My mom doesn't think that he'll last much longer than Friday though...She believe's that so strongly that she took me shopping for a dress to wear to his funeral...

don't let the grown-ups get you down, keep on praying for your granpa... try to get to visit him yourself, you seem like a genuinely sweet person, i bet you can make him happy (or at least closer to being happy) just by your presence...my grandfather died after a long illness while i was out at sea in the navy, nobody even told me about it until after the funeral, because they, well, i don't know why...the red cross would have flown me out there to be with him in his last days, it really hurt me, still does...

Wow you have it worse than I do...I do want to go and see Grandpa before he goes...but I live in Ohio and they are in Illinois. In other words, I don't go unless my parents drive me there. You know, I once just sat down and listened to him for like an hour and a half. Ever since he started getting sick, people have stopped listening to him. I think he's lonely. Unfortunatly, I'm a military brat and really can't remember him as a healthy person. I've see pictures, but I can't remember. I wish I could though...

tarnished angel, my grandpa died in '82, i was born in '59, and he wasn't ever really healthy the whole time i knew him, but he was always funny...but my grandma is still going (90+ and still smart!), and she can tell all the storys...anyway, plead your case with your parents, somehow you should be able to get through to them that this is really important to you (i mean really important, on a "you won't forget this the rest of your life" level of importance)...

My prayers go out to your grandpa and to your entire family. May God bless him and comfort your family during these painfull times.

Each man's life is but a breath.
-Psalms 39

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

-Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

If man were immortal he could be perfectly sure of seeing the day when everything in which he had trusted should betray his trust, and, in short, of coming eventually to hopeless misery. He would break down, at last, as every good fortune, as every dynasty, as every civilization does. In place of this we have death.

-Charles Sanders Peirce

New (good) news:

My grandpa has been sent home with an ok, for now. The burn on his foot is not infected, so they don't have to amputate his leg!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy! But as far as I know, he's still not eating.:(

I don't think he can tolerate morphine...he's that weak. Nothing over normal over-the-counter pain killers. His heart is giving him problems......since he had diabetes and all...

hmmm....I work in a pharmacy so I'll try to find out if there is anything that can help.......is diabetes the only medical condition he has or are the others? this is important because some drugs will interact with certain medical conditions.....since I am not a doctor I cant prescribe anything but I could give you an Idea of what is available that might help him, then you could ask his doctor if It would work for him and have him write a perscription.

Diabetes, Congestive Heart Failure, he has had may viens taken out of his legs to put in his heart, umm...He was very obese at one point. That's all I know of.

alright I'll see what I can come up with...

Hydrocodone also known as vicodin might help....it slows down the nervous system and dulls up to moderately severe pain.....it is a C3 narcotic meaning that it can become addictive if you don't follow the directions......ask him or his doctor if vicodin would be right for him as it is generally th emost prescribed pain medication.....if that does not work well enough you might have to upgrade to a C2 drug which is the highest form of narcotic found in a pharmacy....C1's have no valid uses because they are things like cocaine...as I said find out about vicodin....get a generic since they are cheaper and by law must contain the same amount of active ingredients as the brand name so it will work the same....
