I second that, full 12.42mi Pikes Peak course, to the same level of accuracy they have done for the Nurb'.

Then they just have to add...

Rod Millens Toyota Celica Pikes Peak
Rod Millens Toyota Tacoma Pikes Peak
Ari Vatanens Peugeot 405 T16 Pike Peak
Walter Roehls Audi Sport Quattro S1 Pikes Peak
Stig Blomquists Ford RS200 Pikes Peak

Then we could try breaking that elusive 10 minute barrier...

i watched the video....omg i was about to crap myself seeing the sheer drop down the mountain....and the turns....omg i totally forgot what Pikes Peak is like!!!! That sun was terrible....i'd crash cuz i wouldn't be able to see! MAD PROPS to all those who have raced it...that is some true skill right there! 👍

Without a doubt, it would finally give the Escudo a good reason to be in the series (as it had in GT2).

BTW is the Stig Blomquist RS200 the one in my gallery (click on the gallery button at the bottom of my post and look at the Rally Supercar pics (pages 2 and 3).

Met Stig that day (very nice guy) and saw the car in action, damn thing spun the tyres in every gear, it was insane). If you look at the 240z front shot (page 3) you can see Stig Blomquist in the left of the picture having a good look at the 240Z.

OMFG that was amazing! What a f'ing thrill to ride on that pike  Please pd put both pikes peak. the long Pikes peak is 12 miles?

Yeah....The guy have to be a VERY PROFESSIONAL RALLYER lol :P If he miss his shot....he can kill his self radically :S

So.. i HOPE that PD brings back this track again to fight it....at least Virtualy in GT4 :D

Yeah, that seems to be it, just after they started developing it (about 2000/1), they brought it to New Zealand for "The Race To The Sky".

One run it hit 137mph along the short straight about 2 mins into the run, but then it had a engine bay fire for the last 7km of the run, which was still quite quick. Unfortunately the damage sustained was too much to fix before the race the next day.

"Race To The Sky" has been good to go to, we've seen Monsters Escudo/Grand Vitara, and the later versions of the car (Aerio??), Rod Millen brought the Toyota Celica the first 2 years, and now has a highly modified Tundra. The late Possum Bourne developed a 550+hp Subaru, from an old Group A WRC car...

All good!!!

I didn't really like Pike's Peak in GT2, but then again, it was only a section of the whole track and the only way to win was to buy an Escudo ...

You may want to take a look at the teams site, some good stuff on it.

How good could it be with the new graphical engine...or technique with PHOTO in background...it will just be AMAZING...like Grand Canyon!!!!! :D

Im fortunate to look at Pikes Peak everday of my life as its only 30min away from me. This years hillclimb was alright. Fog rolled in and we didnt get to see the Rs200, open wheels, trucks but the SCCA was alright.

I really do hope they include it. Pikes Peak also seems like the proper playground for Group B cars now.

WOW That was an amazing video. Even if they did put it in GT4 (which we would have heard about by now, its a big selling point for the game) I think some of the fun would be lost, since they would probably put in that "impenetrable" orange fencing we saw on the grand canyon track.

Nice video! Simply amazing. I've always wanted to see what the Pikes Peak races were like but never bothered to actually find any videos :)

Um... you know kaz said that every track from previous GT games would be in GT 4. so we can at least expect the abbreviated version, if not the full 12 mile climb.

hey guys.............i really dont think that they can accurately replicate pikes peak in gt4.....there is way too much going on when racing up to the peak.........1) ive read that as you climb to the top the altitude changes so much that your car actually gets slower as the ammount of oxygen in the air decreases.....i dont think that the programers added in anything that can simulate what happens to the atmosphere when you ascend a mountain.......2)no nitrous in gt4....it will be impossible to break the 10 minute barrier without nitrous.......please correct me if i am wrong about gt4 not having nitrous........im sure there are a few other factors that come into play when tring to climb this hill.........i had a really cool article on the pikes peak toyota tacoma from motortend or car and driver or something like that.......if i find it i will scan it for you all ........

Cool for the scan...it will be great...

So for the NOS part...it is in GT4, but probably not available for all mods or course or car....anyway...we don't know at the moment...wait and see...and HOPE for better! :)

The performance drop off that comes with the increase of altitude, is a well-known fact. I even think that there is a formulae for it as they 'map' the engine hp specs for both the start line and what it ends up with at the finish line.

Currently the record is 10:04.06 held by Rod Millen in the Toyota Celica, it is widely acknowledged by some of the Pikes Peak veterans that Millens Toyota Tacoma or Celica is highly capable of a sub 10 minute run, especially given the right conditions. One regular American Pikes Peak competitor even said to me that he suspected Millen of sandbagging, as once 10 mins was broken Toyota may or may not withdraw it's sponsorship. So as both these cars are without NOS, sub 10 mins w/o NOS is highly possible.

This same guy said to me that 'when' Millen got competition at Pikes Peak, 10 mins would fall instantly, as even though Monster Tajima Suzuki is quick, it isn't a match for the Tacoma. Maybe next year will see something happen as Mach 2 Racing (the Ford RS200e) is pretty determined to break that barrier, maybe this will prompt Millen to return to Pikes Peak after a couple of years hiatus...

the video is simply jawdropping
thanks for the link!
if PD already added this track to GT4
that would be a big surprise

after 12/3 ... many people will wet their pants off

Does anybody know if PD put the Pikes Peak Rally track in GT4 like in GT2.
I asked it the PR-manager of the "race to the clouds" - already weeks ago now.
This is his reply :

I’m not really in the loop on the licensing end for the PS2 games. I’ll check to see if anyone around here knows about it.

Regards,

Since then I had no news any more. I guess if he does not now about it, the official race is not in.
But the road to the top of the mountain Pikes Peak is a public road AFAIK, so it could still be in. Style "Côte d'Azur".

Yes Pikes Peak would be awesone in GT4...

I remember reading once that VW were planning a Golf PP challenger with two Turbo/Super charged engines one driving the front axle and the other driving the rear axle. Man would that be awesome, I wonder if they ever got that one built.

I thought that Rod Millen uses a really, really modified Toyota Hilux???

Man I wish Possum was still alive. He was really going places. NZ's best Rally driver without a doubt

I've seen this video many times, one of the best racing videos I've got. It would be really good for PD to include the Pikes Peak track in GT4, it would take up alot of my time that's for sure 👍 But what would they do about the massive drops, just put barriers made of tape between little poles that you can't break through, that would kind of suck. Though they could do it rally game style, where you fall down but then spawn back up on the track, I don't mind that too much.

Some are saying that they hope it's added..... I think that you guys are forgetting that the final build is complete. I think............. I'll STFU now.

The guy is Ari Vatanen, a Paris-Dakar driver these day's and he used to be a worldrally driver to. He's also a swedish politician. That run we saw was the record on the Pikes Peak for a very long time.
