@GDII The MR2 is looking sharp!

Battery died in this, couldn't replace it all last week because it's dark by the time I get home, finally threw one in today and took it for a spirited drive. :D

I love this stupid car. I think it's leaking gas now.

Thanks man. Your collection of Toyotas is pretty cool. You should import an ST182, better yet an ST185. The ST182 is just a FWD version of my slow MR2. The GEN2 3SGE isn't that great but I guess it's better than the 5SFE. These engines are getting old so the GEN3 3SGE would be far better to just drop into your Celica.

Thanks! I've actually been kind of curious how much it'd cost to have a Celica GT-R imported, but I wouldn't be able to do it for a few years. Regardless, I actually enjoy driving my GT-S more than my dad's ST185 Alltrac so I'd rather import a GT-R actually.

The 5S works fine, but I do always wish they sold them with a 3S like everywhere else. I'm honestly not super familiar with 3S', but I'm assuming the gen 3 is the Beams? I'd be happy with any to be honest, and one of the cars I've been lusting after for quite a while is a T160 Celica GT-S because of that engine. There's one that's been sitting next to some guys house for what looks like forever that I'm tempted to stop and ask about..

The GEN1 3SGE came in the ST162, the GEN2 3SGE came in the ST162, the GEN3 3SGE came in the early or lower spec ST202 Celica and ST204 Curren, the GEN4 3SGE(BEAMS Red top) came in the SSIII ST202 Celica and the GEN5 3SGE came in the Altezza/RS200. They aren't all limited to those cars but as we a discussing Celica I kept it to them only.

The GT-R isn't anything special here but I guess in the US where you didn't get the interesting stuff it might be. You could just import a front cut but easier to get a whole car now. They came out in Japan in August 1989 so you can import them under your 25 year rule.

I'd say keep your black ones you currently have.
They won't fit the tires that I am getting. I am still keeping them but my track tires are going on 18 inch wheels. The ones I currently have are 19 inch.

Nice, not my particular taste in wheels, but they look really good on your car!

Thanks dude, I had to go with Japanese wheels for a Japanese car

Come on and SLAM

I'd say it needs to be slammed like yesterday, but tbh the E39 was more of a donk when I first installed wheels on it. But still, every sedan could do with a little lower ride height... 💡

Maybe some bags in the future?

Smaller wheels? Awesome! Second from bottom in that case, in a nice shade of black!

So here are some wheel ideas for my racing tires this spring. What do you guys think looks best? I'm having some trouble deciding.

Just based on the photoshops, 1 is looking the best in that color. 2,3 and 4 are too busy. 5 and 6 look too heavy. 10 would be the 2nd pick.

Ahh thanks for that. 👍 Id be happy with a gen 1 or 2 even, if I'm not mistaken they have more power than a 5S and rev much higher which is what I dislike about the 2.2 mainly.

To be honest looking at pricing of even GT-Fours, imported Celicas isn't too expensive, I'm assuming because of lack of demand. Celicas have a good following here but they're not that popular. It'd be easier to go that route I'd think.

The GEN1 and GEN2 3SGE are old now and getting parts for them is difficult. The GEN2 revs to 7k but no much point going much over 6k as it starts to run out of power and torque. They also like to run bearings on the track on long sweepers as the sump isn't a very good design. More an MR2 than Celica thing. Engine position maybe as they are the same engine. The GEN3 engine has 20 more horsepower, better mechanicals and better oiling system and parts can still be found easier.

What about weights of the wheels? No point stripping weight out of your car and putting it all back on with heavy cast wheels.

I think I am going with the Neuspeeds. They weigh about 19lbs.

After finally getting my P's (yay!) i suddenly worked out the downside of my family owning a sportscar. Insurance for me to drive it is freaking $$$$$ (Nay!). So i took initiative since i'm going to need a car to get around to my job, that's cheap to insure and stuff. Looked in the papers the other day and found a car, a few days later and i finally put in my first deposit onto it.

Its a commodore maaate!

A 2005 VZ Executive to be exact.

Despite being a ford type of guy i'm not all pure against holdens, and i have to say from driving this car it is smooooth, its got decent power, handles really well and its roomy, the boot especially which is good... when my family needs it. T_T its also got a towbar and electronic brakes(?) for towing which is good... when my family needs it. T___T The car's original engine (which had done 250km+) has been replaced with a refurbished engine (with only ~86km driven). Brakes, tires, transmission, essentially all mechanical parts have all been serviced within the last 6 months so there is no problems with those either.

I'm going to replace the stereo in the near future since it doesn't have an aux/bluetooth, but it isnt urgent at the moment. It's got cruise control and electric front windows, but the rears are wind-up (which i like for nostalgia). It's a bit dusty in the interior but nothing a bit of a dust and wipe cant clean.

The only issues this car has are minor, as it was owned by an elderly couple who regularly serviced and maintained it. There's just a couple of dints and tiny paint chips on the doors but thats easy to touch up and not going to kill me. Tbh it is barely noticable unless you know they're there. There's no rust which is another good thing. And besides, you can't expect a 10 year old daily car to be 100% immaculate inside and out, so for the cheap price of $4,750 (including roadworthy and rego till June next year) i'm stoked.
We've got the same car and we live in the same State :) 👍

I'd say just get a Gen 7 Celica. I dunno about prices over there, but here they're getting pretty cheap. they are quite lightweight, and have very good chassis. If you're wanting a FWD Celica, the 7th gen is by far the best as far as performance goes, just make sure to get the ZZT231, not the ZZT230. I had a Group A Carlos Sainz Signature GT4 (5th gen, with the group A spec 3SGTE), and my current car, a Corolla Sportivo, which has the same 2ZZGE engine as a 7th gen Celica, goes about as hard as my Group A did. Considering the 2ZZ is NA 1.8l and the 3S in the Group A is a turbo 2.0l and mine was running 15psi, they are very impressive little engines. Also, I love the 2ZZ's rev happy nature, with it's 8200rpm redline.
