It's wired, plugs into the controller. These:

SteelSeries Arctis Pro v2

I could hear people cough, or clear their throat - but faintly. I couldn't hear them talk... I hooked it up per the instructions (really only one way these will hook-up). Tried turning up / down the volume control, mute / un-mute the mic . Maybe people just weren't talking, or answering me.
Out of curiosity, which one of these is it you have?
The one on the left (ARCTIS PRO) or the one on the right (ARCTIS PRO + GAMEDAC)
I'll tell you why I asked. A hint may be browsing down the screenshot to where it say "Compatibilities". Based on your reply I may be able to shed further light.

I'm guessing the one on left. I asked the doofus at BB if these worked with PS4 and he assured me that they did. My fault for not doing my homework. I'll be returning these tomorrow. . . Thanks dt33!! Maybe I can buy just that Gamedac thing.

The ones I got did have instructions for use with a PS4, but it definitely had the " USB Chatmix Dial" thing...

Just checked, can't find where to order the GAMEdac separately, so I am just gonna order the others off Amazon (which is what I should've done in the first place). BB didn't have the $250 pair, but had the $180 pair and he said it would work fine.

Okay... sheesh, I'm like a lost sheep with this crap. Found the GameDac thing - but it's $130 by itself (would be over $300 total for that and the set I have!!). Just gonna return those and Amazon says I will have the headset by Thursday.

[[You guys may not want such a high maintenance racer in your series after all! Hahaha! ]]

lol, I would love to help but I am not familiar with that headset brand.

Yeah. I was doing some research prior to my response to try and see if I could figure out whatever to try and help. I had a feeling then it may have been the one on the left "Arctis Pro". When I looked below at "Compatibilities" it said "PC". Further reading said it was limited for that particular purpose (PC) and that some features (eg: Chatmix) would not be available for PS4. Hence your dilemma.

The one on the right, on the other hand (ARCTIS PRO + GAMEDAC) is compatible with both PC and PS4. That is the one I recommend you get. It has setup instruction that should be pretty easy to follow and get you going. Check out the hyperlink and you would get an understanding even before for a heads up. There's a video tutorial to show you. This: https://www.youtube.com/embed/TwYS2YRHMow?autoplay=1

It looks like a decent headset to me (the one with the GAMEDAC) for PS4 compatibility and proper hookup and PS4 setup. If you could get the one you purchased exchanged for it you should be good to go. BTW, Arctis is a good brand. You just need to get the compatible one.

It's funny, I have bought both my kids Steelseries keyboards and mice for their PC's, it's top notch stuff (without it costing the ridiculous amounts that "pro" gamer's use). Their metal keyboards and have all kinds of lighting options, have to admit, they are pretty cool, but mainly they are just sturdy and well made. I had got them some Turtle Beach stuff a few years ago [an NO offense if anyone here uses that brand!!] and while they worked fine, they were just made out of very cheap materials... and of course they broke them after little use.

Anyhoo. I looked up the one I "needed" on BB's website (after finding them on Amazon), said they had it in stock, so I go at lunch yesterday and they don't have it, shocking I know, so as I'm looking at all the headsets and guy comes over to help. . . And here I am, needing another headset because lo-and-behold they DON'T work with a PS4. :irked:

Hellovating isn't it? Man before I bought my last headset some months ago the amount of research I did before settling on the one I eventually got was phenomenal. I had some extra considerations to consider also as I have a fair amount of accessories including soundbar and a ButtKicker transducer (vibrator thingy) gaming so I had to be particular that whatever I got would communicate well with each other. In the end I was very pleased.

@barryf1fan
Although this headset is fantastic for PC it is not a good choice for PS4
I don’t think you can balance game/chat volume on the headset

I’m in for this Thursday (with or without damage) :D

Can anyone recommend one, that I can get locally (in a brick & mortar store)?? I wold like to have it for Thursday (I'm gonna dig around and see if I can find the little plastic one that came with my PS4...

My advice. Don't rush it Barry. The important thing is to make sure you get a compatible headset to suit for your gaming system and needs. If you don't get one (or a replacement in time for this Thursday) there's always next week. "More haste, less speed" (Old saying).

The SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC Gaming Headset is a decent headset (PC, PS4 compatible)
https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Arctis-GameDAC-Headset-playstation-4/dp/B079YBKTRN/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1550016737&sr=8-3&keywords=steelseries+arctis+pro+++gamedac+gaming+headset&th=1

This is the one I have. Very good also (Wireless)...(PS4, PC compatible):
Razer Thresher Ultimate for PS4: Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound - Lag-Free Wireless Connection
https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Thresher-Ultimate-PS4-Connection-Retractable/dp/B0719RHFQX/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1550016991&sr=8-3&keywords=razer+thresher+ultimate+for+playstation+4&th=1

The Wireless has the advantage of of course...Wireless connection. The battery (rechargeable) for this lasts quite long (added benefit)...approx 17 hours.
Thing is this was made especially for gaming and doesn't have 3.5 connection to say the back of the TV's 3.5mm port in case you wanted to use the headphone for TV. But it's excellent for gaming (PS4 compatible) and setup is a breeze.
Connection is as follows:
The base station/receiver it comes with connects to the PS4 (USB and Optical connections) and TV's Optical port.
The base station pairs with the wireless headset establishing communication. And voila...There you go.

I've posted links for Amazon as they're available there and you can benefit also from the reviews. You may get them in stores also I presume.
Long and short....Get something suitable, good quality and will last well. All the best.

If you hop on for some practice tonight, hopefully, you can get those issues sorted, this way all you have to worry about tomorrow is the racing, and pit strat.

I will def be in for some lap practice tonight. Picked these up today at lunch:

Astro A40 TR X-Edition

They aren't the best available - but seemed to be the best "bang for the buck" option, plus they had them out and I could put them on my head. Very comfy. They are also an established brand when it comes to gaming headsets. I watched 5 or 6 Youtube reviews of them before I decided on these (was already worn watching/researching headsets. )

Is it normal to already have some butterflies in anticipation?? :scared: I'm just hoping I'm not in "the way" - there's no worse feeling than that.

Quick question. Is it the one that comes with the MixAmp accessory that could connect from the MixAmp to the PS4's USB port, or the one that doesn't come with the MixAmp with only the wired connection being 3.5mm (headset to PS4 handheld controller's 3.5mm port)?

I didn't get the mixamp, yet. I'll pick that up in a couple of weeks. We'll be gone on vacation all next week (will miss next Thursday 21st). It will work fine without it, just can't mix the volumes (game/chat), or adjust bass, treble, etc., etc. I just wanted one that would work and can add to it as $$ allows.

But why, did I screw up again? lol! If need be I can run by BB on the way home and pick it up...

Oh, and I won't have surround sound without the Mixamp... which is fine for now. I'll still get game / chat audio through the headset. At least that's what I was able to find earlier.

Sounds like a plan once there's allowance to add the MixAmp whenever later.
Yeah it's because of the chat feature is why I asked due to the limitations of just having the 3.5mm wired connection from headphone to controller. You would be able to hear but I'm not sure others would hear you speak.

Ideally you'd want the ChatMix accessory to better enable the 2-way chatting I think with the connection that goes from the ChatMix accessory directly to the USB port of the PS4. Following that you could then do the setup procedure in the PS4 Home Screen "Settings" section for "Device": "Audio" (Headphone).
Anyway I guess you'll see how it goes.

I may not be running laps tonight, just working on Audio gremlins!! :D

Can you hear me now? ;)

Race 4
.......Let's get confirmations going for tomorrow's race!!
BTW, I'm in. Like Flynn.

Watkins Glen GP is a great track for this car. Nice and wide with good stretches and wide corners......Unlike the previous tracks, the devil COTA and Godforsaken Long Beach, and far worse in rain.
