The delta reading isn't as comprehensive as earlier instalments in the series but it's still very useful for improving my times. Wish there was a ghost option too.

Having picked this up I'm having a great time so far especially when I discovered the Aggression setting goes up to Very Hard.

Having a smashing time trying to hunt down the polystyrene targets in Breakout as well.

Guys, is PCARS3 worth it? I've been watching gameplay footage and the car sounds are incredible to my ear. Visuals are okay too and I supposed I don't mind the toned down physics.

As long as you know what you're getting, as in, more Grid than AC, then it is a good fun game to play. Great track list and car list and plenty to do in career mode.

It's fun, but you'll need a beefy CPU (or current gen console) to get good framerates.

It was horribly optimised on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and the current gen hardware brute-forces it to 60fps.

Yes, I got the odd stutter early on on my Series X but since then it's run really smoothly.

I really like the game, I often fire it up to have a few shortish fun races. It's absolutely ideal for that. The physics aren't ACC levels of realism but it's certainly not full "arcade", you take a corner too fast and you'll crash.
But saying that, I'm not sure it's worth the full price it seems to stay at in the store (PlayStation anyway). If you can find it cheaper I'd say go for it while it's still available to purchase. Get the deluxe version for all the additional cars too.

I was playing it for quite some time and grinding for cars. I've thought about doing that again and continuing the rivals events. I always liked competing in those.

I feel like it's a better, more varied GRID Legends with worse graphics really. It's a nice game. It's just not Project CARS 3.

Its a good game especially if you can get it on sale. I got the deluxe edition on $25 a couple of years ago. It is not worth the full price to me. Great selection of cars and tracks. I like livery editor and it gives you the ability to create and save them and apply it to any car.

I'm up to Hypercars now and have had a fairly great time with the career so far when I wasn't trying to race supercars in a snow blizzard or trying to run Pace Setter over and over where one mistake borks the entire three lap run.

Not sure whether I want to blow another twenty eight pounds on the DLC which didn't come with the disk I bought though.

I'm always checking the DLC to hopefully get it when on offer, but it never is 😕
PC2 comparison aside it's a great game, particularly if using a controller, I certainly need to go back to it. Pre Forza I was playing the dailies, weeklies and monthly challenges.

I'm eyeing the Deluxe version as well - visuals seem sharper and cleaner looking than PCARS 2 on the Xbox One X, and man... the car sounds are really something. My main motivation is to hear those engines at full blast vol :D

Thanks for your insights, will probably pick it up at 50% or more sale.

Good stuff, thanks man. Yes I'm aware that it's nowhere near what PCARS 2 was as a sim, and that's fine. I have CARS 1 & 2, this would round off the collection nicely. I have AC UE too, so I keep hopping between these games, as FM23 didn't quite cure the itch.

I'm looking for a simcade game that I can play with a controller.

Something in that Grid style that is still grounded in relative realism but is approachable, should I give this a try?

That about sums up PC3. It is probably all the SIM you'll ever need. 😉

Just checked on pstore, 80$ cad for base game, 126$cad for complete..
Id try it maybe for 15$, if sound, ai, is so great and controller handling is smooth.

Im looking for less sim games lately, bit bored, but grid, the crew, nfs dont seem my cup of tea either, i don't know..

I remember finding nfs 2015 nice, but the on off drift put me off a little.
Might as well have something different, not a game that is almost like all my usual sims, but less interesting.
Not much into bumper cars, so even in a game like circuit superstars i up the damage to make it interesting, and do long races with pitstops, tire wear, fuel..

Inertial drift looks kinda cool, not sure what the handling is like, seems close to nfs maybe.

I like top-down perspective, nice change. Art of rally, woden gp, absolute drift seem good.

Gonna try wreckfest maybe on ps5, looks super nice,,just worried if I'll tire fast of demolition derby style, if the handling is satisfying with a controller, and ai is a good challenge maybe.

Do it, don't worry about the wreckpart, mostly more optional and only required in some events. Just an absolute blast of a arcadeish racing game with superb controller handling.
PCars 3 also but Wreckfest is a must play!

Did get it last night, went to sleep around 5am🤣 doh!🤦.
Well its like that with a new game with a lot to check out and try.
I like it, well made game, the handling with max hard setting is just enough to feel interesting fun with a controller.

Tracks seem fun especially, and ai is funny mental, but it's also the one problem i see with this game for now.

The ai is wreckless😋, i mean they just veer into trees etc all the time, it's fun and you see a lot of crashes etc, but for now i had a lot of dnf from ai, even on minimum normal damage setting, maybe almost half.

Then if you up damage, it becomes most dnf, with only 3 to 5 ai still in it by the end of a few laps race.
So even if i set difficulty at normal or expert, its same, or worse even on expert, they go full mental even more and all dnf with crashes.

And i end up in the 1st 3 often even if i didnt pass any cars the whole race.
I dont know, that's kinda disappointing for single-player.
This was in the custom event races.
They seem to have a boost in speed to compensate for their crashing too.

But it's enjoyable for sure on ps5,super smooth, looks good, sounds cool, also the replay has a free cam, never had that i think in my games, pretty cool.

Edit: i wish you could set the ai damage to less, so it can finish longer than 5 mins races.

I thought maybe it depends on tracks, but it's just the total time of the race, if i set it to last 5 mins, its ok and maybe just 3 ai dnf, but at 8 mins it becomes 8, then if 10 or 15 mins or more, most dnf, bit of a shame, i like longer races.

After being pleasantly surprised by grid legends, I'm slightly😋 looking into pcars3.
It seems it's missing the historic tracks from pc2?
Can you bump the lap count in career like in legend? Im not much for 2 lap races.
Can you do custom races, championships?

Im thinking at least it be a cleaner, smoother version of pc2 on ps5. And that i can pick up and play with a pad when not in the mood for full wheel set-up sim.

Concerning tracks, it has Monza, Hockenheim and Silverstone historic tracks, but no Le Mans or Spa sadly...

In custom race you can do pretty much everything in term of Race length

Last part, very easy to pick up and play with a controller, it's day and night with PC2 on that regard

Without checking, so I might be wrong, but I don't think PC3 has the historic versions of any of these. Not sure entirely why. Possibly because they wouldn't really fit in with the extra off circuit additions - tents, balloons, aircraft etc.

It does have quite a few extra tracks not available in PC2 though @Jtheripper. Many of them quite good too.

There is a fairly complete list (compiled by @Famine) of everything HERE. I'm not sure if it includes all the extra DLC tracks and cars though, might do. The extra circuits were free, the extra cars were paid for.

PC1 and 2 are challenging on controller but it works especially on consoles. PC3 is purely made for controllers.
Can anyone elaborate this?

I'm looking for a console racing game for PS4. I have an old Driving Force Pro wheel but it is not compatible. Before I got the DFP, I got all golds on GT3 using the controller, so I know how to drive or fly using the analog sticks. Unfortunately the DFP is not compatible with the PS4, and I'm not sure I would want to drag it out all the time anyway.

I was given Project CARS 1 for the PS4, but I find it totally undriveable with the controller. I would pick up PC2 or PC3, but I don't want that same frustration.
