To everyone putting times up in the RR time trial seasonal with the MR peugeot race cars:

you're pathetic

Honestly, why can't you take the game a little seriously and follow the implied rules? Obviously its still competitive with so many little pants wetters pullling the same crap, but I happen to like RR cars. The Ruf's, Alpines, even the '44 kubelwagon is fun to drive. What's wrong you couldn't hack it with the peugeot in the "real world courses" seasonal? Thank you ruining something that I was truly looking forward to using to compare my RR driving and tuning skills with others. Go back to Mario Kart.

If the game allows it why not do it?....

It is the reality in the racing world that race teams build their race cars to the very limit of the rules. They will go beyond if they think there will be a high percentage chance of getting away with it.

If you can't figure out how to compete within the rules...stop crying.

👎

"The reality" in the racing world, is a race car entering a competition with a drivetrain layout which does not conform to the regulations, would not pass scrutineering. :)

Would appear there's a loophole in the regulation ;)

Thing is I probably could do way better than 6000th if I wanted to take my 900hp endurance racer and de-tune it to 350hp with sports medium tires, but I don't want to because thats just retarded. Unfortunately I'll never know because after becoming curious and checking which car the current leader used, I've lost all interest in the event.

Actually, part of me hopes that this complaint wont even reach the people who are doing this because I would hope the people in this online community have a little more passion about Gran Turismo and what fun it is to compete in a quality race. But another part of me hopes that by voicing my frustration it wont happen again in the future. This is just like the idiots using the shortcut glitch to get 10 second laps in THE LAST time trial with the nascar cars.

Oh and by the way Joe, if you don't know what you are talking about...

Just one thing...

Where, anywhere in the description, is mentioned that this is a RR challenge?

All I can see, and I looked in diferent languages, is that this challenge is for rear wheel drive cars, not Rear engine position - Rear wheel drive.

It's intended to FR, MR and RR cars. There is no loophole here.

Apart of that, I already said someplace else here in this forum that power limiter and ballast should be heavally limited for this challenges to avoid, in this case for example, to use 700hp 900kg cars with power limiter to 50% and 200kg of ballast.

A limitation setup, like power limiter minimum set of 90% and maximum ballast of 40kg or 50kg...

RWD? Hmmmm... I don't know where I saw that now, but that explains why those peugeots are allowed in. I sure feel like an a$$ now, lol, but regardless we're both saying these time trials are being taken advantage of. I am a fanboy when it comes to GT and I wish people would get in the spirit of racing instead of taking shortcuts or blatantly cheating just to see their name on the leaderboard.

@terminsel

Unfortunately I have to agree that PD should be more careful when launches some TT.

I already said that in other topic related with this.

The last one also, requiring a "road car" with a maximum of 395hp meant that the Nissan R390 "Road Car" had no challenge has it's a road car only in the name, because was built only for road homologation, apart from that was a racing car. In this case, imagine my surprise, I didn't had the car, cause I was grinding to buy another cars, and it was a 351hp, 1180kg road car costing a million credits and a standard car!!! And I was trying with Ferrari 430, McLaren MP4-12C, fully tuned apart from power, the rankings full of R390!!! I mean I easily golded it but, when I had the chance to buy a R390GT1 from UCD, went to TT and took like 3 or 4 seconds to my best time, with the car standard apart oil change.

In this case, the ballast and power limiter allow us to use cars with twice as power and 200kg lighter detuned to meet challenge restrictions. This causes people using Le Mans prototypes detuned to 345hp. There are no cars in the game near 345hp and 1100kg with the amount of downforce, low centre of gravity and rigidity of a Peugeot 908.

My opinion has said is that, in this cases, PD should limit the amount of ballast and % of total power used, only to people detune slightly lighter or powerful cars, not the full use of this two functions.

So, for me, this challenges are there just to get the million credits from gold prize. Nothing more

Aside from the fact that I agree that power limiter and ballast should be limited in the amount that can be applied for these types of challenges, I think it would be much simpler for PD to just supply the car for the challenge, like they have done in the past.

That way, everyone is using the exact same car and setup and the results will truly be about driving skill and not just manipulating game features to gain an advantage. Apples to apples. 👍

Why cant they limit what cars are available to be used in the time trials like they do with other seasonals, would sort a lot of this detuning crap out 👍

I have shocking news, please take a deep breath before reading:

It's just a GAME.

1. You can beat it with loads of different cars - it's up to you.
2. The top times are still hard to beat - I tried for ages last night and still only got 1:46.6xx
3. You can still compare times with your friends - it's possible to filter the leaderboard to show just that.
4. There's always someone faster, whatever you're in.

on the other hand

1. These races might be better if it was pp rather than hp
2. Maybe if there was a handicap linked to the ultimate hp of the car you're in
3. Or different rankings for different cars/types
4. Ah, what the heck, it's only a game! Did you get your million?

Maybe they should limit the usage of the power limiter for these events, for example allowing you only to lower the cars power down to say 85 percent or so, that way it could be fair, but all the "over the top" cars like the 908 wouldn't be able to be used. Just a thought..

Anyone wanna share an nice setup for the 908 they use on the TT ? ;)

If everyone uses the 908 then it is a true time trial.

Im ranked 648

Just like the last one, so if everyone glitches out of the track then we're all even and its a true time trial right? 👎

Its not glitching at all. Everyone here has access and money to get this car, so your way off base there.

Now if it said road car event than you'd have a valid point. Also if it was i would use a road car and not the r390. Im for fairness on time trials. Get the 908 and place. Then you know where you stand agaist others it it. See its fair. No glitch thank you

Since I take part in a LMP series, I wanted to see how I compared to others in LMP cars. My best time is a 1:43.037 which was ranked 79th. But since then I've slipped down to 170th or so. I don't know how those guys can go 3/4 seconds faster. As others have said, it would be better if you could only lower the power to a certain extent.

Very nice!!

Like I've said before. For the time trial they should supply the car. Just like in the nascar seasonal. Then it would really compare times and not tunes or detuned cars.

Implied Rules ≠ Actual Rules

Why not use the 908 yourself?

You're right it is fair... lame, but fair.

I started this thread because I mistakenly read the "RWD time trial" as saying "RR time trial," as you can see by the name of the thread. I was wrong in thinking that the car was against regulations, and my original statement was made based on that false assumption.

But others have a valid point, and I think the underlying idea is that a car like the 908 is not meant to be driven in a race with a 345hp limit. It would very much surprise me if PD designed this TT with that car in mind.

Bottom line...the event allows the car on the track. I'm all for putting restrictions on power limiter etc, but game isn't there yet. Regardless of what you want this event to be, it in fact is about setting the fastest lap in the 908. It is what it is and thousands of guys are having fun with it. The others....well...

Fyi, I have build 3 race cars over the years..street racing, and then for the track. It's all about pushing the rules if you can get away with it.

Still, it will be a step in the right direction when more restrictions are put in, or like in the Nascar Event, we use the car they give us...no tuning.

In my opinion, the rankings are really ruined because of users that use all the same car, especially for who like me always try to use cars which are "naturally" within the required limits. Same thing for the drift trial where everyone use the special or the speed 12, but it's another story.
I hope that in future PD will do something about this situation. It would be great for the various trials a car chosen directly by PD, or otherwise make available a list of cars with similar values in order to make things more balanced, because currently are not and there is not even the desire or the sense of trying to climb the ranks with other cars that aren't those who everyone at the top to the rankings use.

I golded the TT using a car which meet the HP without use of the power limiter. I then checked on what was on top of the leader board. I switched to it tuned it to meet the specs and ran with it. I dropped 3 1/2 seconds although I am still a lot slower than the leaders.

I don't have a problem with people running the cars that perform best against the specs as listed. It's a fair contest for those who want to post the best time. In addition the TT can be golded with a naturally specced vehicle for those who want that challenge.

If someone has all the energy to complain about what the top guys are doing and no one is cutting the track or wall riding why complain? If the big dogs put their paints on one leg at a time then they can be beat, someone has to be the winner of which it won't be me but I'm going to spend my space buckz to get what ever their driving and give it a go.

The point was more to mock than to complain.

My suggestion would be to make it impossible in GT5 to put "comfort" or "sports" tyres on race cars.

That would get rid of all ridiculously tuned down race cars in all competitions designed for road cars immediately.
