this. Let me back up my save. At least only lock it to PSN ID rather than the PS3 its on.

I'm on my 3rd PS3 at the moment and i don't want to loose my dodge, 459 Italia and two stealth cars (Mclaren F1 + Mazda 787B)

Signed.

I'm on my original PS3 (the fat one) and very worried that I'd loose all the hard work should it fail.

If you think about MMO games there are no save games stored locally and it's all saved on the server. Of course for this you will always need to be connected to the internet but maybe include this "option" if they're so worried about cheating, I'm sure for most people this would not be a problem.

Either way something needs to be done.

You should be able to backup the whole HDD as long as you later restore it on the same PS3 (can be another/larger HDD I think). You won't be able to just move the GT5 save alone.

You should be able to transfer data between two PS3s as well (transfer removes everything from the source console).

Oh that's a huge relief ! Thanks for clarifying.
OT: This should be a standard procedure to have a back-up method in case of emergency.

seems like a SSD disk would be a good choice to make now for the durability or as someone else said let the PSN Account's handle the saves.

Im in, Me and my mate ust to play together on 1 save on GT4 and ship it back and forth between each others houses. Why should it be any different on GT5?

I've had my ps3 since launch and plan on getting a slim shortly but without being able to transfer the save, just makes me so mad. Its all good that were sharing the same nuisances on here, but how do we get it to PD or Sony?...

If you're still on your original phat PS3 and considering on a slim, I'd say better sooner than later. Get your slim now and transfer everything over (still not 100% certain the GT5 save will go over), but if your phat dies now, you loose everything. Too risky in my opinion.

If I do data transfer utilty to the new ps3 slim, will that transfer the copyright protected game saves?
