Sorry guys, here is the Red Bull blog's author’s response to my tweet. Doesn't look like it is happening.

Ok, If he only mentioned it once then I'd understand, but the article mentioned Pikes Peak multiple times....So either he has never played the game, or there's just something much more deeper in this.

In his "correction" he says he really meant a hill climb track modeled on Pike's Peak... What hill climb track?? I wouldn't be surprised if something is coming and the blogger let the cat out of the bag on accident.
 
Might be talking about Eiger dirt variation? :)

I have only driven the track once for the rally challenge, but it's quite far from being modelled anywhere near Pikes Peak, except for the fact that it has a rather large hill...
 
If they did mean the eiger, why would they write the whole article about pikes peak?

Someone letting the cat out of the bag seems the mist likely explanation right now, but seriously, how do you accidentally publish an article about something that doesn't exist?

Nothing about this makes sense.
 
Maybe their version of the game already has everything unlocked. So they assume that everyone knows its there? I think thats highly a slim chance of being the answer, but thats what it seems like. Don't they have their own little gaming setup got GT5 from the x2010 video shoot. I'm sure that version of the game has a ton more stuff to it then our version does.
 
If there is going to be a DLC I hope there will be the Test Course from GT4, too. For example the Highspeed Test, I miss it. :(
 
Indeed, I would not be surprised if the track ended up on the cutting room floor, along with things like the Italian cart track.

I would assume RB likely had access to many pre-release builds of the game, which may have included a Pikes Peak or variation of something similar, which was removed from the final release for whatever reason.
 
Probably just many things that was not finished yet that RB got to test out. Like PD says. The game isn't finished and there is more to come. Hopefully all these things will be around soon.
 
I wouldn't expect anything half close to DiRT's full Pikes Peak track, if it's ever going to be ture in GT5...

Imaging hitting the "invisible walls" instead of dropping some hundred feet into the valley......

Speaking of things left on cutting room floor, does Cote D' Azur feel half finished to anyone else? All the buildings on the backside of the track are completed in much more detail and are much more well textured. The tunnel and building overhang overlooking the sea and the bay full of yachts however is very bland and lacks detail, the flat blue texture on the water for instance, when a track like Grand Valley has a very nice and glistening water texture on the lake. Like one of those things that the course designer was working his way from the back forward and ran out of time at ship date but they decided to leave it in. It just looks out of place and raw to me, not to mention all the AI is bugged like hell on the track and runs into the tight corners. I can see why many other great GT4 tracks are absent also, hope they return sooner than later in DLC :(
 
I wondered about this bland backgrounds and lack of sharpness and wondered if this was to aid the 3d effect for those using 3d (sharper objects project forward against backgrounds?)

I'd be miffed if I lost fidelity for 3d that I don't use. but to be clear this is pure conjecture.. I havnt seen it in three 3 yet.
 
The tracks coming from GT4 all feel unfinished. Leaves you wondering what the hell they've been doing since prologue.

Which makes me wonder, if some of the tracks we have look like they were ported from GT4 (like Standard cars), why couldn't we get all GT4 tracks in GT5? Why have only some GT4 'Standard' tracks and not all?
