Prize Cars...WTF mate?

Some prize cars are really worthless. You spend time and efforts on a racing series to be rewarded.... a Daihatsu Midget D.

It seems to be worse the more you go up too. Some of the extreme series "prizes" are really not worth the effort.

Wait until you start doing some of the endurance races, you will be just gutted...

One of them gives you a pickup truck that you've probably seen 20 times in the used car dealership...

:banghead:

I did the FGT championship not knowing what I was going to get, and when I did get it:
:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

The Caterham is a fun car, but I really hope this was a joke by PD:mad:

Most prize cars are junk, but the cars you get for the Endurance Races take the cake... Dumb 80s concept cars that never made it to production because they suck.

With the exception of the Jag XJ13, the endurance prize cars are hardly any motivation to sit through hours of lapping the same tracks.

Excellent points, and that Alfa Romeo that you win in B Spec is coveted a whole lot more when you realize that even though it has less than 200 horsepower, it is worth 10 million and you got it for free! :)

God, I love that car.

Nice thread title, so descriptive in so many ways ...

Really really bad cars I won that almost made me rage-quit GT5
*Toyota 7
*Toyota Minolta
*That Carozzata Alfa thingy whateveritnameis
*XJ13
*Mazda Furai
*Gt by Citröen Race Car
*A couple of variations of the GT40

*Farrari F40

The list is long ...

It is hard to know whether the random prize from GT4 is better or not, I am seriously questioning this after "winning" a BMW 120d (diesel!!) for my 1000 ticket. A 120d? Really? I can afford to buy one of those out here in the real world, and I still wouldn't. Thanks a bunch.

I've pretty much stopped racing for prize cars after i got that honda city turbo. Sure it's a great car and all but not fitting for such a race.

But what would happen if it gave you amazing prize cars that you could use to win the next race? Surely that would just turn the game into what Forza 3 was for me... I don't think I really HAD to buy any cars.

Often when I win a new car, my wife comes have a look. I remember when that Honda City Turbo rolled into the light in all its 80s brownness, my wife asked "You're going to sell that thing immediately, right?"

:yuck:

I was going to say sacrilege, but then I realised you were being sarcastic  👍

What were you expecting them to give you? I mean, you probably would have wanted something faster, but why? You already have an FGT, and chances are you have plenty of other fast cars you like.

For all those complaining that the prize cars are boring and useless, PD tried to pick a variety of cars, not just fast ones, so players can experience the full range of slow to fast cars and the odd unique ones. If you don't like them, don't drive them (though you can't know you don't like them 'til you do). There is a prize car list so there should be no nasty surprises. Unless you're purposely trying to surprise yourself, in which case, try driving the slower cars. You might be surprised to find you like them.

I agree with earlier post, there are some gems as prize cars like Minolta, Toyota 7, GT-One, Furai concept, #88 Impala, Countache LP400 to name a few. But 2 midgets and Fireblade prize for FGT is just wrong! makes you think that PD rushed the prize car lists for the launch.

Fireblade for FGT! That is an inside joke at PD surely... such a challenging, difficult and hard fought late game series to win a $30k bike car. Don't get me wrong the Fireblade is awesome but for Extreme series??? How about a F1 or a LMR instead.

The only problem i have with some of the prize cars is that chances are you may have bought one already ,i just completed the German Touring Car Championship and won the BMW Turbo , a car that i've had in my garage for ages and i also have a Fireblade which i know i'll win eventually aswell , that's a bit annoying.

I bought the Toms Castrol Supra early on, one of my "always buy" cars, then won 2 of them. It's one thing for the game to give you a car you own once, but to do it twice is extracting the urine... to put it politely. And I'm sick of these damned concept cars, and more importantly, the standard cars. The prize cars should have been premium at least, and premium ones that were not available to buy too.

It's just one more thing that sucks big style in GT5.

Could be worse.

You could have the prize lottery like in GT3.

Finish a four-hour race... covered in sweat and with eyes red from fatigue, you sit there as the shadows are spinning saying: "F1, F1, F1, F1..."

Then when the spotlight comes on, you get...

Another Miata. Meh. Oil change. Repeat race.

I used to like that. Maybe not in the endurances, but certainly in the Championship Series. Not least because it made it worth running the same series a few times (or saving before the last race and reloading until you get the car you want).

I've been generally disapointed with the prize cars in GT5. There are a couple of reasons for this. The first being that I've played the game the way I think it was designed to be played - I've done A-spec and B-Spec side by side - so there have been points where I've won the same car (or essentially the same car) twice. The second problem I've had is that a lot of the cars are a bit rubbish or, more to the point, a lot of the cars aren't that usefull. Which brings me onto my biggest problem - in previous titles, there's been that thing where you complete competition 1 to get car x, which you use in competition2 to get car y, which you then take to competition 3 to get car z. There just isn't enough of that in GT5...

I agree! I'm currently stuck and can no longer complete left over races because the cars i need are not at the ucd and not at the ncd...WTF????

The only reason I still do the b-spec is to get to level 40. I have all the really expensive cars I want (yes, I bought or won them myself) and the other cars that I still don't own I can buy for my own credits. Prize cars are a non issue now.

Do some B spec and after a week or so you will get a free Zonda R, when you tune it up it is all you need. Of cause there are races with restrictions, but it is faster then anything i have met in A spec. You also get a Toyota Minolta, and a Toyota 7 Race car, which are also extremely fast. If you do A and B spec in the same time, or progress equally quick so to speak, you can basically win any event with prize cars. Though i do hate the 1000 ticket, usually it is just pure rubbish you get.

Early on in A-Spec you receive an Acura DN-X Concept... Then later on in the game after an endurance race, you receive a Honda Dualnote Concept... It's the same car. Why PD?

What races?

I dont remember what the name was but its a classic race that requires a car from 79 or earlier, I think. Now there is a ferrari in the dealership for 20000000 that would keep up wih the other cars but I am nowhere near that amount...
All the other cars on the track and in the list are standards, I've been playing for a month and none of those have been available... :(.

Yes, the prize car system fails. Most prize cars should NOT be purchasable like in previous GTs. And NONE of the cars should be prizes for more than one event.

This, I bought mine did not wait for the prize.

But really, another "I'm disappointed" thread, how many do we need?

Depends on the amount of disappointment I guess. I get disappointed every day and every time I play GT5, but damnit I still freakin love it and play the piss outta it. Its a weird love hate thing.:indiff:

It would be better if you could sell them. I badly needed to raise about 1 million before the online store changed inventory.... I had some great cars, worth a lot, that I didn't really mind losing. But, you can't sell most of them, but the game does offer to remove them from your garage. Thanks.

Yeah right, Zonda R, F40, the minolta, SLS , Lexus concept, original GT40, GT40, GT40 spec II, Mazda Furai, HKS CT230R, GT by citroen race car, Alfa Romeo Giula TZ2, Toyota Castrol Tom's Supra 97, Amuse Nismo 380RS, Shelby Cobra 427, 2010 Juan Montoya Impala, Fairlady Z Concept LM RC, Dodge Viper GTS Team Oreca, Toyota 7, and I could go on.

Honestly I remember more good than bad cars, sure there's some comon crappy car, especially in the hardest challenge, but it's ok. And the one that you find crappy might appeal other people. Not everyone got the same taste, for example I love JDM car and couldnt care less of european exotic.

Biggest problem with MOST of those prize cars is they're for B-SPEC bull:censored: and i'm not wasting my time watching the CPU drive round a track (badly might i add)

Do the B Spec 'Like The Wind' event and you win the Toyota 7 Race Car ... I bypassed both of the A/B Spec Historic cups until I had this, fully tuned it has over 900bhp and weighs just over 600kg, I went back to do them recently and even Bob walked it!

I just wish you could win cars that you need. Why give a classic car for the classic car challenge? I just bought one to win the challenge!:banghead:

I love that car. It won me some rally races back in the GT4 days.

It's won me far more races than it should in GT5 as well. The City Turbo II weighs next to nothing and just zips around corners. Absolutely great little car.
