I know many people that can't get enough of this track, and I know people who hate it. Personally, I'm pretty neutral. I don't exactly love it, but it's fun to do a race there every once in a while. After racing there as much as I have, it's still hard for me to follow every turn well and anticipate exactly what is happening, but I don't get as easily lost as I used to.

So what are your opinions of this beast of a race track? :sly:

It's a cool track, and a staple in motorsport these days, but I'm not overly psyched about driving it every day. I give it solid "meh."

I use to just be neutral at this track.
When I tried Mission 34 in GT4 (after countless attempts, I still lost by 0.4 seconds :( ) I loved it half, half love (?)
During and after getting Gold in the AMG Driving Academy Special Events, I really started to love the Nurburgring, really appreciate it.
Before I use to just keep crashing, but now I understand why it's such a great track.
I've also found my new test track :D

Favorite. This track tests my driving skills the most. My favorite lay-out is the 24 hours at night
All those people standing behind the fences. Did a really lovely race 1 on 1 with that lay-out. One of the best GT5 moments i've had so far.

and i'll say again...if the Nurburgring was the ONLY track in the game, i'd still be a happy man.

The only reason I see for someone to hate this track is if they can't drive it.

i checked yesterday on their website, and a run on the nordschleife costs 24€.

I plan to drive there sometime soon with my GF and drive a lap around it :dopey:

It pisses me off sometimes, but thats mainly due to some of the "features" of the game (like the vortex that sits in the grass which sucks you in as soon as you touch said grass)...at high speed (race cars, lmp cars.) I find it hard sometimes to stay off the grass totally, especially when passing, and more often than not end up flying uncontrollably to the wall.

That being said...love it.

I can't understand how someone would hate it. I mean yes it's challenging but that's what makes it so awesome! If I manage another good semester in college I'll be driving it in the Summer :D

LOVE it

I hate setting up a really good lap then having the car break loose (like a tankslapper on a motorbike) and lose up to 20 seconds trying to bring it under control without slamming into a wall or any other cars.

You say this to a guy who has 200 points to the 24H Nur race? Please... Nurburgring is just a "Cruz" track to me, and I love every inch of it.

<3

Used to hate it as I originally thought it was too long. Now I love it , it looks great and for this reason I now enjoy driving on it.

I neither love it nor hate it.

Driving solo on it is fun.
But doing a full race is kind of annoying since there's almost no room to pass. Makes me wonder how the old F1 guys did it.

And I can't personally use it as a test track as my lap times vary wildly due to my poor consistency on that track.

Funny, that's what I do for any car I get. XD

Love it, I've loved it since I learned it well on GT4. Admittedly it can be tough if you don't have it memorized, but once you do there's no track that can compare. I haven't driven it much on GT5 yet because I'm saving it for when I run out of other things to do. Then the Ring will occupy my time for months/years to come, just like in GT4.

Also, night/dusk driving on the 24hr course with the fans and grill smoke is spectacular. It almost gave me chills the first time I saw it.

Mostly hate unless it's a small amount of horsepower. With faster cars, it's really hard to stick on the track because it's so narrow/uneven and has some pretty rough flow for me. I like to race clean and it almost always claims my car, while the AI flies around it like it's on rails.
That last Nascar challenge in Bonus Race 3 was terrible -- even with an oil changed car and SRF on, I finished a couple minutes down.

I think the Ring is the track that brings you closest to real life driving.

On something Tsukuba where a lap is only a minute, there is no fear of error because it's no biggie, finish that poor lap and try again. On the Ring though where it's 7-9 minutes a lap, an error is punished so much more because it either happens at the beginning and you have a long treck until you can try over or you have this sense that you just done 6 minutes of your best driving but you're coming up to some of the hardest sequence of corners in the game and really don't want to screw up.

No other track in the game brings about that same apprehension.

Must admit, I hated it in GT4 (thought it was too long & never had it memorized) and hadnt driven it in GT5 up until the Nascar seasonal event.

After my 4-5 laps golding the Nascar seasonal event, I fell in love with the track. Once I memorized it, it was like a light bulb went on in my head. Love taking newly bought cars there and testing them out. In my opinion, it is the best track for exposing a cars' weaknesses and fine-tuning a car with a setup that will work on almost every track in the game (save the ovals I guess). I still think its a bit long, but I guess thats most of the fun, trying to hold the car together for a nice clean lap while driving at the limit.
