True, but the air flow has to be free of wires too, ya know?

And I updated the BIOS like 10 times already, it tells me to restore defaults each time too.

Interesting, does the error remain with the default settings too?

You'll probably have to wait for the new BIOS to come out.

Yep, it still comes up first, then it says you have to reset your current settings.

This is the sceen:

BTW, you should have gone for 2x512Mb sticks of memory instead of a single 1Gb stick. Your motherboard supports dual-channel memory but you're not availing of it with a single stick of memory, so you've only half the memory bandwidth you should have.

Yeah I know, I'm ordering another gig of RAM, hopefully very soon (near my birthday :) )

And what's CMOS jumper? and where is it located?

I believe it resets all the settings in the BIOS. When I flashed my BIOS, that was the last instruction.

Check your motherboard manual, or look-up CMOS on Google and try to find something similar on your motherboard. It shouldn't be difficult. It's similar to the jumpers on hard drives.

👍

Win.

It's pretty easy to find. Usually if you look around your BIOS chip on your motherboard, you'll find a jumper that says "CMOS"

Not yet but I reached 50C on overload so far, but it ran for a full day so I don't know. No problems right now. It's at about 45C.

Yeah I don't need it. But when I can finally find out how to Overclock well, and I have money for new components to this PC, then we'll see ;)

Well done Matt! Its been great reading this thread as you build your computer, great stuff! 👍

Cool, my cousin builds computers also, he just ordered an AMD Athlon 64 proccessor and ATi graphics chips, his computer will, in the end cost him upwards of 1000 dollars, and he is only 15 :D

I will look into building computers, considering I have a tower sitting around doing nothing.

Hey Matt, now you've built your system, whats the performance like in general? is the C2D fast? How much quicker was it than your previous cpu? Whats the 7600GS like?

7600GS? I have 7600GT

The system now is overall faster, I can do more programs and have lots of stuff open at once now. I still wish I can get the other stick of RAM I want beacause I want the same exact one as I have in my system now but it went up almost $50. It's $150 now, or pretty damn close. So if I can get that I'll have 2GB of RAM and I won't be using half of my bandwith (or something that some one mentioned before) for the RAM, I'll use the whole and it should be going a lot faster and in games too.

FEAR is good for now, I'm an uber big noob in it still but I love it and it's a good challenge. Still on the second checkpoint :P I'm getting Battlefield 2 and Counter Strike: Source soon also from my sister and that should wrap it up for now.
