This, shockingly enough, is NOT rice!. What you see here is a bona fide, fully functional, jet turbine (IIRC) powered car. Every lever and switch is actually there for a reason. The car actually takes relatively long to accellerate to 50MPH, but that's due to the nature of Jet engines. While a piston engine loses power as RPM increases, a jet's power continues to increase as RPM increases. The owner has only had it up to 85, due to the car's retention of the stock tires. The car with the new engine weighs about 150 lb less than a stock MR2. The three jet turbines run on Jet-A, the standard fuel of jet aircraft, and can also be run on deisel if needs be.

Our art teacher in elementary school had some big old vehicle that looked like that. It was an old cadillac so it was like 30+ feet in length and every year the sixth grade class would go out and repaint her car. They could paint anything they wanted as long as it wasn't profane language or dirty pictures.
