Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one to spend hours buying and painting cars that I have (had) in real life just for the photos!
I'll have to get some in game photos of some of my current and past subies in the snow, but for now, this is the closest I've been able to replicate:
my 996tt ('03 911 turbo) at a hill climb autox this summer:
RUF RGT ('00 911 gt3) with some damage
wish it were a premium model:
the old lady's car ('08 legacy gt):
the closest thing in the game ('03 jdm 2.0gt)

I need a matte gray paint chip and a way to get rid of the stripes to really nail it...

No offense but I think the MR2 might be one of the worse looking cars in GT5 (graphically) It looks bad even for a PS2 game!

Not quite.
I have a 09 Mazda Mazdaspeed 3, and the only car in game that's even close is the 03 Axela (Mazda 3 Hatchback in USA).
So, I turbocharged it, painted it like mine, tuned the gear ratios to match my car, same horsepower, lowered about 10mm as per mazda spec and I'm getting very similar results around tracks like Laguna Seca and others as in real life.

This is how she sits now, I got in an accident(front end damage) and through insurance I got a whole new body kit!! I need to re-do my headlight housings black again, and wheels are sitting in my room... just waiting for tires.
GT5 doesn't have any Nismo body kits, and I just didn't buy the 350z, because I wanted to try out the 370z. So no GT5 pics, but w.e
