I want to setup a PP race. My worry is you won't get a equal race. Or if cars have around the same PP will it be a fair race.

So say around 410PP is my target. If people turn up with there cars around that PP will it be even

PP is the best quick method for setting up a fair race. In general, setting the PP and making sure that allowed cars are of the same type (road car, GT1 car, LMP car, etc) is enough to make a fair race.

So I say road cars.
Of 410 PP some one turns up with say a Subaru and a S2000 this would be fair.

Yes, for the most part. Just note that for whatever reason PD did not give certain tuning parts PP values, mostly suspension and drivetrain parts. In general, you should always use race suspension and the best transmission/flywheel/clutch/etc online unless you're racing in a tightly controlled race like the ones in the online race section on GTP.

You can race without those parts and still win, but you'll be at a slight to moderate disadvantage.

You'll want to to find cars that are a similar pp in their stock forms. There are certainly exceptions, but this is ussualy the best way to get a good matchup. A powerful car detuned to meet 410pp probably wont be even with a car that is 410pp stock.

I get you mate. I will look into. Maybe post a few ideas here, just to get your thoughts.

Not all PPs are equal. There are certain cars out there that bust the PP system. You should be reasonably ok around the 410PP, just try to make sure that people are using similar cars. By that, I mean don't have people turning up in race cars if you're running street cars. RM and other types of race car tend to have (adjustable) front downforce, which will usually mean they eat cars that don't.

In the early days, a few mates and I used to set our restrictions via weight, power and drivetrain, but this is a little complicated to manage. PP is pretty cut and dry in terms of restricting cars, but as per, you will find some cars that will tank everything else at an equivalent PP. Cars such as the Suzuki GSX and the Chaparral 2J.

Good luck, hope you enjoy your racing...

I race in a lot of low pp rooms with sports softs, the one thing that stands out for me is the removal of MR from the category.

Weather it's because they dont like the MR's in their rooms, or because the MR's have an advantage i dont know, but i would thought an Elise would beat say a Focus or an S2000 at that pp

When i race in the low pp rooms, the competition is quite fierce, and there isn't a stand out winner throughout the session, and so long the racers are good and clean, you should find that whatever car your in, should be adequate to take the win.

It's more about the skill of the racer and how you race

Sorry, but no, it's all about the skill of the race organisor and their ability to create a set of rules / handicaps that evens out he performance of cars allowed to be used.

We race 400pp sports tyres, BUT, the "cheat cars" go on sports HARD and everything else goes on sports MEDIUM.

So cars like Integra's, Elise's, MX5s etc etc all go on hards, whereas cars like Lexus IS200, Golf R32 etc etc go on Mediums.

This means cars that normally wouldn't stand a chance (Renault Aventime), can give most ther cars a run for it's money instead of going backwards.

All those who are going to say tyre handicap are stupid, don't work blah blah blah..

Watch this, our 400pp historics with hard, mediums and soft tyres being used - bet you can't correctly guess what tyres are on what car:

Tyre handicaps are quick and easy way of equalsing performance and the best bit about them - everyone in lobby can see what tyres everyone else is on - so there's no way anyone can cheat.

So would you say setting up races is easier by doing PP. Or is it easier with a.BHP and WEIGHT limit. I'm trying to get new ideas for my league. I don't want the league to be come stale.

Use PP. HP/weight is terribly easy to abuse.

If this is for an organized league though, don't be afraid to use rules outside of the game. Using PP and hp/weight at the same time would be ideal, but for whatever reason PD did not allow this. You can sort of use both by making sure that cars meet one (PP) and then switching to the other (hp/weight) and making sure that they pass again. Just be sure that no one goes into their set ups in between regulations, or they might cheat.

I took part in a pp limited series a while ago now using hatch backs. There was a variety of cars, about 10 different vehicles all tuned to 430pp. It was really tight racing, so tight that if you made one mistake you'd lose the race.

Easy - test the cars first, different people on different tracks, try to get them generally as equal as possible. Try both PP and power/weight - see which ones work the best for your series.

Biggest mistake organisors can make is o not test thoroughly and prepare the regulations. The more you test and research, the bettrer your series will be.

We race both power / weight and PP - it depends on the car(s) being used...

Speak to the "regulars" of the series / event - ask them what they want then try and fit this into your idea. Always balance democracy and dictatorship.

Hold some cars back, then introduce them later on to "freshen up" the series - keep this a surprise.

Use things like reverse grid and or driver handicaps so the "wins" are spread around a little. Same person / car winnin all the time will be a real turn off.

Try to start wth a vaiety of cars that cover as many types / makes a possible. Some people might want 4wd, others rwd, some mr - some guys always / only race premium cars, others don't mind.

But also easy to police aswell.. this means "cheats" are easily weeded out.

Engine n/a tuning and turbo kits can be "spotted" in replays and before each race, do a regulation check of each person/car one by one, then a PP check.

Then chuck in a few requests to "borrow" people's cars (to ensure all is legit) and then the regulars know there's no way of cheating and will all fall in line and follow the regs, almost without needing to check them..
