Don't let off the gas while you shift and don't press the imaginary clutch. Duh?

I love people like this. If you're asking the question, you can't possibly know what powershifting is.

To answer the question, every manual transmission upshift you make is a powershift in GT3. Unless you actually lift throttle when you press the upshift button? Why on earth would you do that?

sn00p, it makes the stupid blowoff valve snort every time you shift even if you don't lift so your g/f will be impressed anyway by what a playa you are. Now all we need for GT4 is a turbo timer so you can makes sure the car idles for 2 minutes to cool the turbo, even though you just putted down to the 7-11 for a pack of cigarettes.

i know how to Power Shift, when your RPM goes Redline on your Skyline, press the Revers Button very fast, if you did on the right time, your car hopes and try to look at your Trubo Gauges, its not going to move at all like normal shifting, so is that clear, the power shifting was said in a long time ago but its all good, see if u guys can do it ok!!!!!!!!!

I gotta try this out

Why?

Your "Trubo" gauge may not move at all, but what happens to your speed when the car "hopes"? If you lose speed you've defeated the purpose of trying to powershift.

I gotta try this out. Any improvment seen on the 400m or 1000m?

neon..actually.. if it was done right.. the car will continue to accelerate.. :odd: i have no idea why though...
I'll have to take your word for it, but I don't believe it, and here's why:
  • You have to take your thumb off the throttle to sneak in this "powershift" thing, instead of just staying wide open the whole time.
  • When I hit Reverse in the game, and then revert to forward, the transmission automatically changes down to 1st gear, even though I always drive manual. I don't see how you can keep moving forward without slowing down.
Are you guys driving automatic trans? In that case, possibly it drops to first and immediately runs up through the gears. Forward momentum would overrev the engine and probably drive the boost pressure through the roof. But I can't imagine this can possibly be faster than just holding your foot to the floor and shifting up.

Maybe I'm just not that observant, but my boost gauge never seems to drop for more than a fraction of a second when I shift anyway, and as soon as there's a load back on the engine, it comes right up. Some cars bleed boost at sustained high RPM, but I've never seen one that didn't peg the needle almost all the time before redline.

Nope... Neon I'm using manual. And... Just for fun.. I never took my thumb off "X"
Since my index finger always rests on the R1 button, and I only use it when i start the race, I can tap the Triangle without lifting my thumb.

And....
"When I hit Reverse in the game, and then revert to forward, the transmission automatically changes down to 1st gear, even though I always drive manual. I don't see how you can keep moving forward without slowing down. "
start powershifting in higher gears.. its either that.. or you're holding the Triangle button too long...

actually he wasnt bull****ting, if u press triangle ur boost gauge will always stay at max. but it takes some time to get used to. sometimes itll stay in the same gear or skip the next gear and go to the one after the one it skipped. for example from 2nd itll go to 4th. im gonna keep tryin to see if i can better my 9.153 with power shifting
