I also agree with this.

Because of how dodgy my PS3 is at the moment I would like to back it up. I've already lost my save once doing a full system transfer (even though it worked the first time).
 
Completely agree. I bought a Slim just for GT5 and as backup to my 60gig Fat, but you are at the mercy of a PC laptop hard drive if nothing else, and they can last six years, or a month.

I know we're all about legitimately winning our goodies ourselves, but if kids want to cheat, let them.
 
I got my PS3 the day after they first came out.....so count me as signed!

Cant imagine how much longer it will last!

This is no good either.

I have had 1 YROD that was nto repairable, so the PS3 archve backup was useless on the new PS3.

This idea of locking the content to the hardware or not allowing copying/backup of saves is moronic. Who intheir righ tmind sits around the table at an engineering meeting and agrees to this?

This needs to be addressed.

-Don't bother golding licenses
-Don't obsess about unlocking stuff
-Don't try to set serious record laptimes
-Don't do anything in general that can't be done relatively
quick and easy again
UNTIL
there is an option to back up saves :)
 
yep definately.... i'd already be pissed off big time if my savedata is lost now, just 4 days in let alone in the future... like losing your children, only worse, haha

It is stupid that you can't backup. This game might progress for years, instead of those play and ditch games. THIS is the game that most needs a backup function (imagine losing 2 years of savegame!).

I don't care if people download them or do crazy stuff with it. It is a game. And if they are afraid do the same as for Red Dead Redemption: lock it to PSN ID.
 
It is very hard to imagine the kind of logic that lead to this decision, until you realize the truth:

Lawyers are paid to undermine reason, while appearing to support it.
 
I just tried my Uncharted 2 game save and that is not copy protected.

PD could change this overnight and as each day passes it becomes ever more important.

I agree with you, but the way I have always played these games is to get gold on everything so it's very hard to not do it. I'm all about time trials too, so again I enjoy going for lap times.

There is hope, cos Resident Evil 5 had these stupid copy protected saves and they patched it to allow the saves to be backed up.

What we need, is someone to actually ask Ken or someone at Polyphony Digital about these saves, to see what they say. I mean, how do we even know if they are aware of everyone wanting these saves to be fixed?

We have 2 PS3's. I transfer the kids gamessavs between the 2 PS3's all the time. Means there is a backup (as we lost it all once before) and it means that if the wife and I are watching a BluRay in the living room the PS3 in the den can be used by others.

So far all games we have can be backed up - except GT5. Go figure.
 
Yes, they should remove copy protection. I think it's crazy to not allow it. What will it take to get developers to realize that we, as gamers, absolutely hate this? Threatening them might help get our message across. :)

That would be awesome. Also, a person should be able to have more than 1 save.

Last but not least, if you finish GT5 to 100%, it should unlock a New Game+ of some kind to start with damage unlocked and just a non-noobie game. This is what I want. I am tired of noobing games. First Forza 3, now GT5...

my 4 year old PS3 is dying soon. I can't imagine playing GT5 from the very beginning if I do lose my saved file.
 
I definitely&absolutely&purely agree...I still remember when the time in GT4 it is so easy to backup save files and I have one memory card that's malfunctioning, like every-time I load my save file for the 5th or 6th time, the save file becomes corrupted and good thing I have a backup memory card with backup savefile...
