This thread will be closed until I have finished attaching all of the photos. Please, be patient. Thanks.:)

My Dad took the pictures of the deer from 5:30-6:30 this afternoon. There's no house to the right of ours, and never will be because it's a 5 acre wildlife conservation area. It's awesome.

The picture of the painted bunting(bird) is a few weeks old, and so is the picture of all of the bird feeders. I'm just including it so you can see where the deer was standing when we first saw her. Plus these really annoying ducks that hang around in our back yard are in the photo.:banghead:

#1 Picture taken from one of the kitchen windows. It's cool eating breakfast in the morning, and being able to watch all kinds of birds, and stuff, eat too.

#3 From one of the windows in our living room. Note the pond/lagoon thing back there. It looks a lot like Doug's pool, wouldn't you say? Well, his pool is a lot more green than that.

#5 This is an old picture of those bird/deer feeders that was in the first 2 pictures of the deer. Notice those ugly ass ducks. They're so ugly. They have this red brain looking stuff on the outside of their heads. I got the black one to eat out of my hand the other day. Actually, it just pecked at my hand, and I jerked my hand back dropping all of the bird seed. That black cat, and the orange cat are no longer around. There was like 5 of those cats that were all wild, and some lady from some animal place came and trapped them all one day. My Dad said if he saw anymore of them he would shoot them with his bow, and arrow, and she was like, "Oh, no, no, please don't! Please, just call me don't do that!" He was like... meh, alright.

#6 Here's a picture of some Painted Bunting. What kind of name is that anyways?

This is it for now. I'll take more pictures of animals, and stuff, if I see some more.

Wow, speaking of animals in the backyard... we have a mother raccoon that's been visiting us every day now (food, of course), and just this minute, for the first time, she brought her babies along. :) There are five of them... cute little things, and they make a funny cooing-curdling kind of noise. Too bad I don't have a digicam...

Last night, we had a bear that made three visits to the house. The first time it came, it ran before my dad got his gun... the second time, my dad shot in the dirt next to it to try and scare it away, but it came again in the middle of the night, swapped our trash can, and tore the sides off the recycling bin. Ouch.

Yeah, I like it.;)

At first I thought I'd scare those ducks off somehow, but after a while they just grew on me, and my dad. I also didn't like all of the bird feeders at first, but it's actually neat to watch different birds/squirrels/rabbits throughout the day. It's very relaxing, and peaceful. All kinds of birds drop by. Everyday there's two different male woodpeckers, and a female that come eat from two of the woodpecker feeders. They also like to peck on the metal chimney guard thing which really pisses me off when I'm trying to sleep in the morning.

I actually go out and fill the feeders every other day, but my Dad used to. I also wash the bird baths out, refill them, and put fresh corn out for the deer. The ducks, and squirrels get the corn, though. Bastards. It's a cool hobby. It's like having pets that you really don't have to take care of except for the feeding part.:D

Raccoons are really cool, but they're some mean mofo's if you mess with them. At our house before the one before this one there was one underneath out neighbors deck, and my Dad's ex-wife's Sharpei tried sniffing at it, and it flipped out. I thought the coon was going to kill her. It sounded extremely mad! I'm guessing it was trying to protect her little babies, or something.

Bears?! Bah. I'd run like a little girl if I saw a bear in our backyard, unless it was a little one.:odd: Get a digital camera, and take some pictures.:p Hell, everyone do it if there's an animal in your yard. It could be a possum, or your dog chained up, I don't care!

The only part that isn't ours you can't even see in the pictures. The wildlife conservation area starts about 10-15 yards into those woods behind all of the bird feeders.

Heh heh. We're having a bit of a ground squirrel problem here... we've got at least six, and they eat everything in site (they go right up into our peach trees and bit off a couple peaches right before our eyes). Chipmunks are cool though - And they're not very afraid of humans. While I was watering the lawn the other day, there was one sitting in a hole about 15 feet from me, just sitting there watching me. :)

Yup, it certainly is cool. 👍 There are two problems that arise though... one, when we had a ton of foxes that were taking handouts from us (upwards of 10 of them!), they left scat everywhere, which was kinda gross (one even took a crap in our lawn in the middle of the day), and two, the bear situation... they're smart, and know where to get food, and now that it routinely visits us, it's almost a hazard to just have the screen door open...

BTW, I should mention that I get a lot of wildlife, because, 1) I live about 10 miles north of Castaic, the main town, and 2) Our property is surrounded on 3 sides by L.A. National Forest land (and the fourth side is just the road), so it's all chaparral and living quarters for the animals.

Oh yeah - Especially when they got young 'uns. This mommy that I was referring to has been attacking the other raccoons that frequent our house... runs after them, biting them and making all kinds of freaky noises... I've been waken up in the middle of the night by these raccoon fights.

Bears?! Bah. I'd run like a little girl if I saw a bear in our backyard, unless it was a little one.:odd:
Um, a word of advice: You'd really want to run away from a little bear, since that usually means there's an angry mother bear close-by... ;) BTW, it was a fairly normal-sized black bear (a bit on the smallish side).

I don't mind squirrels, but my Dad hates them. He almost didn't want me to buy corn for the deer, but he doesn't mind a few squirrels if he can see a few deer too. We don't intentionally feed them by putting corn on the squirrel feeders, though. I might just take those down tomorrow, or something, as they'll never get used.

I wish I could see some chipmunks, and fox! The crap thing would suck, but we're used to it from those ugly ducks. Our deck, and lower concrete back porch area is always covered(not really covered, but still...) in poop.:irked: My Dad has been considering getting a hot tub/jacuzzi, but he knows the cover will be covered in **** everytime he goes down there.

Yeah, I heard about that on The Discovery Channel, or something, once.

I'd be cautious if I saw a baby bear, but I wouldn't start running until I heard the ground pounding, trees shaking, and saw a big mean mother bear charging at me.:p

Ditto. I don't mind them at all, but my parents are getting annoyed by them. *shrugs* Have you ever seen a squirrel try to grab food out of another squirrel's hands? Funny stuff. :D

Heh heh. At least you have deer though. ;) We occasionally see deer on the road, but never at our house... dunno why. We have a ton of quail too- There's one giant brood of about 60 of them (teenage quail) following one dad... I'm assuming it was several nests that merged together. Have you ever seen a really, really tiny baby quail? Those things are awesome-- They're like an 1 1/2 inch tall! (No taller than the adult's legs)

We also had a baby mountain lion come and drink some water some years ago... after it left, my dad went outside, and in the bushes he found huge cat paws... the mom had apparently been watching from the bushes.

I could just see you screaming like a little girl, throwing your arms in the air, and running into the house, Josh..

We get Sparrows. Yep, sparrows, and thats about it.

We get the occasional stray dog, and neighbours cat, but aside from that, sparrows.

Sometimes we get Finches. But it's too cold for any birds this time of year, but there were some finches in our pear tree, but they took off when they heard my footsteps on the mushy ground :irked:

I don't know why my Dad doesn't like squirrels. I guess it's because they're like rats, or something. He calls them tree rats sometimes. I've seen them do all kinds of stupid stuff. When I was like 8 we lived on the Air Force Base, and I watched one fall off a powerline, and smack a concrete walkway about 40 feet below. It landed right in front of a dog, the dog tried attacking it, but it just ran off all shook up. It's entertaining watching them try to get into squirrel proof bird feeders for hours.

I don't think I've ever seen a quail around here.:( I'd like to, though. I would also like to see a mountain lion - from a very, very, very, safe, and far, distance.

I get sheep, goats, horses, rabbits, birds, cats, dogs and more. I like in a semi rural area its more of a lifestyle property than anything else. It rules.

Hmmm, I suppose when I'm next up north I could wander off into the forest and find a real Kiwi or something.

Just to shut up Sage though.

Pffft. Well, yeah. If I saw a big ass bear I'd run faster than I've ever ran before. I'm not ****ing around with a bear dude. I'd rather be laughed at forever for running, and screaming, like a girl than have my face chewed on by a bear.:odd:

Sparrows are fun to shoot.👍 So are stray dogs, and neighbor's cats, but you didn't hear that from me...

There was this annoying as Blackbird that resided in a tree near out house, it would start squaking hardcore at about 5:30 in the morning. Dad got pissed because he wanted to sleep in a little more, so he borrowed an Air Rifle (illegally) and shot the bastard.

I also downed a few of its family, good fun.

That's the spirit!

If it's brown - it's down! If it flies - it dies!

Your dad is teh stuff! Show those blackbirds who's the boss, oh and those magpies as well!

There is this park on my way home from school, which has a family of magpies, 2 or 3.

It's so funny to see it diving from high above in the trees onto the kids below, but it isnt funny when it dives on you.
