NFS has been ripping off other games for years. I mean just look at the original NFS : U. Gives you points for drifting -> MSR etc... Near misses -> Burnout, High speed blur -> Burnout, Airtime -> PGR? & God knows what else. Not that its generally a bad thing, but always makes me laugh when I recognised other games in NFS.

Oh & btw NFS : U also had 'photo shoots' with pics of your cars on magazines. So maybe GT stole the idea from EA ;)

Anyway, Gtchamp. you do know NFSU IS the highest selling racing game since its release.

You do mean highest selling racing game on the x-box don't you? And not highest selling on any platform.
Highest selling game on x-box: Halo@4million
Highest selling racing game: GT3@11million

Errr... don't want to burst anyone's bubble... but that 'feature' was in NFSU:U 1... The sports mags covers and stuff. And that was out Before PD announced photomode for GT4...

The "photos" were amazingly crappy tho.

Was it, I was never able to take m own photo for the mag covers in NFSU, it was automatic.

well it was automatic. But somehow, i don't think rotating the car around will make a big difference...

I wish some of the more dumb ass members would realise that games have been ripping each other off for YEARS. See you take an ideas from other games, and add em to your own, but BETTER!

...THANK U!!!

Spamming, why?

A friend of mine has the demo too.. He is connected to EA, so he could test it.
Well first of all WHY THE HELL IS IT IN THE GT4 AREA? And Photomode for NFSU2 any REAL source rather than you telling us your friend works at EA how the hell are we supposed to believe this? any proof? So bascily this is a "SPAM" if this starter of this thread did not provide us with any REAL source. Umm oh yeah I have a friend that drives for F1 his name is Jensen Button.

Funny that EA would imitate PD in adding a photomode, and even funnier is that PD stole the idea from SegaGT when in fact KY mentioned he would love to incorporate a photographic mode into the GT series on the build-up to GT2 as he wanted to put his loves into his series. Sorry just had to mention that.

Hmm I have only played Sega GT once I think and I never got to play alot only like 10 minutes so can anyone link me to a place that will show the "photomode" for Sega GT? Really interested or just tell me if there is any difference between the one for GT4 and Sega GT.

am i allowed to say that i hate nfsug?
i should know what i say, because i played the ug-mode 2 times to the end(!).
i loved the "construction mode", but if i wanted to ride my new car, i threw up. nfsug is the only racinggame i know which has NO carphysics. and i know a lot of these games(about 3.000.000 ;) ). and it has no replay!!! no replay in a game from 2003?! that's no question of memory or performance or something. i think the developers just saw how a replay would suck, because the cars don't drive around corners, but shoot around them like little spaceships. just have look at enemies in front of you. i know, it's a arcaderacer, but burnout, or other games are these too. and driving them is funny. in nfsug the driving, essential part of a RACINGgame, sucks. it's fast and colorful but that's it. :ouch:

Ive got to say that i actually liked NFSU, because i like racing games good or bad, if someone takes one look at a screenshot of a game and says its rubbish, or if they dislike it because its on a rival games machine or made by a companie that they dislike for some reason or another then im sorry but they talk a load of ****. If people have played it and disliked it then so be it, because its there opinion, also if someone dislikes a game because its a ricer game then its there loss. I enjoyed the game because it was fun, and that is what gaming is all about, granted the physics were naff and the graphics sucked big style, but playing it was fun, just in same way playing something like ridge racer, arcade games come as a welcome distraction of daily life and games such as gran turismo. I can see why people actually have such strong opinions on this matter, its the same argument as fifa or pro evo. nobody in life has said to you have buy this game or you will go to hell, its not set in stone which games you should buy, play everything and be happy. and dont slate someone because you hate the games they play.

I havent found this elusive demo of NFSU2 but i will keep searching, and if they do put a photomode in then all the better, at lease i will be able to put them on my pc and do what i will (i play NFSU on my pc :) ).

If someone can find a server that can host a 12mb file, let me know! or else I cant post a 'link' to the vid. My FTP with earthlink only allows 10mb, and Im already using 4 of it. :indiff:

and by the way, anyone who wants to know my opinion of it. The cars handle the same and the graphics are the same. But everything else is new. You have to drive to shops to upgrade your car (marked on your GTA-like map), and there are some secret shops that arent marked on your map, which have the "underground" parts. You can start random races on the street. See a supra going by you, can can do a 180 and then chase it down and start a race with it. you can get on highways (marked with interstate signs and everything :p) but it only goes for a mile or so, then you have to get off, because the two lanes into the rest of the world are closed.. "open november 2004" with signs on them. Overall, its pretty fun. Demo dosent allow you to customize your car, you can choose from 2 already beefed up Evo 8's and thats it. And once again, its only all night racing with the wet roads. (I did notice puddles splash up at you now tho, neat) Anyways, Its exactly what I expect to the sequel of NFSU. thats it summed up in a nutshell. You can cleary start to see the dying of the PS2 tho. Kinda like GT1 and GT2 on the PS1. "Claimed" enhancements in GT2, but just so much that the hardware was able to do. They looked the same basically. Starting to see that happening in games with the PS2. Only so much that can be done anymore. Come on PS3! :dopey:

Good to know that you are back to the board!

*proceeds to EA's FTP to retreive demo*
yay, pre-release :D
edit:
dammit, should read the whole thread before going FTP-happy :(

Sue EA!!! (or make a deal with them that they give PD their licenses if they can use a photomode :D)

Good luck

So what if NFSU2 and GT4 have the same photo mode feature. How many FPS's have you played that have copied each other? It must be very hard these days to try and think up something new and orginal when developing a game.
Besides, how does anyone really know that EA got the idea from PD. Maybe EA have been thinking about it for years, but never put it in a game until they got the graphics to a decent level.

Cheers

Jamie

overstocked I'll host it for ya ;) just give me the file and I'll send you the link to view it no problem ;)
THANK YOU SO MUCH so now we know if he really has connections with EA or if he is just BSing! (Hopes that this video is true (so it will make NFSU2 a little fun) ).

Who cares who stole which idea from which person! The photo mode isn't exactly copywrited!

Anyway, it'll improve the magazine feature aspect of NFS:U, but what they really need is replays! One thing I enjoy in GT (apart from thrashing cars realsitically around Tsukuba) is watching my runs in relpay mode.

NFS:U2 could easily take advantage of such a feature, especially if an emphasis is placed on 'wreckless' driving. Some will enjoy waching their cars crash as well as possibly reviewing their racing lines and tactics (which helps to make GT's replays enjoyable in my opinion).

As for the photo modes in GT4 and NFS:U2, they're be beneficial for each game. I'm predicting that GT4's photo mode will be used mainly to take advantage of the groundbreaking graphics. I've also read that you'll be able to print the photos out usung a usb printer.

NFS:U2's 'photo mode' is simply going to be implemented into the magazine features, and is unlikely to be very sophisticated at all.
