Whats an Xbox??
Im looking toward for this update and see whos the best street car in the 1/4 mile and top speed. Tunning will be essencial. Now i can use the tunning sheet 2 and 3 :lol:.

Thanks to Route X i got my Speed 12 quicker by 8 tenths! you read right 8 tenths 9.444 was its best 1/4 miles so far.

Then again, it's a Speed 12 so it's not shocking, but I've got a 1565kg Aventador that does high 9s with only 805hp or so.
 
testing stuff on route x and I have found that downforce improves my 1/4 mile. Anyone else notice this?

Other observations:

my 0-60 and 1/4 et vary wildly from test to test even with same setup and using an automatic transmission. Like 0-60 5 seconds or 0-60 2.5 seconds in two different runs with my ACR.

Maybe or Route X is just really inconsistent, see my edit :).

I am also getting really good times with full ballast at the rear.

I am doing 9.471 with my ACR with automatic transmission. This is really strange. Maybe the rpm at launch varys widely as it bounces off the rev limiter.

that is a real life thing, believe it or not automatic is very very inconsistent. its because of the pressure in the torque converter, nothing you can do

I'm calling bull on that big time, mainly because I've seen ZERO variance run-to-run with anything I've tested.

Edit: Unless of course your car is so close to the edge of bogging that a small difference in the exact RPM the car is at when the game lets it go is the difference between bogging or slight spin... In which case you should shorten 1st just slightly, or hold the throttle down from the instant you press start acceleration tests.

As for autos being inconsistent in real life... Hah. Not really, no. Not one that's built correctly. And GT5 isn't trying to simulate an actual automatic... It shifts at the EXACT same point EVERY run.

Yes you are right I think. The ACR is really inconsistent maybe. As for the torque converter comment, the whole point of using an automatic in real drag racing is for the consistency of the launch. With a high stall you can get precise launch rpms each time that you can't get with a manual transmission.

Another comment, I think the max g-force is one of the more useful ways to test suspension setups since they don't give us a 60 ft metric.

edit: made the gears wider and I am holding the accelerator during the 3 2 1 countdown and its now running consistent with the automatic.

Okay some more findings (helpful to have a laptop right now), pertaining to the ACR. These are the optimum settings.

Full ballast +200 at +50 (EDIT: Only for 0-60.., 0 for 1/4!)
Full downforce on rear spoiler (EDIT: Only for 0-60.., 0 for 1/4!)
Ride height lowest in front and highest in rear
Front alignment: doesn't matter camber or toe.
Rear alignment: +1.00 on rear toe. some camber on rear.
Springs: High rate in front medium rate in rear.
Shocks: less important than I thought. Really doesn't make a huge difference on this car. Only noticed when all were set to 1/1 front and rear it finally made a difference (slower e.t.) Otherwise nothing.
Swaybars: no difference at all.
Limited Slip: no difference at all.
Brakes: no difference at all.

Noticed that with my truck at a local drag strip. A C6 s a good tranny no doubt, but automatic.

Not really no.

Different automatics from different manufacturers work differently... And it has absolutely nothing to do with pressure in the torque converter.

Edit: @Slashfan: Nothing with any less than 800hp needs a C6 or E4OD/4R100. Nothing. :lol: Anything less than that and you're better off with a built C4 or AOD/4R70 considering the weight gain and power loss the C6 causes. Indestructible trans, sure. Good? Depends on your definition.

My gtr is very close to bogging and I experience small differences from run to run. On the other hand, being that I launch the ACR in 2nd it is more inconsistent being that it spins the whole way through the gear.

I'm noticing inconsistencies testing for 1/4 also. But I dont use auto. Maybe I should try.

Edit: Maybe I shouldn't launch in 3rd?

edit; found out what was going on. If you are holding accelerator at the countdown it always launches at same point. its not like a real dragstrip in that it only measures based on time at the end of the countdown, not when you go past the yellow start line. Therefore launching in manual in any gear but 1st will be inconsistent ... UNLESS you select the gear before the countdown is completed.

Sounds about right. Ride height is god as far as launch goes, all else follows.

The 200kg of ballast won't work past the 1/4, nor will the downforce.

Can you try testing ballast and downforce to confirm or deny my findings?

Sadly, I currently don't have an ACR to test. In fact, my only broken-in drag car is a 2012 GT-R that's full of fail and too damn easy to tune. Lost my save which had 2 broken in ACRs, 2 low-mileage No-Stripes, a low mileage SL600, a broken-in but winged Enzo... Yeah lost a lot of drag stuff, not to mention all my circuit cars.

Timer starts at end of countdown, I can understand not realizing it on your first go but after that? C'mon bud.

Okay now testing some stuff with my AWD car, the Le Mans Quattro @ 910hp.

Ballast: none
LSD: doesn't matter.
F/R TQ Differential: you want 40/60.
Alignment: all zero.
Ride Height:min front and halfway rear
springs: front stock (halfway) rear a bit more spring rate than the front

Well my GTR runs 9.077 on the 1/4 mile. My Lemans Quattro runs 9.073.

Well just got a 9.334 in my lambo aventador. Seems pretty quick to me since it's setup for racing and not drag lol
