Wow, I know I may seem a bit base saying this, but I wonder if the cars shown (Evora, AMG ONE) is a sign of things to come...? ;)

How PD does their audio is an interesting read, thanks @Jordan

Im gonna do cartwheels if the AMG ONE ever makes it to the game
We'll do them in tandem buddy  What a car to be added....if it ever does.

Is it me, or have the 'GT car sounds suck' chatter lessened a LOT/gone away with GT7? 🤷 I know I'm happy with 95% of the sounds. That 5% being the sound of tires before they squeal, usually, like the low level noises. Great article though, so much effort into the sound improvement was time well spent. They have some hella smart guys at PD!

Again, we know they recorded the Evora for the Evora itself because the Evora was in the Gran Turismo Sport beta.

They've had that model completed for a decade and don't have the license for it (and, to be clear, them putting a picture into a tech talk does not mean they suddenly do have the license for it).

I wonder which cars, apart from Vision cars have their sound done only via the synthesizer

Another unexpected and fascinating story - a delight to read over my Saturday morning coffee 🙌👍

I will have a heart attack on the spot, should the AMG One (and Ferrari F80) ever make it to the game.

The Article

No Lotus of any kind has appeared in the game since launch, despite the brand’s history with the series going back to the first Gran Turismo.
Just a small correction: Lotus debuted in GT2. You had me asking myself if I had early onset dementia back there Jordan

GT7 car sounds are good for the most part IMO, although I'm no audiophile. I think the engine startup sounds (which appear to be an audio recording played back) always sounds more realistic than the car sounds when driven in–game. For example, the signature rotary whine can be heard on startup for the RX-7 Spirit R, but when driving, all that can be heard is the dull exhaust sound (and yes I am still upset that the RX-8 doesn't have the redline beep :grumpy:).

I also think that PD has gradually gotten better at recording and reproducing sounds since the GT Sport era, especially with regards to how a car sounds when upgraded. The sheer difference in the R33 GT-R and R34 GT-R is a prime example; despite them sharing the same engine, the R33—which debuted in GTS after the R34—sounds a LOT better when upgraded. I do wonder what PD does to emulate the sound of a tuned engine.

How cool would it be if the Lotus Evora came in the december update... Oh no, I think I just created false expectations for myself. 😱

I wonder why PD seems to be focusing quite heavily on sound, yet GT7 still sounds so lacking compared to ACC or LMU.

If it was the Lotus Evora that was scanned for the Gran Turismo Sport beta, this photo must date back to mid-2016 at the earliest.

To me, it doesn't make sense when you consider the cars pictured in this presentation; most of which were added in GT7 updates, sometimes recent ones. There are plenty of other possible explanations, but it would be strange for this photo to predate GT Sport.

snc

I would not say it is lacking in every aspect. Maybe when it comes to rawness/loudness. Would you agree?

PD also has the challenge of much higher car variety, upgrades, different environments (tunnels).

In my opinion, the main problem is inconsistency: Some are great, some are really disappointing.

I always like to compare the Hyundai Elantra N and the A45 AMG (because both are 2l Inline-4 compact sports cars):
The Elantra probably benefited from using the latest tech and from the know-how that has been gained over the years.
And it does sound great in game. The A45 however was probably recorded more than 10 years ago - it does not even have the iconic (and extremely loud) crackles and bangs on upshifts and downshifts.

I created this thread to collect all the critique in regards to sounds.

It would be great if Lotus ever made a return. As for the AMG One I really wanted that one so let’s hope they do come at least the AMG has a better chance no?
