Its a dev kit; not a release model. You need hardware with better specs to develop on than the hardware it will be running on.

And that's old.

So in summary, it's possible that I'll buy a PS4 even though I made the switch to PC about two years ago. It still depends on GT6 and the Metal Gear games though. None of the games they showed tonight really blew me away, Watch Dogs looks alright but as I said when they announced it, it's Ubisoft and Ubisoft always finds a way to mess something up. I haven't played Assassin's Creed 3, though, so maybe I need to change my opinion.

The two different RAM levels was talking about devkits, not final kits. The presentation was pretty clear on RAM if it wasn't with the rest of the hardware, 8GB of GDDR5.

From the titles shown at the presentation, Watch Dogs and Drive Club are the only ones who got my fully attention.

Hoping for a holiday 2013 release, in Europe too. :D

They didn't really say much really. Gave some specs, showed off the controller in low detail, than some new games. Nothing real special but they said there will be more presentations to come all this year. I assume it will get more detailed each one leading up to release.

I trust the devlopers behind Drive Club, seeing how a range of their people know how to make a fun racing game.

I wouldn't if I were you, Evolution Studios have some of the worst customer support I've ever known. They let their games die miserable deaths and completely ignore their fan base/customers.

Has GDDR5 been used for system memory before or just graphics cards?

Controller looked alright but I hope that wasn't the final FINAL version, it looks a bit cobbled together with random bits in random places. I like that the grips seemed larger and not so curved though.

Just graphics, hence the name.

Just graphics cards (however I am sure there is an exception to that).

From what I understand the PS4 will be using a shared memory architecture ; meaning the entire machine will utilize the same memory as compared to a PC (or previous consoles) that use system memory (ram) and video memory (vram).

Jesus how did spell check miss "archeetecture" lol its suppose to correct my mistakes for me.

The game reminded me of TDU2 and I see it as a TDU3. Since I think it will in the end be just as horrid as TDU2.

GT5 Spec III to hold us over until PS4 & GT6? :D

No.

Seems closer to PGR to me, albeit in a different setting. It just didn't wow me at all, give it PS2/3 graphics and, well, it's just any old racer from what they showed. Hopefully there is more to it.

Another big thing for me is the potential of having the entire playstation library at hand. PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 all together on one console? There goes the need really for HD collections. I'd definitely have all the Gran Turismos.

He worded it very carefully though, mentioning that it was a 'goal' and 'for the future' something they want, which to me means you won't see anything close to the entire PS collection near day 1, probably just something similar to what the PS Store offers now. PS3 will probably come later.

Faster, and since it will be shared between both the gpu/cpu (apu) (ppu and any other pu lol) it allows devs to allocate memory where they need it.

Drive club looks no better than gt5 graphics, infact a lot of it looks worse from the video with details more like forza.
PS4 should look like gt5 photomode, textures with no blur at close up and no polygons visible.

I remember playing the first midnight club racing game on PS2. It looked like a sharper PS1 game.

Not surprised at all a possible launch title racing game has graphics that dont quite blow you away.

Launch games are hardly ever a good barometer for how the best games will look.

Ya bro... looks no better than GT5.

I swear some of you play GT5 with "HD vision" glasses that provide you a false sense of reality.

But this isn't the GT5 vs Drive Club thread.

Love the low blow to Forza though; obviously you're a fan boy.

So what is the big advantage of this GDDR5 ram then? Faster data transfer?

If you are talking about GDDR5 as in graphics then you can have anti-aliasing, anisotropic texture filtering, etc. Since it is shred RAM devs will be able to use the RAM wherever they need it but it will probably be limited to allow access to other background functions mentioned in the presentation.

Not sure if this has been posted.

Drive Club will have consistent visuals of GT5+ quality, THATS how I see it.

Well this thread exploded over today hasn't it?

Anyway, did they reveal anything else besides controller and specs? (Couldnt watch it)

I'm looking forward to playing PC games on it. :) Surely someone will figure out a hack, c'mon!

I have a feeling that the PS4 is somewhere deep down running Linux, because it wasn't that long ago Blizzard announced they would start making games for Linux just like Steam has ported its client to Linux.

GO LINUX! Dominating the world, one at a time, and most people don't even know it. Love it! <3

If the PS4 is released with a great range of launch titles, then I think my wallet will find the nearest corner and cry.
