Playseat/Buttkicker question

Hi all,

This is my first post and I have a question in regards to the buttkicker/playseat setups here. I have a plan to order the gamer 2.0 and a mini concert, but use just the gamer's amp to drive each one. Now, I wont be using them at the same time, but my plan is to use the gamer on my office chair and the mini concert on the playseat using the included bracket of the buttikicker.

Now, before I order, I called Buttkicker and they suggested that I get the BK4/BK300 setup as the playseat Evo is too big for the gamer.

Is it?

I see some of you have both, so if you would, please comment on whether the gamer is enough or is this guy is just trying to upsell me. Or would I really benefit from the BK4 setup?
Thanks

I think it could work well, but would be difficult to really mount it properly unless you just place a leg under the bk platform thingie. Put it this way, I started w/ just a playseat, g27, and a bk gamer2 and if you know me at all on these forums you can see how easily it can grow from there. I would go w/ the BKA300 setup and you will not have to worry if you upgrade later on, the bk gamer is a bit lackluster for my liking but that is me I was continually running it at full strength. But again I really do not know how you would mount it.

Like has been said the gamer models although giving you that "tactile feedback" is limited in its sheer power.
The 300 model is the best value/performance in their range with a better amplifer, but dont be too surprised even if you were running this close to max.

The BK Gamer 2 amp is only 2ohms and not 4ohm like the BKA 300 so if you ran in sequence an additional concert model (also 2 ohm) then your only going to get 1/2 of the output power from BK Gamer 2 amp and that might not be so good. Youd need to disconnect one if using the chair/cockpit at different times. Ths means you have 2x Buttkickers but really only getting benifit of one at a time.

edit:

For the Playseat you could easily cut a bit of wood for under the seat section and mount this to the bent lip of the two sides supports. Then drill a couple of holes to bolt on the BK underneath and the seat on top.

As a purchase option you could consider buying a DJ/PA amplifer with suitable wattage that are 4ohms and being stereo one of these could be pretty decent for running 2x Mini LFE models. Then mount one Mini LFE for the seat section of the Playseat and one for the pedal/wheel support section.

For the 2nd Mini LFE you could devise a small wooden shelf for the office chair with a "G" clamp to attach it to the chair. The Buttkicker could then be bolted to the bit of wood and removed with a simple wing nut/bolt but changed over from the cockpit or office chair when you wanted. This would then give you the benifit from both Buttkickers on the cockpit. 👍

Thank you guys for the replies!

I get the feeling that I would regret the gamer to some degree, but I think I wasn't clear on my mounting options. The gamer and mini concert transducer are the same from what Buttkicker told me, so I would mount the gamer to the office chair for FPS and other games. Then use the mini concert and use the 90 degree brkt. to mount it too the playseat side frame which is stamped steel which I would think would be great for vib transfer. I would not be using them at the same time, but it gives me the ability to have a buttkicker "experience" for whatever type of game I would be playing. I would have to run speaker wires to each unit, but I would just connect to whatever kicker transducer I would be using. Hope I made sense.

Is the BK4 really gonna give me that much more kick?

Thanks again guys for all the tips.

To my knowledge the "Gamer" transducer is smaller than that used on the Concert or Mini LFE models (which are the same size just 2/4ohm) and the BKA 300 is a bigger more powerful than those.
In comparing the Gamer2 - BKA300, one is only 90 watts of power to the other which is about twice as big with 300 watts. Stega can give you a proper comparison as hes owned both. I myself own BKA 300 and 2xMini LFE

Where do you live and what are the prices of what your considering compared to the BKA 300?
You may have to simply decide if its worth spending the extra to get the benifits of the BKA300, however if your in UK like me then the option I mentioned for dual Mini LFE with a DJ amp will not only give you more power and dual options but cost less than the outrageous £400 UK price for a BKA 300, that almost $600 here in the UK.

I live in the US(Michigan) and its not really so much the money, but the ease of use that the gamer/mini concert will provide. I suppose that I could always return the mini concert and get the BKA. To be honest, what I really intend on doing is using the mini concert and my Turtle Beach X41 headphones, so as long as I can get some good feedback I'll be happy. Thanks again and I will take some pictures and post them.

The BKA 300 is a wireless setup and is very mobile, I move mine from the Couch to my cockpit and so forth. The wireless function is between the transmitter that connects to your AV reciever which transmits to the amp and transducer. You place the amp and tranducer wherever you want to use it. You can connect the BK amp or transmitter directly to your PS3 if you don't have an AV receiver in your home theater. The actual transducer is mounted to a base that you can place under the leg of a couch, it also uses some rubber isolators to isolate the couch/chair and perform a leveling function as well. I have put the BKA300 under a drum stool while playing Rockband and it is more than enough!

Hey man you should go to smoketronics.com and but the mini concert they will
Sell you a bracket that mounts to the seat and som isolators it's a whole package you shOuld check it out first it's an extra $30

I had the gamer and mounted it to my playseat using a socket, washers and bolt, it didn't provide me with enough oomph. I'm thinking the mini concert at 90 watts would be similar. I sold it to a buddy who mounted it on his chair and he really likes it.

I upgraded to the BKA 300, more than enough power, 90 watts versus 300 watts :-)

Here's a page from the buttkicker site showing the options for transducer and amp set up.

Are these recommended for apartments?

I live on the third floor. I do not want to make life miserable for those living below me.

it depends on the type of flooring. the gamer would be much less likely to cause a huge amount of grief. and you can control the level of output.

I'm in the process of building myself a rig out of wood and was going to get the CSW + F1 rim with the CSPv2.

I have only just heard of the buttkickers and am really interested to include one or 2 in my setup.
I have a few questions though.

How wise is it to mount a second buttkicker down near the pedals?
I heard the clubsport pedals can have issues with sensors failing etc. so was wondering if mounting a buttkicker so close could cause loosening of sensors and conncections from all the vibration?

Is the mini concert better than the gamer2? I don't need the room to vibrate :) Just some good feedback is enough for me, don't want it to be too weak either though.

Regarding amps, I live in Ireland so dunno about the cost of getting the official ones. Is the any specific things I should look for in a regular dj/pa amp to provide the correct frequencies to the buttkickers?

Would you guys say one under the seat is enough or would you recommend 2?
I'm using 7.1 speakers so would I take the signal from the front l/r line or the sub line?

Is there a way if you were using 2 to split the feed into left and right and have one unit on each side of the rig to simulate correct effects from each side of the car, or is the signal sent not precise enough to do this?

Thanks,

Mark.
