I don't think so. Like MagpieRacer said it "only" seems veeery very poor weak marketing, something it still baffles me as to why they market this game so bad.

I think they want to sit silent to stop pit-stops/tire wear affair and will start to build hype very close to actual release.

1 month from release is really close and we still don't know much about the gameplay structure. I'm not even sure is a month of marketing is enough to attract new audience or convince some of the existing fans back.

For fans like us. Reviews and opinions will do. We are searching for new games and even those without marketing we can dig out because we are passionate about this game genre. The problem is... with casual players which SMS tries to please with these entry. I think they can be negatively surprised about their interest.

I think they are making big mistake. SMS has great opportunity to sell this entry well. With both Forza and GT7 being delayed to.... nobody knows when, SMS have advantage of having big AAA racing title this year. If they won't market this game well they will miss their chance to attract fans of both Forza and GT7.

I wouldn't mind getting it day 1 if I know more what I'm getting in it and as for the casual, they really need better marketing to at least give it a chance to attract them.

Even at its current state with cut features, it could still do well since FM/GT is not releasing this year and Grid last year is not that good. I do feel like they have miss their chance for marketing the game, with 1 month time I doubt it could get enough people interested or know about it.

Everyone here with strong opinions on marketing:lol:. I doubt we know as much about it as they do. It's still a month away. Plenty of time to build hype.

As for preorders, I'm quite sure on PS4 Sony decides when/if they get a preorder. I know I was dying to get my hands on Snowrunner, and I asked about why there was no preorder. They said they'd love for there to be that option, but Sony decides if and when it gets one

This is correct but I think Sony also have timeframes in mind for when they will allow Pre-Orders, the example I'll quote here is Fairy Tail which has bonus content if it's pre-ordered for the digital deluxe edition however the game's pre-order only came up one month ago with the release date being 30 July.

PC 3 if I recall is not due until 23 August so technically should be coming in the pre-order window if it's to happen it will be very soon.

Think a lot of games they may have decided to not open the window so early unless they are sure it will meet the release dates given that they can always be subject to change, less work to update later!

BS

You can pre-order Far Cry 6 and that doesn't come out till Feb 18, 2021

Most games up for pre order on psn are for release in OCT or NOV 2020

No 1 month is not enough unless you want your game to bomb which is hwy were 32 days away and we barely know anything about this game.

I know more about a game that doesn't come out till next year then i do about a game that comes out in 32 days.

Well, I remember DiRT Rally (early access) being released the day it was announced. I think it went pretty well for them. I know an early access is not the same as a full release, but it’s still something to think about I think.

Because they are all big games that Sony know will sell in huge numbers by making pre-orders early and those companies want to secure people's money for the product..

You can call it BS if you wish, that's your opinion but the lack of a digital pre-order either means two things, Slightly Mad have already told Sony not to put pre-orders up yet because they might not meet release date or it will just randomly appear in the pre-order list take Yakuza - Like a Dragon for example which hasn't had any official announcement from Sega yet about coming to the west.

Things have changed in the way they do pre-orders and that's not something any of us have control over.

Why? Are gamers unaware of games? Do they need loads of videos on add filled sites week after week to know it exists? Or do you just, you know, look on the Playstation store for what's new? Seriously - anyone interested in race games will know about this. It is not an issue.

Yes, they issued that article an announcement just after it went up on the PlayStation Store as the store update led me to the article.

Whatever our respect viewpoints are it shows that the store is not working the way it used to and that's a Sony decision.

Also just to add to this I should add that Captain Tsubasa was listed on the PlayStation store for Pre-order last week but is now 'hidden' this means the items are there, it's just when Sony turns them visible to buy!

EDIT: Link to show the game listing but NOTE what happens immediately after

Please get off that marketing your product last minutes is not good business anyone knows that.

They are marketing it to people who already know about it. That’s not great marketing. The whole point is to make people who are not aware of it already, aware.

Keep in mind there are going to be a bunch of stores that are still closed, or people avoiding going to them due to the current world situation. You don’t have the walk in hype of casuals asking their game store people what is new. Or having signage and videos playing in the store.

The car list is coming very soon. And the game will have preorder bonuses, so there will be a preorder. At least that was the plan a week or two ago.

Website after website has NEWS. Look it up. Detail? Some developers give this information out some don't. If they haven't then either they don't want to or they are not ready yet. Maybe they have something to hide - maybe they just don't want to quote chapter and verse to you.

Case and Point

32 days left and i'm still undecided on rather i'm gonna buy this game or not. And no it has nothing to do with the game since anyone knows how much i love pcars 2 it has to do with the fact that i know nothing of the game and what it is and how it plays.

This.

A good degree of information exists about PC3, if and only if, you follow the digital marketing channels for the product.

Now if PC3 was simply a follow-up to PC2 and not aimed at attracting a fresh audience that would be fine, but its not PC3 is supposed to be actively seeking a wider audience, aiming at bringing people into the sim racing world. They are an audience that is not going to be following PC's digital channels, quite the opposite. Yet when you look at general gaming sites you are faced with a dearth of information. IGN has two articles, Games Radar has two, Push Square has three, and Eurogamer has two. Now in every case one of these is simply the release date info, which means the actual coverage of detail is minimal, to say the least.

In comparison Dirt 5 (a title that's aiming at a similar audience) has five on IGN, Gamesradar has five, Push Square has eight, with only Eurogamer coming in the same as PC3 with two. Not only are the number of times the titles been featured wildly different, but the depth of coverage is as well.

If the target audience for PC3 isn't getting the information fed to them its not going to happen by itself, and time is running out to make enough of a difference in that regard, and a pre-order popping up in the PS Store isn't going to do it, as it will be seen as 'just another PC sim release'.

Do you know how many seconds it took me to find this?

Why do you need to know something that you will find out once the game is released? Then you make the call on buying it or not.
