They said only on some cars, and only limited parts too, not like Auto Modellista. Also, very nice pictures.

Not my style, but it's ok...
Also, note the dirty Xanavi Skyline!

man i have never really liked celicas.. though i almost bought a really nice 80s celica it was the boxy look.. very cool looked something like this one.. just a very gloss black.. it had a very cool 2003 corvette Z06 mags(split 5 spoke), and i loved playin with the sun roof.. wish i would have gotten it! though i am a really big gm fan it would have been fun to boot around in.

Thoes JGTC car pics look extremely impressive, the Celica is an aftermarket tuned one I think, theres a red one tuned by a company called TRIAL, I'm not sure if thats the one but they look similar.

Any links to thoes pics, I've looked in IGN and I can't find them in the GT4 pictures.

OMFG Holy ****ing **** dude! This has GOT to be the REALEST looking GT4 pic out there!

That is photo fixed, it's a photo of the canyon, mapped onto the background and had it's the colours altered so it looks like it's rendered and doesn't stand out.

Still its a bleedin gorgeous sight to behold for a PS2 Game....

 :trouble:

Doubt that, in a car mag, forgot the name of it but they said PD upped their hadrware to render those back grounds and they have a new rendering engine, I seroius doubt they got a whole new and pwerful rendering engine just for some photo matching.

What do you smoke? It must be some seriousley good stuff, do you always go against what others say, is it some kind of power trip thing. They ARE photofixed, PD confirmed that along time ago, the rendering engine allows better quiality renders, a graphics engine still has to render a photofixed background. Every texture you see, no matter if it a photo or created by the track artist is rendered, it makes sense to use photos anyway, it takes less time but provides better results.

There have also been articles about them Taking thousands of photos. they may have computers powerfull enough to render that image but The PS2 simplys is not capable of rendering that background.
They do however employ a whole new graphics engine which is leaps ahead of GT3 and allows them to overlay much higher detailed texture maps, which are of touched up and linked photographic images which have been re rendered to blend into the look of the game and still maintain real life quality, all this done with the new rendereing process engine you mention.

That statement is still very confusing, but essentailly it means that real life photos have been re-manipualted into high quality background textures(live4speed), then dispalyed through the new graphics engine (Cobragt) which allows much higher detail levels than for Gt3.
Result The high quality backgrounds you see here.

P.S Cobragt I have now seen the Crowd scene video, And the crowd are no where near as detailed as the shots you showed with the focus (surely you must agree on that), and that leads even more weight to the theory that they are part of a rendered video which is highlighting new features of the game, along with the part wireframed characters from the pit crew, of course we can expect to see these features in the game though the detail level will be significantly below the images you posted.

The crowd scene was very impressive and more highly populated than i though would be the case, but obviouslly this is in the rally mode where one/two cars are the max so the game engine has more available power for these extra nuances.

lol. It needs to get a little less heated up eh.

According to technicians from the PD production team, the game renders the scenery for every inch you move, so that's one helluvalot times a lap, eh? ;)

But we all know how PD works... they can use every bit of power in the PS2, and if that's not enough, they figure out a new way to use the power more efficiently, without sacrificing quality.

Bring us GT4 Prologue... soon! :D

That'll be all,

Although Pd have obviously have improved the abiity of the game graphics engine this time round, and it is significantly more capable than Gt3s, have you noticed the very clever trickery being employed by PD, they are actually rendering much less scenery, only the very near trackside stuff, the advance in the ability to use better high definition textures, and the new mid and far distance scenery engine, means more processing power is available for other things this time round.

It Is very clever technique involving a lot of angles and objects to restrirct the depth of field that needs rendering, then the rest is filled with the new high detailed background maps, which now incorporates the new 4 sided mapping technique they have been talking about (a clear example of that is seen in the Grand canyon downward shot) which helps blend the view almost perfectly, it is very well done but the effect can be seen in numerous videos if you look very closely.

clearly demonstrated here.

Wahey, a man who knows his stuff. I presume your a man anyway.

so can you buy parts for cars like add body parts, or does anyone know?!? and also how many car is going to be in GT4 i know they have confirm 500 cars... but there is more than 500... i have heard rumors of 1000 and 2000 cars... seem unrealeastic but anyways... i want as much car as possible, will be so cool if you can add or change body kits or body work.. painting it or anything...

I don't think they will make bodykits for every car, maybe not even one... But I'm pretty sure there'll be enough tuners available (Mugen, Spoon, AMG, Nismo, Mazdaspeed,...)
