Prices on PS3s

Hey GTP.
I was going to get another (yes, another) PS3 to play at my mom's house because my dad... long story. Anyway, I can't bring my Dad's PS3 to my mom's house for 2 reasons, one of them is that I'm afraid it will break if I even took it in a bag. My mom and I were looking at prices in Futureshop, Best Buy and Wal-Mart for lower prices but believe it or not, all the prices were $299 CAN. We were thinking to look in the US in Buffalo. Are the prices cheaper? I can't look because they'll always ask for a Zip code and here in Canada, we use postal codes.
 
Well regular retail shops will have it at suggested retail price. You could spend a little more and get a used 80GB fat PS3 on amazon.ca for $320. You would gain the ability to play PS2 games on the PS3 and it would be more convenient if you want to play a PS2 game. Of course all PS3's play PS1 games and you do get the card reader with the 80GB.

The only real way that you will be getting a slim for cheaper is if you buy it used.
 
lol, I wouldn't be scared to carry a PS3 around (except for the risk of someone stealing it). It is rather tough, given mine survived the baggage hold of an airliner. Although, I did wrap it in a towel and clothing...
But yeah, any PS3 in a store is going to be at MSRP or higher. If you want one for "cheap", you are gonna have to go buy one off of someone else lol...
 
@Venom800tt, I actualy have traumatic expiriences with carrying systems in bags like my sis's Xbox360. We had it in a rolling suitcase and then when we hooked it up it got the RRD! Wow, you're PS3 survived baggage?! Ok, I know a used one would be cheaper but could I trust it wouldn't stop working within the whole time I have it? Plus I live in Canada so I imagine that where you live it could be cheaper with all the currency and stuff. How much is it there? My mom's a banker so she could calculate the difference.
 
A brand new PS3 Slim runs $299 USD. Now, it might be possible to find them on sale online from Dell, though I have not seen any lately. Dell is how I got my 60gb 360 Pro for $200 lol...
 
Well that defeats the purpose. I think you got ripped off at Amazon actualy because I saw a new 80gb on sale at EB Games\ gamestop for 248. In that case, I think I'll look in EB Games then.
 
Well if you want to get a ps3 console from ebgames it's be best to grab one of the 80GB PS3's with 4 usbs because they can play PS2 games by software emulation. Here is the link to the product page, click. I reference Wikipedia's PS3 article to keep track of which PS3 systems have PS2 support.
 
Dude, just get one on sale. I got mine from Best Buy online at boxing day. $299 for the limited edition 160 fat and comes with Little Big Planet, Uncharted 1 and Ratchet and Clank a Crack In Time. Also try trading at EB games. There's countless ones such as Young/Bloor (near the sushi places), Young Street, Burnhamthrope/Erin Mills PKY, Clarkson crossing (Winston Churchill & Southdown), Sherway Gardens, Vaughn Mills area and more.
 
The thing is, ALL places where I look, they're $299. But I'll definitely check those places out. I'm probably going to sell my PS2 and all of its games on Kijiji. Is it worth it or should I just trade at EB games? Does anyone enen buy PS2 stuff anymore?
 
An EB games by Burnhamthorpe and Erin Mills offered $10 for my PS2 console. Sold my PS2 on Kijiji with GT4, NFs Prostreet and U2, Simpsons Hit and Run NHL 2k6 and socom II for $60.
