Yesterday Play.com sent me an E-mail stating that my order for GT5 Prologue has been posted.

But today I've got an E-mail from them stating:

Dear Customer,

Your copy of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue was received late to our warehouse from Sony and has now been despatched.

As we have missed the release date we would like to offer you £3 off the price of Grand Theft Auto 4 coming to PlayStation 3 on April 29th.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any disappointment this may have caused and thank you for your patience and valued custom.

But I got a dispatch E-mail sent the day before and my Play.com account says its been posted.

What do you guys think?

Maybe because we won't get it release day even though it was a pre order.

I got the same two E-mails and in another forum lots of people are having the same problem with play.
It's very annoying considering i pre-ordered on 5 february.

If my copy doesnt come tomorrow (which it better do)

I'll update my JPN version and then play that till the Euro copy arrives.
 
Yeah pretty much what I'm doing. although the local games shop has one uder the counter for me tomorrow. So all is not lost.
 
A little while back someone recommended www.shopto.net and advised that they get games out not only next day, but invariably before release date.

I made my first order with them yesterday at 1.00 pm for GT5 Prologue and received it this morning 1st class recorded delivery.

Great service.:)

Play are usually spot on I guess with such a demand for the game it was bound to happen. Just a little suprised I preordered it back in January :grumpy:

Yeah sorry - know how you feel.:sly:

Hope you get it quick. It's pretty darn good and my biggest gripe with GT has always been the paltry 6 car grid and up to 16 cars makes me look forward to future endurances much more:)

BTW - is your quote direct from the Metallica song, or is it quoted from whatever the original source is? Either way it's a great verse from Metallica's To Live is to Die:)
 
They said that there were shortages of the game as preorders have been through the roof!

Meh I would take the £3 off GTAIV but I would expect more like £7 seeing as you preordered..

I may try and attempt the JPN updates download now.. people are finding it takes ages to fully get without it failing!

I got the same e-mail today. It seems that play.com are trying to pull a crafty one here. They have set my order history to say that GT5P has been dispatched so I can't cancel the order and buy elsewhere.
 
I think this mail is just advertising/spam, cause a 3 pound discount is just crap, I guess they hope we all order gta4 now we can get it so 'cheap'

anyway i think the offer sucks, i allready pre-ordered gta4 for 50 euro's (30 and a bit in pounds), I'd rather see them give me a 3 pound discount on gt5:p instead. if it really was an "we're sorry and we would like te make it up by making you a good offer which you can't refuse" they should have made the discount larger.
 
I got the same email from them this afternoon, made the pre-order on the 20th ... to avoid this kind of delay! GTA4 for £36.99, I suppose its better than a kick in the teeth.

I'm expecting it to arrive tommorow anyway, was watching the status of the order like a hawk all day (F5 is now worn out completly!) and the status changed to 'posted' fairly early on in the afternoon (between 12 and 1), so I'm confident it made todays post.

I reckon they saw the huge interest in GT5:P on their site and decided to secure a few more pre-orders (for GTA) while they're at it.
 
Play.com will show an order as being "dispatched" before it has physically been sent. Once the payment has been verified and the item has been packed it usually sets its' status as sent, despite the fact the it could be sitting in the warehouse overnight. You'll notice items listed as dispatched at timew well outside normal postal operating times.
 
Nothing so far. Playing JPN version to keep me occupied until it arrives.
 
I phoned play.com and gave them a piece of my mind. I told them that it was laughable that a big organisation can't even get a game out to their customers on release day, whereas Joe Blogs who owns the little gaming shop on the street corner can. I also told them that the normal 20 odd other items I buy from them each year will cease, as from now.

Well, it made me feel better. :)

Do you think it will come in a saturday delivery or will I have to wait all weekend till Monday night untill I can play a game I've waited so long for?

I think I speak for a few people when I say I wont be using play.com ever again.
