My setup is based off of an old Cruis'n USA arcade machine. I gutted the machine, and built a new shelf for the PS3. The steering wheel was removed and the hole cut out to make room for a G27 wheel. Two different approaches were tried with the shifter, but I finally decided on cutting the 'button board' part off and attaching the shifter in the original Cruis'n shifter location. The button board was rewired and relocated to the other buttons on the machine. A broken Ps3 controller was used for powering up the PS3, having the home button wired to the coin ejector button. A Buttkicker Simulation is installed in the base of the seat, and I also have a new seat picked out (not yet ordered). The pedals were mounted to a board and inverted. Fiberglass work around the new tv monitor and pedals is still being completed. Not shown is the new marquee made for the machine that is installed and says GT5 on it, as well as a hand brake that was installed. I love this rig for all of my racing games! :)

New setup, pretty budget and basic. Sim Seats SR-2 frame, Speedway Motors universal seat sliders, NRG FRP seat. Yay-Dee-Em sticker & badge action...

wow. lostboyzNZ, great work. real arcade convertors, amazing. collapsible table/bench cockpits, bravo. i can only dream. i made one from wood for my g27 with a projector setup. i can attest that 15ft usb male/female plugs work just fine for my ps2 and for pc. keep them coming boys!

Oh man. If I had to guess 50-100 pounds. I can slide it fairly easy. I did use thinnest metal I could on the structure. As well sheet metal is light. The pedals, wheel, and seat prob equal the framing in weight. If not exceed.

I'm on carpet with those plastic sliding discs on the bottom. Think there are 8 of them so it slides nicely on the carpet.



Rotella T was GM's answer for chattering litters on my previous 2000 Jimmy. ( hated that thing) problem after problem.
 
Here's my setup, dual purpose, RockBand and Driving.

47" Samsung and a Yamaha RX-V1065 with 5 Paradigm speakers and 1 Velodyne 12" Sub. Goes to 11!
4 Buttkicker 300 W amps, one each for the driving seats and one each for the recliners.

1 PC Intel i7 Quad Core, 8 GB Ram, GeForce GTX 580, 240 GB SSD, 1 TB HD.
1 Haupagge DVR

hey guys still messing with my new obutto frame from upgrading from my homemade wooden one. Anyone got tips on cable management cos with a g27+tv+5.1 speakers+pc cords makes it look very messy ... p.s anyone looking for a cheap wooden frame with seat for your wheel/pedals and you in the south island of New zealand hit me up :)

yep, it's in the basement. I have a light/effect setup for rockband, so I draped the walls with black cloth so the lights 'pop'. works nicely for driving too, sans lights of course 👍

You can use the plastic wire loom at auto parts stores, that is what I used for mine. It cleans it up nicely.

Moved house a month or two back so I made a few minor alterations to the rig. Nothing major just a few tweaks for comfort as well as a nice rug specifically for the rig. Next project will be to build a new sturdier frame.

Mine looks rather silly after a lot of those above but as we all know, it's not what you have but how you use it that really counts ;)

Deliberately have the rig a distance from my TV as my eyesight doesn't need to get any more screwed up. It's comfier than it looks and nothing slides about unless I'm trying to mad tyte drift, yo. The table cost a tenner from IKEA so can't complain about the price...

Greetings All! I am fairly new to the forum


Here is my compact, lightweight, sliding, affordable rig:

1) Simseat Sr1 with reverse mount attachment ( approx $270 with shipping)

2) Modded brake pedal for progressive(custom)

3) Handbrake system(custom)

4) Cheap 320mm wheel using Chilicoke adapter for G27. Attached the buttons to the paddles to keep functionality.

5) Modded shifter for resistance with real shift nob

6) Padded Seat cover for gokart seat with adjustable lumbar support ( really comfortable)

7) Buttkicker braced to directly vibrate seat and also the wheel,brakes,shifter ( this makes a big difference)

8) 3d tv with 5.1 surround sound


Overall, for the price, I am very happy with this set up. However,
hopefully one day, I can afford a motion sim rig. :)

a modified GTSims (RotaryGods old fabricated frames he was selling back in 2005), up on 7" of plywood. It does the job :)

edit: oh and casters on the back, so I can not embarrass myself when company visits :P

Nice rig. i like how you photoshopped the background to give your pic that clean look. Btw, I have what looks like the same seat with seat cover. I am not sure if yours is comfortable for you already, but I have a suggestion. I bought a cheap mesh lumbar support

It fits really nice underneath the cover and you can use the opening on each side of the seat to move it up or down for best support.. It has made a huge improvement for my back. Cheers!
 
Absolutely in awe of some of these set ups...especially the custom built cockpits...awesome.

For me DFGT and WheelstandPro...works really well...fold and stick behind the sofa after playtime...

Yup, its an African Grey. Nice bird, I have one of those too and they are very smart with the capability of developing a large vocabulary.
