Predictions for the August 2026 update (1.71)?

I would say the question is now is there anything else coming alongside the cars.

But I think the answer to that is an even firmer no than it usually is, because let's be honest - with the greatest of respect to them, the GTWS drivers aren't historically all that great at not leaking things; if they saw anything at the recording, I'd imagine we'd have heard rumblings by now.

I know few gtws drivers and they never tell me anything ;d But imo we will not get any new tracks in gt7, pd focusing on gt8

GT7 Spec II: November 2023 - 20 months
GT7 Spec III: December 2025 - 13 months
Time since Spec III: August 2026 - 8 months

And they did mention Spec IV back in the survey in April...


I mean, if you want to really read into that pattern, it suggests Spec V in December 2026, Spec VI in somewhere around the second week of February 2027, and then a day later a flurry of an infinite number of Specs.

Hi, I am trying to understand what the two Toyotas refer to.
Are they both from 96? From what I could gather on Internet, I thought that Chaser V could mean 5th generation, so the one from 92 to 96 according to wikipedia, with Mk II then referring to a facelift version of that gen? Yet, gtwiki says that the V refers to a trim, Tourer-V against another version dubbed Tourer S. Is the Mark II a returning version from GT1 and GT2? Then, the Chaser '97 would be the 6th gen? I haven't watched the video yet, does Soler explain it in detail?

2 Chasers apparently, one is a returning car with the Hyundai Ioniq 6N and the Caterham RS 500C I've heard?
MS Soler has mentioned this, and via Volt on YouTube, he's running with that information.
 
I wonder if they'll ever bring the F2007, F10, and W08 back as Generic Formula cars. On the question of a new "Spec" I can see them using the Power Pack as a sort of GT7.5 by adding features to it, Like a custom race feature.

As for updates, it seems to me they are building to make GT8 the definitive version because they are bringing back to many of the OG cars, like the Soarer (assuming). As I said earlier in this thread, I'm hoping the GTR LM makes an appearance, as do the "touring cars" from GT6.

I guess we'll see when that time comes around, but I'm going to keep my expectations for GT8 tempered. I do quite enjoy the content that they're bringing into the game. I for one never expected the Espace F1 to be brought back, nor was I expecting the hypercars from the last update ever making it into the game at this juncture, yet here we are.

But for all the cars & tracks that come into the game, one major issue that's holding back the potential of the series still remains that there's no proper career mode. Don't get me wrong, adding content (whether it'd be new or nostalgic) is good & all, but the big issue right now is while the content does interest me to a degree, its potential is hampered by the fact that there's barely anything there for me to be able to sink my teeth into.

The series sorely needs it back, and that's something I hope gets addressed for GT8. Not expecting it though, since it seems like things these days are being tailored more towards online multiplayer. That's just my gut feeling, hope it's proven wrong in due time.

Now that's some advanced universe bending if Spec VI predates Spec V by about ten months. Or a good catch for roaming info harvester bots.

About the actual update, if the Chaser is indeed coming, it'll be a great thing. It's a car I've wanted to see for 25 years as the Tom's was always a bit of a letdown, I'll much rather make my own. And it won't be a drifter.

Yeah, seems like a gentle push to get people to buy a PS5/PS5P to experience added content. It’s kind of backfired in Sport Mode where players didn’t like having split fields when they placed the Mustang American Racer ‘15(:scared:) as a choice.

I was thinking they might pull an August 2024 type of update, with the trailer for Eiger included, as a way to gather people to watch the stream on YT, however, I recalled that they announced part of Jan2025 content in the Finals of 2024, and no track was shown there, so my little evidence for a track coming (big huff of hopium) was countered by counter-evidence of previous (and more recent) pattern
 
So anyway, japes aside, you can probably be safe in predicting no track - no way that wouldn't have also "leaked" out and there's not one in the schedule for the GTWS event itself.

PD uses event builds even at its offices, so I'd imagine nothing from single-player would be in the build to leak. Even so, I'd not expect anything major.
 
IF the Caterham 7 is really coming to GT7, I hope predict that it will get a 13B Rotary swap :cool:

Well, I built my own with Claude. It's one that suits me.

The part that is frustrating for me is that there has been nothing added to Sophy. The power pack is ok, but once you do the races, there's nothing to go back for. There's many more cars with Sophy support than the game provides. For instance, the F3500B works great, but you have to use the Sophy work around.

We need more tracks to support Sophy as well. Waiting for the next game for official support, when it's obvious the support exists now, is a crappy move IMHO.

But ya, back to career mode, Claude will spit out an HTML career mode for you.

With the Performance Pack there's kinda or mostly a proper career mode, but it needs to be expanded even more, and kinda similar to GT3/GT4/GT5 etc. Even if PDI doesn't want us to make custom career mode, they should let us make custom championship and share it on the GT7 servers with all the other stuff that gamers made.
 
Anybody heard that the event has happened and is prerecorded? Sounds like nonsense to me but had been mentioned, and so this is why the apparent leaked cars keep being mentioned...
 
At least there's still time for those Round 3 tickets, though I'm now wondering if the chosen venue will hold THAT many people with how these seem to sell out in a usually shorter timeline.

I'm telling ya, use Claude and make your own championship tracker. PD won't do a career or custom championships. 30 years without a "proper" career mode, and too many people want too many different things.

I made my own, and I'm happy. Sure, it requires some manual input, but I can do anything. I can make a one make championship for every car in the catalogue (that supports Sophy). It's less fun with the regular AI, but still pretty good.

It's a few prompt lines and you'll be ready to go. No waiting.

EDIT - For those 💩 on this post, I'll repeat this franchise is nearly 30 years old. Next year is 30. It's older than some of the people on this forum. If they have not introduced a career yet, it simply is not part of the game DNA and it will never happen. It's the same as asking for an open world. You can wait for nothing, or you can take matters into your own hands.

Before the Toyota twins was rumoured, I was typing up a feeling we’d see a saloon from a Japan racing series, but not manufactured in Japan. The ex-Peter Brock VK SS that raced in the 1987 INTERTEC endurance race at Fuji Speedway.

It was a long shot, but was feeling like time for another four door saloon. If the rumour/leak is right on the money, as has been mentioned, we’re getting not one, but three four door saloons.

If one of the Toyotas gets a 3UZ V8 swap, even though the cars would be from the late 1990s, I could make it work in a Group A grid. :)
 
Would it break any forum rules (or be a bit unethical) if someone shared hints about who won the Tokyo races so we can collect the 2M credits from the Predict the Winners campaign? Or is that considered virtual insider trading?

It probably wouldn't, but that's a strict violation of an NDA.

I predicted that Porsche would win the Manufacturers' Cup and with Pol Urra being the winner of the Nations Cup, much like the last time around. If I get both wrong, I'm switching my avatar to Ai from Oshi no Ko.

Given all these leaks from the event, PD might want to consider being a bit more selective with its invitees in future.
