Play.com suck 👎 Nothing from them with the postman this morning ... Now I'm off to town to buy a copy and the play.com copy can be kept back for an extra PS3 we have in mind .. little consolation :ouch:

Bad service and wont be using them again :grumpy:

I ordered mines from play.com on the 13th, also got the email/discount. They dispatched it on the 26th, got the email on the 27th and have now received the game today morning.

I was quite annoyed yesterday too...

My Play.com copy never arrived but yesterday I ordered it on amazon at half 4 in the afternoon and guess what just popped through my door?........

A nice shiny copy of GT:P wrapped in the colours of Amazon...............the Play.com copy when it arrives will be getting sent back.

I still await my Play.com order. Have just been round my mates to play on his copy he bought from a shop. I think thats what I should have done too!

That's the one thing I hate when ordering online. Waiting for the post, then it doesn't arrive. I usually buy my copy direct from the shops in town.

I'm glad to say my copy arrived this morning so I have had a quick go, I have now also received a ÂŁ5 off code for Little Big Planet from Play.com. I still do not intend to use them again however, all my Blu-ray orders have now been swapped to other companies.

Scaff

Well, still no emails here, and still a pending charge to my card. Completely pointless preorder, looks like mine won't even be shipped until Monday at the earliest. At least you folks can go out and pick yours up if you are willing to pay for the extra copy.

luckily my play.com order arrived today. If it hadn't i was going to buy one from a supermarket and take back the new play.com copy when it arrived.
If your copy hasn't arrived yet maybe you could do that?

Just got back from buying my copy from Gamestation for 25 quid :dunce: I'm weak ... play.com can expect no more orders from this house thats for sure 👎

Ok off to do this update thingamyjiggery and join the mayhem online :)

Still nothing here. Apart from the e-mail.

I went and brought a copy of it yesterday though ÂŁ19.71 from asda.

I guess that, despite living in Themiddleofsoddingnowhere, where the post is brought via an arthritic old donkey and liable to be intercepted by cowboys, I was lucky. My copy arrived on the launch day, 2 days after the e-mail I got saying it had been dispatched (as always happens with Play).

As far as I know, I still received nothing here, guessing monday will be the day, which makes it allmost a full week after the dutch release date...

I got both the e-mails and before either of them I got a notice of dispatch via e-mail on the 27th at about half 2 in the afternoon.

Hoping I got the game today and I never :(

Play.com wont be having anymore business from me.

My copy didn't arrive on friday either.

Not wanting to break my tradition of having every GT game on release day, I went to Zavvi and picked a copy up to tide me over..

Whilst i was waiting for it to install and update, i called play and gave them what for.

The woman on the phone didn't give a damm, stating "It's only a game, it doesn't really matter whether you get it today, tomorrow or monday". Until i demanded to talk to her manager who was more apologetic and explained the delays etc but still didn't offer any sort of compensation.

I received the email you all mention too, ÂŁ3 is a bit of a pants discount on an individual level, but when you think about how many people probably received it.

The copy i ordered from play arrived this morning, so i'm going to pop that one (still sealed) back to Zavvi and get my money back from it.

Not the best way to deal with eager pre-ordering customers play..... don't let it happen again!

I just got back from work :sly: and ....

... Nothing! :crazy::ouch::scared::yuck::dunce: :grumpy: :guilty:

Argh, so annoying, I was grinning all the way down the road and right up to my door. God damn I hate play.com now! I gave them the benefit of the doubt before.

They can go 'Removed by mod' themselves! I'm probably going to write a stiff email to them. Got a good mind to organise a bit of a petition of everyone who has been messed around by these cowboys and show them how much custom will be going elsewhere from now on!

God!

Annoying!!

:banghead::mad:

my play.com GT5P STILL hasnt arrived!!!!

so I went into town and bought another copy

so when the other GT5P arrives it'll go straight on flebay

Im another one struck by the Play.com error, do they think that ÂŁ3 off a game i will never buy help? Im in the process of righting a letter of complaint, because i know that they delay in them receiving the games to dispatch was not their fault, but a ÂŁ3 discount was a poor effort to make me happy, what they should have done is post it out first class so instead it would have arrived today instead of next week.

Yeah I have to say that discount sounds like a low-blow. At least they could have made it for anything off of their website.

There were two cases in which I had trouble with an online order. I had a $140 shipment at Newegg, but they couldn't ship it on time because of technical difficulties. They shipped the whole thing overnight and gave me a $25 certificate. I was pretty pleased since my order wasn't exactly time sensitive. The second was when Amazon had trouble charging my credit card. After some time on the phone the guy said he would try to solve the problem. They overnighted the PS3 and I had it the next day.

My theory is that they seriously under-estimated how many copies they needed to meet their demand. Then when they asked Sony for a larger supply of GT5:P they couldn't comply with them.

I've not heard back from my contact (that sounds so cool!).

I think you're right in part Sureshot. I don't think that anyone would have predicted such high demand for GT5P but there has been. The c**k ups seem to be accross the board though.

Sony had massive issues with the PSN updat on Thursday meaning that the game wasn't available until Saturday morning at the earliest and even then, i would imagine the weight of traffic on the site caused it to slow to crawl at best.

I hope that both Sony and retailers (be they bricks and mortar or online) learn a few lessons from this debacle and ensure that there is enough supply to meet demand for future releases.

I know that several others have done this already, but i have sent a copy of this thread to play.com and am currently awaiting their response. I will keep you posted on this if/when i hear anything.

UPDATE 0955: Having spoken with play.com again (a nice woman called Natalie), they seem to be a lot more receptive about the issue than they previously were! This thread has been sent through to their management for review. I also mentioned that ÂŁ3 off pre-ordering GTA IV is not necessarily a desirable compensation for everyone.

I urged play.com to get one of their management signed up to the GTPlanet forums to allow them a chance to answer our questions and queries in the best possible way. Here's hoping they listen to this and work with us all to provide a truly ammicable solution to the problem! *fingers crossed eh?!

Good work legroom :) thats the way to approach it.

I got my copy in the post this morning :sly:

No more GT HD! Yay!!

Though I'm still wary of using play.com for pre-ordering again.

I feel sorry for those helpline operators at play.com being forced to get a shouting at by you thugs

since I still haven't found anything in my mailbox, has anyone received their game yet?
oops, that's some great timing by me...

Mine just arrived from Play.com. It's installed but I'm still trying to apply the update.

Same here, 3 attempts now, done 50% on the 2nd try.

I thought it saved the progress of the download? :scared: It keeps starting at the beginning

Now Monday morning here, no word from play.com for me at all-no updates, no shipping tracking, no response to the email I sent two days ago. Now I see the pending charge to my credit card has expired. Either I'm not getting it at all, or I'm getting it for free. I wish they would just let me know-I needed ANY copy of GT5P before next weekend, I already made plans, dammit!

Call your local GAME, Currys, Comet, PC World, Argos, GameStation, etc. If one of them has a copy, get them to reserve it for you.

Then call Play.com on 0845 800 1020 and tell them you want to cancel your order.

Then just go into town and buy GT5: Prologue from where-ever you reserved it.

Simple!
