I’m a cat person.

I’m a Vet Tech who has spent the last 18 years working in a feline only hospital.
My wife and daughter have tried to get us to adopt a dog for about 6 years.
I either have not been ready or I couldn’t find the right dog.

Meet Carl. Saturday we will welcome him to his forever home.

This will be my first dog ever. Pretty excited and damn nervous!!!
I know nothing of dogs or dog medicine. Wish us luck.

Carl came a day early!!!
He is cuter and better than we all imagined.
Poor guy has had a long trip from Texas to our family in Portland, OR. (Rescue dog)
He came home, ate some food, had a big drink and then passed out on my daughters bed and slept well for hours.
However, 2 AM is not play time Carl. :D

A pet is a good antidepressant.
Definitely.

Although, I just left my place to head to work and as I got to the door, I see my cat down the hallway with his favorite toy in his mouth, ready to play. As soon as he see's me unlock the door he just drops it and looks at me with the saddest face. So now I'm pretty sad too

Her real name is April but we usually call her by one of many names, including Hippo, Dumdum, s***-for-brains, giant baby and many more.

She's about as brainless as they come and she's getting on a bit, but she's been our entertainment for over a decade.

@Boston77 are you still nervous about the dog? Don't be nervous, dog will learn you how to handle it just have time and patience. What kind of a dog is Carl.. He seems like a polite dog haha

You know what? It’s similar to having my first daughter. Everything is scary and new and a constant worry. But, we just figure it out.

Carl, is no different. We are taking our time with him. He gets constant love and affection, Plenty on running around and wrestling with dad. He has obedience training scheduled for a minimum 6 weeks.

Carl is a mixed breed. He’s got some Brittney Spaniel and Border Collie in him.
He is a really memo dog considering what he’s spliced with

For the foreseeable future, we now have a third dog. Unfortunately, I have not taken any more recent pictures and he is a little more plump than this picture (we are working on that though). Here is Zeus:

Scout is the only one of the three that can jump on our bed.

And lastly, an older picture of all three together waiting for treats:

Jack is doing alright these days. Still splashes in his water bowl like when he was a puppy.

He is almost 4 and half years old by now and in feel like injustice introduced him to you guys yesterday. Whew.

That's basically me sticking my head in the freezer when it gets hot in the summer and the we don't keep the house at a very comfortable temperature.
