Just wanted to get everyones opinion. I am really getting tired of pressing my X button repeatedly over and over advancing through the tuning menus.

What is your take on it. Do you do like me and just keep pressing the button even though the ok button isn't fully up on the screen?

PD please make this less restrictive and quicker to tune a car. One click buys and installs the parts. The majority of the people probably want the part installed when they buy it. Four button presses for each part is a little excessive imo.

I don't think anyone can disagree with this one. Well actually there may be one; the bloke who did the menu design.

What about X for buy and install part, Triangle for buying part without installing?

Absolutely!

The constant press-button-to-confirm makes very little sense. They dragged this over from previous GTs, but while they gave the main menus complete redesigns again and again, they kept this for whatever reason.

In my opinion, buying, installing and altering parts could and should be designed to be much easier.

Yes please fix this, I know it's been the same sorta thing since GT1 but it's getting kinda ridiculous, come to think of it most of the game is retarded yet for some reason we still love the game.....

Yes, this needs to fixed. And also please disable the annoying background music in the tuning mode !! It drives me nuts...

I have never understood why GT series don't have a simple tickbox too checkmark and then an install all parts at once option.

The menu design is just pathetic. Why does it need to confirm the part installation is complete? Can it ever be incomplete? Also why in the tuning shop we can't actually tune? I have to go back and forth through several slow loading screens to adjust the part I just bought. Why is aero tuning in a different very slow to load section (GT AUTO) ? Bying all parts, adjusting them, repairing your car, race moding, rims changing, painting and changing oil should be in the same section.

That sounds good to me as I don't always install the part after buying. Many times I'm in the Tune shop and to save time I buy extra tires or something and later on add them to a different car from the items menu.

I prefer the classic ones, but these ones aren´t bad at all

The whole menu system needs a complete overhaul IMHO.

There's too much navigating and loading involved, and loads of bad menu choices. It seems like the menu was the last rushed thing PD worked on after those 5 years.

These new menus have been overcomplicated and there aren't any confirmation screens where they should be.
Like before you restart a race.

Even if there's a clear majority, I have to ask this:

Those 20% who voted for the menu system to remain as it is: do you actually prefer to press X several times for each tuning part instead of, for example, having a list with tickboxes where you simply tick what you'd like to buy and then checkout and pay at once?

Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion, I don't mean to offend you with this in any way. I'm just having problems to believe that anyone would explicitly prefer the former to the latter, hence my question.

Oh ****, I didn´t read well the post, I thought he meant the GT Life menu.
The tuning menu in my opinion isn´t practical far

Yes I keep pressing the x button, as it's less stressful than trying to press it once each time a useless confirmation box comes up, as it does not always register that I have pressed the button which drives me crazy, I can't believe they still have all these useless things you have to confirm, someone should make all the PD staff modify 1000 cars to the max and see how they like it. It makes me wonder have they even played their own games, that they don't realise how badly layed out the tuning is since GT1.
Why do I have to press x to confirm the parts are fitted, when I already confirmed I wanted them fitted, obviously they are fitted because that's what I asked for, what else can I do it's not like I can change my mind, there's no other option, just press x on the OK button for no reason what so ever.

Those 13 people so far must be the ones that didnt read the OP properly lol

They should adopt a "shopping cart" part shopping style. You select items with checkboxes from a list, then confirm the purchase only once at the end when you're done.
I remember something like this was in the old Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed.

Would love it streamlined. Absolute unnecessary nonsense.

4 clicks to install a part, zero clicks to restart a race accidentally.

There should be the ghost of a car and you should be able to scroll over it and go to the various body parts to upgrade.

Check box or option box desperately needed as a summary buy. Once all parts are selected, do one big purchase. I am fine with the Autoparts tuning being separate. But it would still make more sense if all purchasable parts were together though.

The sad thing is they actually made a good menu for installing aero parts where you select what you want then install and pay for them all together. Why could this not be used for the parts shop? 2 divisions not talking to each other?

^^^ 👍

Having spent literally a few hours in the stupid menu upgrading the many cars that I've won, or randomly bought in the UCD, there needs to be a change to the menus for sure. I like the idea of shopping cart, but I would also like an option to Buy all install all. One button to get everything on the car.

Man, I was just about to type something about the way aero parts are purchased and installed. You read my mind. Anyway, it completely befuddles (ha!) me that they didn't use that design for purchasing tuning parts.

GT5's User Interface design is definitely stuck in 1998. And that's not to say I dislike the whole 'GT' approach to menus either, but when you have to press the same button, what, 5 times to do one thing, and static (non-3d) menus have long load times, things are due for a revamp.

Yes. Sure it can get tedious if your upgrading/purchasing many parts for many cars all at once, but thats not the idea of it.

I feel it has more of a meaning the way it currently is setup. Looking at the main menu, the GT Life home screen. You have destinations. You go to your garage, you go the GT Auto, you go to the Tuning Shop, you go to the Used Car dealer etc. Its a representation of traveling from your place to the destination, represented as best a menu can.

Going into the tuning shop, the poll you have posted here. You peruse the items by category. You purchase items, you either put them aside to fit them later. Or you have them fitted at the parts shop. The time it takes to view, purchase, fit parts are menu based representations of real life. Its not instantaneous, its not one click and its magically in your car. Its small, but its a nice touch.

Would it be better to have animations for the fitting of each part into the car like the animations in GT Auto? Maybe a shopping cart for all the parts you wish to purchase, and upon checkout you have an animation where like an engine overhaul in GT Auto.

Anyway, I like it how it is, in some cases yes it can be tedious and when I want to fit 12 cars with a full setup of tires for online racing quickly, I do wish there was a faster solution. But most of the time, it works perfectly fine how it is, I think it gives the game character and is a simple way of representing real world values in a menu system.

I'm sorry Lion-Face but this really reminds me of when Apple zealots try to justify some fault by saying it encourages good habits- for instance, the aerial problem on the iphone 4 wasn't a problem, just a nice touch to encourage you to hold the phone properly!

Press OK!
