Real close racing and some decent overtaking, Button pretty much owned JPM . Great drives by the point's scorers, fully deserved. Massa screwed up a little bit.

 At Super Aguri not filling up their cars at the pit stop, atleast Sato finished though. 👍

And Rosberg... Damn he's fast! Can't wait for Malaysia were reliability will come into play and hopefully honda can capitilise.. Button just needs to work on his starts because his one in this race was mediocre at best.

Whens the next GP?? I cant wait. Carl I'll have to disagree with villeneuve I think hes lost it and is below par.
Next weekend..

AWESOME race and Rosberg is clearly a force to be reckoned with !... Some very good driving from the young lad !..

Go Schumi - Get the Reds back on top 👍

Excellent race, Rosberg was fantastic, i was talking to several people last night about how i would like williams to do well:D. Unlucky for Button, just missing out on the podium but like they say hopefully he can capatilise on reliability next round.

I forgot about JV's engine failure. I was looking forward to the Williams vs BMW battle this season. I know it's only the BMW team's first race, but I must confess to feeling a bit smug when Villeneuve's BMW engine expired whilst Williams romped away to points.

 at Fisi's engine description. I didn't make it out when he first said it.

A good race. Fair play to Alonso for his shorter stop letting him jump Schumacher. Good to see one of the Ferraris had good race pace, Massa didn't make a good impression with his spin under brakes.

Did anyone else notice that Schumacher was manually blipping the throttle on downchanges when we saw the driver's footwork whereas Alonso wasn't?

We're in for an awesome season. Four teams look capable of winning. Great result for Alonso, Shum is back and an impressive drive from Kimi trough the field but he's clearly getting used to it. Can't wait for next week:tup:

Yes! forgot to mention it, made me think of LFS settings. There has to be some sort of software doing the job on the Renault, Alonso was pulling away from MS most of the time when they showed both throttle / brake inputs. A bit of an advantage if it is the case.

Yep, it's called skill and experience. Alonso grew up with not having any blipping to do, whereas Schumacher didn't. :D

Traction control was forbidden in F3000, so I think he had to do it manually then...

Then again, Alonso drove a car with a clutch for the first time in 1999 :p

Well done to Schumacher!! great to see him back

Alonso won, though i would have rather schumacher too.

Cant race for race 2.

I haven't bothered to watch an F1 race in a long time, but with the new rules I thought I'd go out of my way for this one. WOW... I love the new qualifying rules and the racing was spectacular. I only hope this sort of thing continues all year.

Well then. Quite an exciting race. Congrats to Mr. Alonso.
I think Rosberg is deffinatly somebody to keep watching, I can see him being a champion.
I can't wait for the rest of the season. The battle between Schumacher, Alonso and Raikkonen will be brilliant!

And here's a big i told you so to those who doubted McLaren. Kimi is obviously the best driver in there, and he's got what it takes to win the championship. Unlike Button who for the life of him couldn't salvage 3rd place from a 3rd place start. I lost confidence in Button a long time ago, and this has just furthered it more.

Both McMercs won't finish the race, sadly. Let's hope Kimi gets a REAL car in '07...idealy the itialian one that is red.
One of the mcMerc's will blow. They just lurv that hot bahrain sun. "Grenate!"
McMerc is SOOOOOOOOOO screwed this season, especially since they no longer have the 3rd car on Fridays.

Anyway, as for those predicting that McMerc will blow up bla bla, what you say now naysayers?

Renault 10pts
McLaren 10pts
Ferrari 8pts

You can watch out for Kimi winning the next race. The car won't fail him during qualifying again.

Also, Toyota has their work cut out for them. They're not gonna hang out the big boys pack any time soon.

And here's another overrated nod to Jenson Button again even though I already did one at the top of my post.

I think this year is gonna be Alonso vs Kimi again with Schumacher vs Montoya vs .. Rosberg? on the side for 3rd/4th. Schumacher doesn't have it in him to be a champion again. He's just an old fox. Alonso has what it takes, and so does Kimi.

Button is not that overrated, he did put on some nice clean moves on Montoya who happens to be in a McLaren? Don't count him out quite yet.

That's because Montoya was on more fuel everytime Button was doing a move on him. Still I retain my position that he's not gonna be a force to reckon with this year. The forces to reckon with are Alonso, Raikkonen, Montoya, Schumacher and in the top 8, Nico Rosberg. I'm more impressed with Rosberg than with Button.

I find your comments a tad too radical Mustang.

Kimi is a great driver I agree, but saying Michael is no more in the race for the championship is being naive.

I'll be watching the highlights tonight on UK tv as i work on weekends, but from the sports reports I'm reading it seems Williams and Cosworth is working well and what about Nico Rosberg...... holy cow!

Most wrongestest quote this year on GTP so far..

I doubt NOONE has it more than Schumi does - he is not the guy to end his career in second place..

He is, if Alonso and Kimi have anything to say about it, which judging by the start of the season, they aren't gonna let him walk away with another championship as easy as previous years.

Schumi has some of the toughest competition in F1 to go against, before he can reclaim the number 1 spot.

The race was great stuff! I think Nico Rosberg may be one of the guys I am going to watch from now on. Kimi put a great drive in to come from 22nd on the grid to finishing third. Good drive by Alonso, though I found myself rooting for Schumacher and I don't know why.

The Williams-Cosworth package looks to be a good one as of right now. I was all but certain Cosworth would put together a very good V8, but I didn't know if Williams would pick up their game and put the rest of the car together. It appears both Williams have done a pretty good job with the car. Hopefully both drivers can show us its potential.

The Ferrari looks like it will be good this year. Renault still looks like they did at the end of last year. The McLaren looks to be an extremely fast car in the hands of Kimi. Somewhat disappointing drive by JPM, especially compared to what Kimi did in the McLaren.

Overall, it looks to be an exciting year. It appears that 4-5 teams could be consistently competing. Great stuff! Bring on Malaysia.

He is a bit older but experience can make up for his age easily.

Here we go again...

Annnnnyway, it looks like we've got some competition heating up this season. My favorite won today of course, but it's not going to be easy for anyone to just pull away and coast to victory. It also looks like there is more competition between the mid-pack teams as well, so there should be some good battles for that final point :). Now watch as one team pulls away from the pack and leaves us crying at the end of the season again :sly:

What I meant was "Willingly" stop in second place of course. I have no doubt that Schumi is man enough to accept a second place on equal terms, but not like the one last year.. But I think, between him and Ferrari, they have to gutfeel to pull it off... /* Fingers Crossed ! */

That was a good race.
Alonso looks to be the one to beat.
Schuey and Ferrari are back in business.
Raikkonen will give a very serious title challenge, as long as he could get some luck on his side. (22nd to 3rd? Not bad at all.)
Button's also looking good, but I'm not sure he could win a race this season.
Williams has one of the best looking and best sounding cars on the grid (That V8 almost sounds like a V10!), and Nico Rosberg will definitely be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

Hopefully not. By race 2 or 3, we know if it's to be.

Ferrari looks to have stepped up their game; I figured they always seem to tank their development on the old car whenever a new formula comes about. Schuey had it made, but Renault made the faster pit stops. Otherwise, they are evenly matched: Ferrari seemed a little quicker at the end of the straight, but the Renault looked visibly quicker and unshaken in the turns (just like last year). Perhaps Alonso had a little more confidence; last year, he won Bahrain in a walk. Schumacher had a few more eyes on him to keep up his pole pace; but it certainly looks better for the Red Team.

Damn, Nico Rosberg...what a late-race charge! He lost a lot of time with an early stop for that new nose cone, but still wound up in the points. It's as if he kept a little andrenaline for the end of therace, when things seem to "stabilize".

Was it me, or was there little coverage of Kimi charging through the field? All of a sudden, he's in the points (just as we knew he would). He's my World Champ pick this year, and he didn't disappoint with his 2-stop strategy.

Klien had a rare, fairly uneventful race. But he stayed in the top 8 all day, and so did Button, who put in a consistent performance to start off the year, after the neither-here-nor-there season of '05.

Speed finishes! WooHoo!

One of the mercedes did f' up over the weekend. I was correct.

The championship will be fought over by MS, Kimi, Alonso, and one or both of the williams boys.

Constructor's cup will be close between ferrari, mcmerc, and williams. Fisi is a little 'git-nugget.

edit: Oh, forgot to mention Yuji Ide. Cheers to running over your team-mates! GO JAPAN!

Mr. Boy
Williams has one of the best looking and best sounding cars on the grid (That V8 almost sounds like a V10!)
The engines didn't sound half bad at all. At low revs, they still make me cringe and think of ChampCar, but at 18,000+ they sound just fine, and much like last year's V10's.

And the SPEED team forgot to mention Takuma Sato altogether. I don't remember hearing his name once, and the only shot of a Super Aguri car was when Ide ran over his crew mates. Will be an awful season for them.
