Yes, Pink Floyd is truely a great band. Through changes in members, That crazy Diamond Sid Barret leaving, then Roger Waters Leaving, the band has withstood the wind of time.

And yes, The wall is great! A Classic for all to see and experience. Has anyone seen "More"? Pink Floyd did the sound track for it.

Best song IMO Comfortably Numb a live version, 4:30+ minute guitar solo, truely awesome. I had my first Floyd experience at age 3 when my dad made me a tape of Dark Side of the Moon :)

Earlier this year, I heard a great bootleg of David Gilmour in concert starting the opening guitar to 'Wish you were here'.

He got about fifteen seconds or so into it, and the crowd went nuts - as they would.

Gilmour stopped playing and said 'this is song is really important to me, so shut the f*%k up' and restarted the song.

I think it was from Glastonbury or one of the English festivals, but instead of the second acoustic guitar they used a violin, and it made the song incredibly haunting (the vat may have gone a little misty, but circumstances....)

Floyd are top stuff

My favs are....... not in order ;)

Comfortably numb
Wish you were here
Shine on you crazy diamond
Hey you
Learning to fly
Run like hell
One of my turns
Another brick in the wall part1
Coming back to life
Mother
In the flesh

Look, I fancy myself over their stuff, untill I hear it.

Who here remembers the opening song from the movie (that should have been in the movie) with the cental character's father hunched over a candle and killed 'in black 44) - it's a great piece, and puts Roger Waters absolutely into context.

I've got The Division Bell, I think it's ace. But then it probably signifies that I don't like them too much! Have any of you guys got Roger Waters' album Radio KAOS? If so, what do you think? I think it's ace!

I'm not a fan of the concept album thing - I dearly loved 'The Final Cut', but for me that was all Roger Waters had to say.

My father, a big Floyd fan, loved it, but looking back I really feel I let Roger go at cut - I loved 'Animals', but after 'cut' that was it for me...

The final cuts an awesome album, also check out More, Obscrued by Clouds, and Meddle.....also, there was an import into the united states a few years back called Pink Floyd: The Film. It was the actual Sound track to The Wall....

And wasn't the song called:

"When the Tigers broke Free Part I"

It was just before dawn one miserable
Morning in black 'forty four'.
When the forward commander was told to sit tight
When he asked that his men be withdrawn.
And the Generals gave thanks as the other ranks
Held back the enemy tanks for a while.
And the Anzio bridgehead was held for the price
Of a few hundred ordinary lives.

Does anyone know why "Hey You", one of the most associated songs to "The Wall" wasn't even in the film?

And why one of the most emotional songs off of the film didn't make the album (The Tigers broke Free parts I and II)?

Radio KAOS and Amused to Death were both decent albums, but I had a hard time getting into them...When they came out, Pink Floyd was in a null from releasing new material, as a result, I somehow unjustly expected Roger's solo work to be my Pink Floyd passifier, while I waited for their next album.

I think I liked Amused to Death better than Radio KAOS. If you haven't heard it, it's worth checking out. :)

"What god want's" is still a song that pops into my head now and then, very sticky!

I bought the What God Wants single. I think I bought it because I loved Radio KAOS so much I conned myself into believing I liked it, but the interest soon waned. I might play it again and see what I think now.

I've got a lot of their early stuff - Obscured by Cloud is good - is that the one with Echoes as the last track?

Echoes is off of the Meddle album if I'm not mistaken. I'll tell you right now though, I'm terrible with song titles as I know them by track numbers...

Comes from years of learning music from a CD player while driving down the road... ;)

Check out the DVD again.... It's not on there, but you'll find it in reel #66 I believe, in the special features.

The edited the part of the movie with "Hey You" cuz they felt that section "just didn't make sence"... Go figure! :)

Whats the name of the song that goes "Welcome to the Machine" or is it "Hello Christine"?

That would be "Welcome To The Machine" off of the album "Wish You Were Here"...

BTW - If you have some pumpin' subs, check out this song. This is the song that ripped my Rockfords! :)

Gotta love warranty!
