We've got threads for vans, station wagons, muscle cars, non-muscle cars, 4x4s, microcars, kei cars... It seems we have a thread for every style of automobile except for the good old fashioned hard working pickup. So here it is. Show off your favorite pickups.

Full-size standard-cab short-bed pickups are going away. Ford and Chevy still make them, but Ram just announced they are discontinuing theirs. This isn't really surprising. They don't sell a standard-cab short-bed version of the current Ram 1500. Instead they've kept the previous generation (essentially the 2019 model with no changes) in production as the Ram 1500 Classic to fill the small amount of demand that still exists. However, if you're quick, you can still order the 1500 Classic before the order books close. Added incentive to buy one are 13 low production colors you can order for an additional $450. They make for a nice change from the usual four shades or grey and white.

Slightly annoying for me since single cab models are what actually sells over here in the Gulf States when it comes to full sized pick up trucks. Fully loaded crew cab models, on the other hand, are just typically way too expensive (or even impractical) to your average working/middle class Joe Jasim.

(Not the newest nor best examples but you get the idea).

I get that we represent a really tiny portion of the market but still.

Well, thanks for the thread. You gave me another excuse to post about Sport Trucks.

This is probably always going to be my favorite one, the 2000s Ford F150 SVT Lightning.

Another sport truck I really liked as a kid though was the Dodge Dakota R/T. I mean, the Ram SRT-10 was absolute madness of course, but this was still a cool thing on its own. and I just thought this generation Dakota looked great tbh.

Happy to be of assistance.

I agree. That generation of Dakota looked great when new, and it has aged well. It’s just a shame that Dodge- sorry, I mean Ram gave up on smaller pickups. The demand for smaller trucks is surprisingly high now. The Ford Maverick has been so successful, Ford has already closed the order books for 2023.

True, I actually find it odd that Ram hasn't revived the Dakota in this day in age when the Ranger and Colorado/Canyon came back. The Maverick could setup motivation for a new smaller Ram truck aswell.

-----------

Now for the other fast Truck from Dodge in the early 2000s, the Ram SRT-10:

Remembering this, I guess I should've been less surprised about Dodge, Jeep, and Ram's Madness with Hellcats in recent years.

and there was the Silverado SS and I'm gonna be honest, this is better looking than the current gen Silverado. I missed it when they looked like this.
