Thought I might try making this thread to gather all accident pictures or videos of real life cars who attempt to drift but failed. They thread would help educate real life drivers that drifting is dangerous and isn't easy.

P.S. - My friend just crashed his dad's stock S13 240 while drifting, several thousand in damage I think it may have been totalled, but he's still selling it for $3500, that's how nice it was. It was a real shame. Don't be stupid, guys. I drove for 4 years before buying a rear-wheel drive. Even now, I only drift in the rain and snow because I can't afford otherwise. Learning how to drift takes years, even decades. If you try to skip the training of your reflexes and predicting the car's movements, and go straight to drifting, you will certainly crash. It's only a matter of time.

That vid was originally posted for his sheer stupidity for drifting a FF corolla on a neighborhood. If it ain't for that curb he would have crashed into a house.

Today I saw a Celica with a Redsuns sticker. not sure what he's going to do with the car, but he was definitely trying to take fast turns on 90 degree corners, and occasionally his tires were squealing. If he doesn't even learn where exactly the car is, which in turn, is the key to maximize traction and which in turn determines how fast you can really take that turn, I don't think he can be a good driver in the future, just because his belief is to take a turn as fast as possible, without realizing that turning at 20 inches away from the curb makes a fast turn useless.

I think it's the fact that the G-force is pulling/pushing? on them and that is what they think something is fast. There was a WRX at my school and he pulled out of the parking lot going against traffic and almost ran into a Cadillac head on. I think he was trying to get his engine revving high because when he stopped in a long line waiting to cross the intersection, he kept on revving his engine, trying to sound tough and aggressive

That picture os that S15 upsets me. I haven't seen one, hope I never do, it'll just discourage me from drifting.

I think that S15 actually crashed into a poll because the driver was avoiding a biker. I heard a story about someone in an S15 smackin a poll trying not to kill a guy on a bike adn that might be the one.

however to some ppl drifting comes naturally.......make sure you do it in a safe place and practise well and get to know ur car......drifting isnt as hard as its cracked up to be........but on the other hand lots of people would argue strongly that its one of those things u just gotta have in you.....

ultimatley, i think, you gotta have it in you........its not something you can just learn......

yes you will, i agree, but how bad? that you cannot tell..
ive crashed many a time, yet my crashes consist of smacking curbs and running into bushes, cuz i do it in a fairly safe area...and im pretty confident in my drifting now....i know exactly how to put my car where i want it to be, i can drift consistently around light poles with my nose coming controllably within 2 feet of the pole itself
u gotta have it in you, ive seen others try my pole drift and lets say they got a huge dent.....in there pockets

i dont know about that.. i think drifting is a sport, and like any sport with practice anyone can be good at it.. personally i love drifting.. i do i as much as i can driving, but i dont think a novice should attempt a drift on a narrow road or touge.. i think drifting is for everyone. just learn on the skid pad first..

You don't have to have anything in you, anyone can learn to drift. However, what you DO have to have in you, is care. Careless people wreck cars, I've seen it over and over. Zamataki sounds like a careful driver, much like myself, because even when he does crash, he doesn't total his car. I've crashed 3 times since I got my 86, only one of those times was while drifting, and so far the only repairs that have been done are my zip-tie/bondo jobs to hold things in place. The suspension is still true, and frame is still straight. So the moral is, if you're careful, you can see it coming and will be able to keep control and minimize the damage done. If you're flying down the street not paying attention and something unexpected happens.. you're screwed. The worst crashes I've seen are where people WERE paying attention, but assumed they were some sort of super-driver and thought they could handle any situation. Then when the real situation came, they are so surprised that they lose their focus. That's when things can get REAL nasty. I've found that if you lose control and are heading for disaster, the best thing to do is not think about anything, just feel the car and react to it like you normally do. Don't think about this thread, or any thread, or what your driving instructor told you, or all the things you wanted to do in life. Just clear your head and focus on the situation at hand.

yeah what he said^^^ but the thingi seei s ppl drifting in the rain its dangerous cause your more likely to lose controll but on dry roads if you mess up in a drift you can return grip to the tire easier or not go sliding if you put the brakes on bad thing is you have to go fast on dry roads....

drifting in the rain is the best IMO because while it is slightly more dangerous because of hydroplaning.. you wear out your suspension and tires a lot less.. In one day of dry road drifting i killed my cars struts and had to replace them.. the thing was wobbling all over the place at the end of the day

I only drift in rain at the moment, in fact snow is even better. It rains a LOT in Olympia though so it kinda makes the nonstop rain less despressing. In fact, today it rained and I immediately went for a drive. Did a sweet 2nd-gear hairpin with a huge drawn-out uphill exit, I love that corner. Anyway, aside from the financial benefits of it being so much easier on the suspension, the less traction you have to start with the slower you are going when you drift. I was having a ball in the snow storm a month ago! I was a drift god in the snow! I wonder if anyone saw me... It's much easier. I even drifted on the unsalted freeway, stock suspension and $50 tires, and it was perfectly controllable. That's the nice thing about drifting is that snow and rain are cake, whereas grip drivers and everyday drivers have trouble in the snow and rain because it's so hard to grip in those conditions. As soon as they slide, they freak out. I think ideally a drifter should master the snow, then the rain, then dry road. Then if they manage to master dry road, they need to get their arse on the tarmac and win some trophies. Of course, not everyone has snow, or even much rain, so adjust accordingly.

Yeah that's hilarious, I cracked up the whole way home, because it was literally me and my students that were the only ones DRIVING home. LMAO

And as for the Honda. That was one of my old Corporals, we constantly warned him about A$$ dragging his car around, stating the fact that he has very little control while he's locked up.
He claimed that he's done it before and that I shouldn't worry so I say "Aight" and let him be (Hell he out ranks me)

Any hoo, we all drift. Then it's his turn, and it's not his 10th slide, or his 7th, or his 5th or even his 3rd slide that he gummed up on, it was his 1st FIRST FIRST FIRST slide that he went out on that he slid out of control and into a freakin g-rail. Ouchkabibbles is pretty much what everyone said.

There was no moment more frightening then when we saw the Grey Skyline slide into it's several objective points. Oh man, you have never seen so many Marines run to the rescue as you did that night. OH MAN! That was truely frightening. I was scared out of my mind that he had been killed, because if you look at it, all of the damage was done on the drivers side. Man we sped over there (on foot) and yanked him out of his car. Once we found out he was completely alright (dispite his pride) we laughed right in his face. Because he swears up and down that he's a good driver.

Oh yeah and just a side note, he's got another skyline, a white one, maybe I should take pics of it now so that when we see it again and it's a cube we can compare and contrast and maybe piece together the accident CSI style

I haven't drifted in real life but one day I will be able to do it, and I prefer shorten the driftable area for safety, rather than having the posibility of crashing. If you love your car and want to love it in the future, keep a rasonable (spelling?) safety distance between you and any dangerous zones you could see.

Everyone will crash. I know of Two occasions that Keiichi Tsuchiya, a great drifter that been practicing for years and years still get into crashes. No matter how good you are, these things will happen.

I stick to snow drifting (im only 17) an have never even come close to crashing, the key is to never drive out of your limits, but you never know what might happen.........

anyone got pics of illegal street racing crashes? I had a good one with a yellow CRX that hit a pole in a street race. driver got smashed by his woofers in the trunk i mean damn it was a bigass box with two bigasswoofers and it was where the driver would be sitting.
