GT-One Lover, your caps lock key doesn't have to be abused in every single post you make...

That's XJR-10, see that cover on the back tire? Wouldn't changing the tires in the back take some time since you would have to remove the cover?

Yeah, but in a longer race, it's not that important especially when you are refuelling and changing drivers too.

(I know you can't refuel and change tyres at the same time at Le Mans now, but I don't think it was the same then)

O some cars no, the wheel nut goes through the cover first, then the wheel, so they just take that one nut out the same as normal and the cover comes off with the wheel it's held on by some clips thats all. They don't have to take the cover off, then the wheel. On other cars they have to unclip the cover then take the wheel off which would take a little bit longer but not too much. I'd like to see how the pit crew do the R89 in GT4, that has the cover over the back wheels too.

i believe before 1997, the teams could do everything at once. they put the run into effect to make the pitstops safer.

I would think that it would be a case of "screw realism, the wheels will just come out through the covers" or they wouldn't put the covers on.

The covers weren't always used. Note the 2 XJR-10 pics on this page, 1 with covers, 1 without.

I'm pretty sure on the XJR-10/11/12/16 they had to unclip the cover.

Covers were in vogue when the mulsanne straight had no chicanes, in order to cut drag for maximum speed.

In later years the covers were dropped as more time was lost in the pits than gained on the track.

But the R89 in GT4 has the covers, so maybe they will go through, but with all the effort PD ha put into making it more believable I doubt he'd give the car the covers if he was just going to do that.

i believe in some pics of the game i saw and actual pitcrew at pitstops. with cars like the r89, it would be cool it you saw the crew actually lift up the flaps. but i doubt it, it will most likely be the same animation for every car.

You know if you guys want to discuss super cars, past and present, we have a forum for it. Otherwise, you've got another Wishlist thread we don't really care about, which has already been debunked.

isn there a vid of someone doing the ring w/ that car... or was it a nissan.... cant remember....

NO it isn´t in GT4 i think but the ´98 version!!!
ok the version from 99 perhaps looks good but wasn´t because it had no front diffusor which could prevent the flip at Le Mans--->the same was with the PORSCHE GT1 FROM98!!!--->it flipped at ROAD ATLANTA

bodybuilder
gt4 has Mercedes CLK-GTR '99. wrecked car at LeMans ?? it had super aeorodynamic design.
No it doesn't, the car that took off at LeMans was the CLR, the car in GT4 is called the CLK-GTR but it's actually a CLK-LM from 98 which didn't take off and it did very well in GT racing.
There were no CLR road cars.

Yep there are 25 CLK-GTR road cars and I think 1 CLK-LM road car.

Actually that is a CLK-GTR.

The CLR headlights are a little lower than the one in GT4.

The Game is Correct

Well, the CLK-LM looks very similiar. But I think the game would be more correct. Maybe not since GT3 called the MR2 Spyder a MR-S.
