    I’m a cat person.

I’m a Vet Tech who has spent the last 18 years working in a feline only hospital.
My wife and daughter have tried to get us to adopt a dog for about 6 years.
I either have not been ready or I couldn’t find the right dog.

Meet Carl. Saturday we will welcome him to his forever home.

This will be my first dog ever. Pretty excited and damn nervous!!!
I know nothing of dogs or dog medicine. Wish us luck.

Both are rescues, had them since they were kittens. Awesome mouse hunters, they already earned their keep quite a few times.

He is cuter and better than we all imagined.
Poor guy has had a long trip from Texas to our family in Portland, OR. (Rescue dog)
He came home, ate some food, had a big drink and then passed out on my daughters bed and slept well for hours.
However, 2 AM is not play time Carl. :D

    Definitely.

Although, I just left my place to head to work and as I got to the door, I see my cat down the hallway with his favorite toy in his mouth, ready to play. As soon as he see's me unlock the door he just drops it and looks at me with the saddest face. So now I'm pretty sad too

He’s adjusting to the new apartment pretty well, I think.

She'll turn 17 in June, so she ain't the youngest lady anymore

But since the diagnosis she has actually been ok. She's not in pain, eats normally, drinks a lot due to her kidneys, but she's not "gone", quite the opposite.

Her real name is April but we usually call her by one of many names, including Hippo, Dumdum, s***-for-brains, giant baby and many more.

She's about as brainless as they come and she's getting on a bit, but she's been our entertainment for over a decade.

@Boston77 are you still nervous about the dog? Don't be nervous, dog will learn you how to handle it just have time and patience. What kind of a dog is Carl.. He seems like a polite dog haha

Here's the small kitten I found yesterday alone by herself in the road. I couldn't find her mother nearby so I brought her home with me.

You know what? It’s similar to having my first daughter. Everything is scary and new and a constant worry. But, we just figure it out.

Carl, is no different. We are taking our time with him. He gets constant love and affection, Plenty on running around and wrestling with dad. He has obedience training scheduled for a minimum 6 weeks.

Carl is a mixed breed. He’s got some Brittney Spaniel and Border Collie in him.
He is a really memo dog considering what he’s spliced with

She's about the cutest thing I've seen :D Are you gonna take her to the vets just to get her all checked over?

    Also, bonus photos of Hippo.

For the foreseeable future, we now have a third dog. Unfortunately, I have not taken any more recent pictures and he is a little more plump than this picture (we are working on that though). Here is Zeus:

And bonus pictures of Penny and Scout:

Scout is the only one of the three that can jump on our bed.

And lastly, an older picture of all three together waiting for treats:

Jack is doing alright these days. Still splashes in his water bowl like when he was a puppy.

He is almost 4 and half years old by now and in feel like injustice introduced him to you guys yesterday. Whew.

He doesn't understand why he can jump on horizontal things, but not on vertical things, like people.

    Hot Nougat is hot.

There's a vent under the cabinet being funneled straight into the cone. And the ductwork makes the floor nice and chilly, too.

That's basically me sticking my head in the freezer when it gets hot in the summer and the we don't keep the house at a very comfortable temperature.
