Anyone else out there actually ENJOY a little friendly contact in their races? You know, jostling for position a little cramming in the corners, gentle body-checks on the straights? Sort of like how 90's touring car racing was just so intense. :dopey:

I personally enjoy races like that alot more than races with heavy damage and people who insist on super realism? :)

I know I'm going to get alot of hate for this post haha... :nervous:

👍

I guess the friendly bumping sort of happens naturally while racing, because sometimes people brake unexpectedly or turn in sooner or later, etc. So unless you decided you would Finish Him!, it's all good.

Same here. :(

I love the old BTCC races where no car came out with it's bumper intact. I feel it gets dull when there's no contact.

I'm struggling to find the innuendo here. Columbian humor must be really sophisticated. :D 👍

It's Mortal Kombat. 👍 I agree, Columbian humor is really sophisticated... Colombian humor is pretty much how it is in the rest of the world. :sly:

Here's "playful touching" in modern motorsport:

If it's on purpose no. It can happen by accident, but if its happening on straights you need to be more careful.

Yeah, straight guys don't usually like been touched up by a stranger.

The innuendo in this thread is a massive lol :D I don't mind a bit if rubbing either, its the big hits that annoy me.

To be honest, I always try and keep the rubbing to a minimum. But, sometimes a particular corner is just so tight, and if I happen to be driving a big car, it can be a squeeze. But, with racing I always end up happy in the end.

I love to rub and nudge, but things can get too tight and you have to withdraw or suffer serious injuries... to your car.

As long as I don't end up in a hedge I am fine.

That's not "playful touching," that's "crucial touching". If you don't bump draft on a Superspeedway in NASCAR, it's game over for you.

I dont mind thats just racing in my eyes, now if you clearly send me into a wall or something, then there will be issues. Even when that happens just apologize and all will be good

Playful touching is fine and dandy, as long as all participants are consenting adults. Otherwise you're likely to end up on a register...

Awkward title, purple text? 💡

I don't mind "playful touching" with my friends in non-serious races. :dopey: Occasionally we take each other out in the drag to finish.

I find nothing amusing about deliberate "playful touching", if you want to keep it clean and real with zero damage as it's done in RL, try everything to keep a couple cm between yourselves, and if you touch, then it should be due to pressure of slight mistakes, misunderstanding or aggression of course. None of this homo stuff please.

Having grown up watching DTM and BTCC throughout the 90s as well as the wheel bashing antics of the last few F1 drivers to possess actual testicles (Senna, Mansell, Schumacher, Hill, Berger, Hakkinen, Verstappen etc.), I genuinely believe that theres nothing wrong with some bumping and barging.

The problem is that certain media agencies since the mid 90s, such as Autosport and News Corp, started firing out the word "cheater" quicker then the UN hands out relief, as a result everyone starts to think that something that is normal in motorsport is actually 'dirty' or 'cheating'.

Back in the 90s if you made a late lunge down the inside, tapped/wacked your opponent and in doing so took him or both of yourselves out or infact you deliberately took someone out of the race then there was nothing wrong with it as long as it didn't take other people outside of that battle or caused a pile up.

To further the point I tried to make, look at the two following clips:

^Here Sandro Nannini is taken out by Roland Asch which takes him out of the title hunt, what Nannini does is he goes back out on track, hunts for Asch and runs clean into the back of him in revenge, did anyone think wrong of this? No, they just got on with it.

^Here what happens between Stefan Mucke and Richard Westbrook is more or less identical minus there being a title at stake, due to years of warped-minded opinions in the media, they didn't get on with it, everyone went into a kicking a screaming fury demanding that Mucke be banned from motorsport.
