“The entire focus of this effort is to raise funds for Karts4Kids, which benefits Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital,” Bourdais added. “Anyone interested in supporting the charity can donate and have their name or company featured on the car. Donations start at $5,000 and directly support children and their families. Since its creation, Karts4Kids has continued to raise the bar, and with the exposure from racing in one of North America’s most popular series, I hope we can generate even more support for this very worthy cause.”

Bourdais will complete a test with MMR at Carolina Motorsports Park, February 17th, to be acclimated to the highly competitive MX-5 Cup machinery. He joins a distinguished list of professional drivers who’ve had guest appearances in MX-5 Cup, including Parker Kligerman, James Hinchcliffe and Earl Bamber.

Great to see a young fella looking beyond the usual domestic Supercars, or international open-wheeler paths for his future opportunities.

Matt Campbell has proved in recent times, if you've got the talent, you can make a great career in sports car racing.

I will be checking this out in 3D, along with all the other beautiful classics that make this such a great event.

Incidentally, Lawrie Nelson's Mustang was the last fox body to race in period Group A during the 1990 season.

From memory, the Dick Johnson car had 330bhp at best, but the Nelson Mustang is now being quoted at 390bhp by its current owner.
Be that alterations to the rule book or evolutions of the 5.0 Ford, I don't know.

In addition, DJs top speed at Bathurst, was 254 km/h during the Hardies Heroes top 10 shoot out in 1986.
The top speed during the race was 275 km/h achieved by the 05 Commodore of Brock/Moffat.

I saw the Nelson Mustang a few times at Eastern Creek. I have some pics floating in an old computer file somewhere.
Yeah, a shame they weren't making big power. A Dutch Mustang touring car made about 350 bhp back in '84. Its specs should be in one of the links I posted in the GT7 tuning forum.

I guess you're licking your lips at return of the Muscle Car Masters to the Creek/SMP ?

Yeah, my wife wants to take her Falcon down since it’s getting body work and a respray next month and hopefully DJ is around on the day of the Masters to sign it. We still have to get him to sign this.

When it was the annual Father’s Day ritual, it was the best with the family. After chatting with DJ and Moffat at the GP, Moffat would always remember my daughter. Going to be hard to find many of the legends hanging around.

You would know better than me, but I know DJR lost the Jim Beam dollarbucks by 2012, so this has to be 2011 or earlier.

Hopefully, DJ is there for you, but these Legends aren't getting any younger. He'll be 81 this year.

I have to admit, I cried my eyes out when Moff died last year. Still brings a tear to the eyes and gets the bottom lip quivering 🥺
I was a Brock fan growing up, but my maternal grandmother spent the last four years of her life getting taken by damn Alzheimer's Disease 💔
That's no way for a legend of the sport to spend their twilight years fading away.
It is sad and selfish to mourn the loss of someone taken that way, but we need to be thankful that his existence of suffering is finally over.
I'm just thankful I got to meet him in 2020 before it truly took hold and he still had the ability to remember with some gentle proding and persuasion of pictures and familiar faces.
He also got to write a book of his life with John Smailes. If you haven't read Climbing The Mountain, I highly recommend it so that you can get a full understanding of the complicated man he was.

Yes, it was March 2011 our first Melbourne GP.

Yeah, not to bring up the feels, to my daughter he was “Uncle Allan” and “Auntie Sue” at race meetings. Didn’t get to know him intimately, but he did give us his time.
