On a scale of 1-10 I would give Gran Turismo 5 a . . .

I gave it a 6.5-7. There are a lot of things that could have been better for as long as they kept putting the game off. There could be more variety in the cars and tracks, not twelve different variations of a Skyline.

I played FM4 at a friend's house and it is a better game IMO so I have decided to go on to that instead.

7.5 - 8 bubble chosen.

I'd give it a low end 8 - A very nice experience and some nice features. Not the best in the series for me. Many questionable choices made. Many lacking elements.

I can only hope PD take notice of what other devs across the board are doing with their games to improve their own, as they are not the only game in town.

Ive always felt that this iteration of Gran Turismo had Lots of potential but, MOST noticeably unfinished. With that said I still had and have a blast. I just get caught up comparing GT5 to GT3, GT4, and I can't lie the other competitors titles as well. These factors leave me feeling slightly disappointed however, never distract the adrenalin rush I get from trash a few cars around the track!

The imaginary game you mention already exists, but i'm afraid you'll have to buy another console.

Well that's subjective. Supposing you're right, I'd have to buy not only another console, but also a new wheel (Fanatec GT2, since it's the only wheel compatible with xbox) and therefore a new wheel-stand. Therefore Forza's out of the question for me, regardless the fact I've heard several people (and some very good drivers amongst them) that Forza driving model sucks compared to GT. Dunno if that's true, in fact due to above mentioned reasons I don't even care. And I definitelly don't wanna start a flame.

If we take the same game but with a different name and by a different company, it would be the game of the year, but if it's GT5 people expect a lot, that'd why some are disapointed. Well, I give a 9.5 because nothing is perfect.

this:tup: that is so right, people always do this. just like COD, if MW3 was made a game by a new developer then it would get a 5 out of 10

anyways for gt5: 8.7

I would probably give it an 8.5/10. I simply love the driving physics and the many cars. BUT, standard cars dont have a legit cockpit view, damage physics arent as good as they could be, and we are not recieving the monthly DLC that Polyphony Digital "Promised". Still a great game though.

We should devise a form of code talk, as making the comparison with Forza is a touchy subject on this forum.

I understand your motives tough, it is an investement but my dissapointment with Polyphony was so big, that i did it and haven't looked back since. I don't use a wheel tough which helps, the xbox pad is better than the dualshock luckily so it is good fun using it to race. The driving physics are almost on the same level as GT's, people that say it sucks don't know what they are talking about. And as a game, it is so well put together that apart from the cars and the races (which are a lot more exciting), you can spend hours on the second hand market as it is an online feature, or tweak around with designs.

There... that's all i'm gonna say about it, apologies for mentioning something that shouldn't be mentioned ;)

Really? That's one more thought for my friend, who has some other alternative unknown console ( ;) ) and hesitates between buying some other car game ( ;) ) + Fanatec wheel, or PS3 + GT5 + G27. Problem is, that the Fanatec wheel + pedals cost here more than PS3 + GT5 + G27 and have to be ordered from Germany, while PS3 + GT5 + G27 can be bought in a local store.

As for me, different console is not an option since I'm very used to my G27. Though I miss Porche in GT5, but on the other hand there's so many cars in my garage, that I haven't been driving at all or have driven less than let's say 100 km.

Even though the game should be praised for the things it did right, and is still mildly entertaining, I can rate no more than 6, for all the critics already stated in this thread (yes, I am that lazy).

For me is a 9.5. I love this game, and i wait a few years to play. I buy the game at day one. I dont like a few thinks in the game. Dont have the Manufactures races, like the others have, and dont have the Special Stage Route 11. This game dont have a lot of races, if someone dont have internet on PS3, cant play Seasonal.

I have never played a game as much as I have gt5 almost every day since its release bearing that in mind I give it a 10/10

+1 on that. 10/10. It has its faults but I've been playing it for more than a year and a half - Only other game that has come close for playtime for me was COD4 with I think..24 days online spread roughly over the same timeframe.

I gave it 8.
Only 3 Bad things: Very few Career events, standard cars and very bad and sterile car sounds.
And I think that's enough to take GT5 down from 10 to 8.

My previous 7.5 that I gave GT5 last year I downgrade to a 4. I'm heading back to the alternative console/game for some new fun, I just couldn't wait for Kaz and company any longer to deliver on the incomplete game and unfulfilled promises.

Now before anyone starts blasting, I played GT5 solid for a year and a half. I own 4 PS3's and 4 copies of GT5 (1 copy at my Son's house so I could get my fix when we visited on the weekends), I bought ALL the DLCs and the paints several times, I also bought a DFGT wheel and made a stand to set it up on. I totally invested waaaay too much money, time and effort hoping the game would get better or be finished or whatever you want to call it. Well, we all know how that turned out.

I just wanted GT4 in High Definition to tell you the truth...

I'll say this and go away, I do like the physics of GT5 better but that's it, I'm learning to adapt and tune on the "alternative gaming system".

Cheers and have a Nice Day :)

over a thousand dollars later....

Actually, it was only $500 for me. But yeah, it can be expensive to have a good wheel for both.

Considering I've played this game for years I'm going to have to give it a 10

the only other game that meets this criteria for me is counter-strike 1.6

best 2 games ever made? I think so...
