Well as of time/date there's a ton of variables
-People having work/school
=Hours that come with that
-Vacation
=Pretty much depends everywhere
We'd need a track where we wouldn't get bored (ex: NOT indy or daytona ;p)
whether Racing assists would be allowed (i'd hope so)
what kind of car limits, if there were any

I imagine this though as not a race against other people, more of a race against ourselves o.O

Some people are saying in January, so we can do the first week of Jan.

We'd be doing the 24 hour Nurburgring of course! We can do a private Lounge, so only those invited can get it.

16 users can race, while 24 can spectate.

GT-Planet can bring their best 8, and Giant Bomb will bring their best 8.

The two rankings are Most Laps and Best Single Lap.

Most Lap - Add up the total laps, and divide by the number of users on said team.

Best Single - GT5 keeps track of the best laps in Free Race, so no worries about that.

Some of the rules being talked about:

Lap Are Voided Under the Following

Crashing
Bumping Into Another Driver
Cutting Corners
Idling in First Gear

Allowed Breaks

Every FOUR (4) Hours, all users MUST pull over and take a 20 minute break to do whatever. You are free to masturbate, eat, ****, pee, etc...and this is the ONLY time you are allowed to take off the headset and be away from Vent.

Pit-Stops, during Pit-Stops you will get about 30 seconds to 2 minutes of break, during this time you are free to do whatever you want. Pit-Stops are yours to do, just keep in mind you lose a lap by doing this.

Vent Checks

To prevent users from giving the controller/wheel to a buddy, all users are allowed to challenge another user for a voice check. if the user can't respond within 10 seconds, 5 laps will be taken off that user's end total.

If a user is idling in first gear for longer than 5 minutes, he will lose 5 laps off his total lap count. This must be challenged by another user or must be noticed by one of the spectators.

Scoring System

Total Team Lap - After adding up the totals of each team member, and taking away all penalties...divide by the amount of users on that team. The team with the highest lap count wins the Total Team Lap.

Fastest Lap - The First to Tenth place users with the fastest lap are given 10 points to 1 point, the team with the highest combined fastest lap wins the fastest lap.

As for cars, have all Super GT's & LM's or regular fast cars and tune them to the max..... I'm sure if this spreads to ISR we can raise alot.

Super GT would be fine, if we go by BHP limit...does 800-900 sound fair? Hopefully no one brings an American or Italian car. >.>

Btw first week on January lands on a sunday...Idk if you guys count monday as start of the week or not
 
I would do untuned (short of tires) SuperGT to be honest, they're way more fun to drive like that :D

if we have to drive for 24 hours, might as well have fun doing that.
 
If this event was planned out on a weekend where most people don't have any obligations such as work/school than it would work out well. I personally would prefer that the event start on a Friday night/Saturday morning. I would be all over this.

I think I have a good idea for this. 💡 Lets get different people hosting their own rooms. The title has to reflect GTP Charity Race. We can pick these people beforehand so they can give us the room info etc. Each of these individuals can choose which restrictions they want to apply to their rooms. One can choose to allow unlimited HP and only Bugattis while another can choose to do Pick Up Trucks only. The leader of the room would take the responsibility to track the different stats such as laps completed etc.

If I'm suggesting ideas that have already been stated than please ignore me. :) I'm looking forward to this. Hope it works out.

The plan was to start a cross-site competition between GT-Planet and Giant Bomb, 8v8 into the lobby for the full 24 hours. I'm pretty new to GT-Planet, so if you guys want to do your own events and whatnot I understand!

Also i vote for same cars vut different liverys. My vote might go for nascars here. many different liverys and very alike cars.

I dont find any other class more similar. not even the Super GT cars do same laptimes but same class.

Or just we all use exactly same cars. I want it to be even...

I'd love to at least be able to watch this. I wonder if someone could stream the race so people could check in and watch? I've seen people do this for other games :)

I'd be okay with that, we need to stream each room and each audio stream. I was trying to open up a cross-gaming event between two sites.

We still need to discuss logistics of making this possible, and when to set up the press release to get people to know when it's going to happen. Also to set up the Child's Play donations.

We should get a group of people to talk about this, but we do have a full month!
 
I would say like this that we need to earn our places in the race. Like a qualifiing. Becuse i really want to be in and dont want to base it on luck like lottery.

Just replying on the 8 vs 8 topic in the OP. 8 from GTP and 8 from GB.

My track suggestion is Nordschleife. Its challengeing and also very long. So we dont end up crashing every lap becuse of lapping or something like that.
 
I would like to partipate in this event. Hopefully this happens on a weekend or the week following Christmas. (I have the entire week off)

I use a wheel/chair and am hopeful that this takes place around the Nurburgring. I have driven the ring 100's of times.

I wont be able to compete (driving wise, I won't do GTP justice) but if I could spectate, that'll be cool. How many can spectate? If it is 24, 12 from each site.

It should be across Nordschleife, a long track and 24 hrs can cause a lot of mistakes as it is demanding unlike Indy road course or any others.... the people don't want to see 100% perfect driving but a close race.
 
Nordschleife might actually be easy to drive for long because it's long and has a lot of features to keep you awake. 24 hours of Indy oval... the thought alone is killing me of boredom. :)
 
@SeoulSpirit: As long as people are willing to stay on! From a few hours to an hour-ish, gotta figure out the bandwidth!

I would love to participate in the race and testing event saturday (spec or racer). I am alos willing to help you plan the event out if you still need some help, got a 3 week break from classes with nothing to do.
