Goldwave is an excellent audio editing program. Trial is free at www.goldwave.com

all the backwards led zeppelin stuff I know of

I guess I can't upload Led Zeppeling stuff... its too big for their limit... :grumpy:

top one is what the backwards phrase equals when played forwards... and vice versa

And she's buying a stairway to heaven... (very very end)
(mumbling...)...backwards, hear words sung

------------------------

You stairway lies on the whispering wind
Cause I live with satan

------------------------

The piper's calling you to join him
The Lord turns me off

------------------------

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now
It's just a spring clean for the mayqueen
Yes there are two paths you go by, but in the long run
there's still time to change the road your on

Here's to my sweet satan
the one whose little path would make me sad whose power is satan
He'll give you, give you 666
there was a little toolshed where he made us suffer, sad satan

------------------------

And it makes me wonder
There's no escaping it...

------------------------

There's a feeling I get...
I... Gotta live... for satan

------------------------

Crazy... I'm trying Geo****ties to see if they'll accept a file upload larger than .25 megs

edit: bastards... geocities won't let me upload a zip or an mp3... well, you'll all just have to do it yourselves...

mp3 of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven"
trial version of goldwave

that's all you need... and I'm goin to bed for the night.

I just finished listening to this part and it's unbelievable :scared: :D

It really sounds like he is saying all that.
Awesome!

Now I am going to listen to Empty Spaces.

EDIT: The part that says "Congratulations, you have just discovered the secret message..." is really clear, but the rest is too low of a volume compared to everything else, so it's really hard to pick out the words.

This is some really interesting stuff. Guess I'll have to play songs backwards more often, from now on - I might discover something similar :D

There's a few other songs with some interesting results when reversed.

It helps if you use goldwave to slow down the pitch to about 90% on the led zeppelin...

the pink floyd one is admittedly hard to hear, but it is there, and its very intentional. I think they did that almost to poke fun at the political figures that were complaining about backwards messages at the time.

I agree. It is intentional because they put those statements backwards in the song, already.

Stairway to Heaven, on the other hand, is really cool, because the forward message (which is part of the lyrics of the song itself) gets changed into something completely different, when played backwards.

Maybe it was intentional, maybe it's just coincidence, maybe we are reading too much into it. But, if it was coincidence, then it was a very fortunate one, as making a whole verse of a song say two different things when played forward or backward is comparable to the chance I have of winning any lottery: ~0 :D

By the way, thank you for the cool link, Shannon.

 All this stuff about reverse lyrics is interesting, but it's also complete bull... Messrs. Plant and Page are amazing musicians, but they're not THAT amazing to be able to sing in reverse phonetics... the real reason that people seem to think that Zeppelin IV is littered with hidden messages is probably more to do with news stories about Page being a follower of Aleister Crowley at the time, and so people started listening to his music searching for references to the occult... in reality, if you play any piece of music backwards, you can interpret the sounds to mean anything you want... as for the 'outside forces' controlling Robert Plant's vocals... it's more likely to be Jack Daniels than Satan himself... I'm not saying the other examples are all bull as well... there are some geniune reversed messages on the Beatles' White Album, but they are obvious...

Yeah, the Stairway To Heaven reverse lyrics are really choppy. You can only really make it what its saying because you know what to listen for.

The Led Zeppelin example was definately not intentional. But there is a phenomenon called phonetic reversal. Basically when certain words are spoken and then reversed, it can make an entirely different word. I believe this is the case with Stairway to Heaven. It just happens by chance, and the odds of making an entire verse forwards and backwards are insanely high... but I guess it was done.

He he... that jeffmilner website is cool...

The Empty Spaces messages says something like "Please send your answer to (...) Pink, care of (....) Chalfont..." can't make it out exactly... The important thing though is that it's totally indistinguishable when played the right way round....

edit: Just looked it up on Google with those words... that is what he is saying: he says 'Please send your answer to Old Pink, care of the funny farm, Chalfont'

IM very HO, I reckon Pink Floyd have done some belting stuff. Dave G. is one of the most soulful & skillful guitarists I've heard. (Listen to Coming Back To Life off The Division Bell!) I really want his live DVD!
