I love that there's a note on the window that says "Post test". I'm sure know one would have a clue otherwise. :)

Anyway chaps let it lie. All this chest thumping is awkward. It's not compulsory to reply to every post you know. (The ignore user button is also a great option in some cases.)

Some like the game and think it replicates real life vehicles well, great. There are others who also like the game but say it's not so true to life, and that's also great. Others don't like the game or the handling (much like with PC2) and that's fine. That's opinions for you, and most seem to understand that it's just differing views of A GAME (or games). Although it often seems like it, there's no points to be scored so what's the point in getting so worked up about it and continually going over the same ground. There's too much bitterness about!

The only qualms I'd have is with those who haven't even got the game, yet seem to have strong opinions on it, particularly the handling. And this is I presume from... well I not sure. They'd have to try and explain, reviews, hearsay, a general prejudice? People seem to dislike the game, not because of the actual game, but because it wasn't marketed in the manner they'd like. I always find this odd. It's that "All the..." again.

As I've said before I like the game. A lot. Whether it's got entirely accurate true to life handling? Probably not. What I would say is it's got the best balance between realistic yet fun handling of any of the titles I've owned. Of course that's just an opinion just based on personal enjoyment, nothing else.

And @Mr Grumpy, from our PCCP races and from watching your videos then guessing at what you seem to like, I actually think you'd like PC3. Maybe take a chance when it's on sale next, you might be surprised. I was. ;)

Well said!

I like PC3. I liked PC2 too, but I like the handling physics in PC3 a lot more than PC2 so there's no going back. I've stopped playing GT Sport and ACC as much because the driving in PC3 is more fun to me. Even the multiplayer races in PC3 feel more enjoyable to race in. GT Sport and ACC used to be my go to for online races.

I play mostly with a ffb steering wheel, but even with the gamepad it is great and I feel like I'm driving with a wheel when using the gamepad because PC3 is the first game with gamepad controls that implement caster. Those unfamiliar have to just look at how drifts are done with opposite lock when a driver releases his hands off the wheel.

Even Gran Turismo lacked this gamepad control feature and this is very important for controlling a car on a gamepad. Not so much if you use a steering wheel as the ffb takes care of this.

You have touched down on all the bases my friend ....
As you say it is all about the fun / pleasure we personally get out of PC3..... compared to playing other racing formats....
I am of the same mind set as you.... in that PC2 and Forza 7 are now just gathering dust ....
PC3 is giving me bucket loads of the kind of excitement / adrenaline rush.... that we all love.....

Good scrap in your video @BreakerOhio. He/she didn't want to give up that 1st place spot! Good to see @Toblerone (Savoury69) on track too.

I really must do some more online racing, I usually dive straight into Rivals or custom races. You might see my name pop up sometime. :)

No you're wrong! Stop enjoying it. :mischievous:

Looks like your quotes are broken.

Try responding in the blank box at the bottom instead of hitting quote or reply and just type normally. If you type @ and then the username, it'll autocomplete and tag a person, like this: @barry chipman
Thanks for the advice PJ ...... I'm not sure what's going on here...

Hello. Hello. I can't quite hear you. Come in @barry chipman. Over. :)
Sorry about the break down in communications my friend .....
It's just a line to let you know..... as requested I'm trying really hard not to enjoy myself quite so much ......
Thanks for coming back to me ......
It's always nice when we get a response to our posted pearls of wisdom......don't you think...

That was a great race, I really enjoyed it bud. So sorry for spearing across the track and taking you out... but the guy in 1st was barging his way past then blocking... and he forced me onto the grass while I was at full throttle. Soz pal, I never race dirty.

I'm with you 100%, the physics across the board in pC3 are astounding, every car is an absolute joy to push the limits in... this is no arcade game.

I would love to get a core of clean racers together on PSN for some online battles as the racing can be truly awesome.

Thanks again for a brilliant, exhilirating race... I hope we can have many, many more!

Multiplayer is remarkably clean in this game; it's like the early days of GT Sport.

Yes, my online races have been very clean in PC3. Sometimes I find dirty drivers, but the physics in PC3 let me have better control of the car's position to avoid the dirty driver's moves. Even if the cars do make impact, unlike GT Sport the cars can lean on each other and not bounce off like marbles.

With PC3 we can fight for position, use real race craft and be in position to decide what to do next. We can commit to the inside pass or brake late and back off. This has helped to make the multiplayer fun and clean.

Imagine if that race video was GT Sport, the fun would have ended with penalties for the minor touches, or someone punted off like marbles.

I can tell you are a clean driver. The races we did were amazing, the Ford Escort was surprisingly fun to drive around at Brands Hatch. I'm with you on the physics and every car in PC3 is a joy to drive on the limits.

Maybe we can figure out some kind of series. Hope to find you in the lobbies again. I knew it was gonna be good when I recognized your name from the Rivals top %1 leaderboards. I think we get to experience a lot of different cars by doing the Rivals event. :)
They all have their own unique feel.

@BreakerOhio and @Toblerone - could I ask, was that a scheduled, quick or lobby race with the 355s? I've tried a few of the first two but have not jumped into a lobby.

I hadn't actually considered this. Now that you mention it perhaps the contact/crash physics are toned down a little from PC2. Which would be good because they did have a tendency to sometimes be a bit overdramatic with only the smallest amount of contact.

I was a backmarker in those races but I had an absolute blast too.
I've been away for about a year and there have been two updates and new Fanatec FW too.

For all it's drawbacks, the core of the game is as solid as a rock. The ffb and physics are excellent.
All you need is good people on track to race with.

We'll definitely have to get a group together for some races.

@BreakerOhio, @Toblerone

Speaking of racing, my Xbox club's running again tonight.

We're doing Road B cars with a Public Lobby so hop along and drive from 8pm UK time :)

Discord's here but is entirely optional as the lobby will be public.

A big thanks to you guys for sharing your experiences and enthusiasm for this great racing game......keep it up.......

Bought PCars3 for £20 in the PS Store sale last week and I'm actually quite impressed, it's a really decent arcade racer, plays well with a pad, handling is good, it's actually what the rebooted GRID should have been like. Thought I'd be really disappointed when I saw how arcade-like it was but it plays really well, it pretty much dampened the disappointment of not being a racing sim by being a solid enjoyable arcade experience.

Looks like the next DLC drop isn't far away, new achievements showed up on Xbox tonight

"Power Pack", features 370Z, Silvia S15, Trueno and Lake Valley circuit

Interesting. Got a screenshot of that?

I agree. PC3 is really fun to play, it's a decent arcade racer, overall the game is really good for what it is. Never liked the Grid reboot, however I can get comfortable with PC3 and have some fun with it. Great graphics, great gameplay, nice car list, happy days in my book.

It has its faults, for me the car list is one, not really a lot added from PC2 and the real tracks have taken a hit for some god awful GRID-like made up street garbage. Their biggest mistakes though were making it a numbered entry in the series and their horse**** marketing saying it still would appeal to sim fans. Had they called it Project Cars Shift or something and marketed it as a spin off there wouldn't have been any problem.

I see your point. Renaming it Project Cars Shift or something along those lines would have most likely caused the game less criticism. Like, imagine if Gran Turismo Sport was named Gran Turismo 7? Yeah, the marketing wasn't that great especially the appeal to all sim fans like you just mentioned. Pit Stops are the biggest negative for me. Daft decision to take those out, makes longer races less fun.

My opinion still stands though. I like the game for what it is, it's really fun to play imo. It was a breath of fresh air for me considering all I would play was simulation type games like PC2, Dirt Rally etc. I like the arcade style racing in PC3 with the nice graphics.

PC2 and PC3 are like night and day. If I want to play a realistic sim type race, I'll go on PC2. If I want to play an quick none-serious arcade race for the fun of it, I'll go play PC3. Have both installed on my PS4. But I do agree that they should have renamed it to something else, Shift would have made sense considering PC3 & NFS Shift are quite similar.

Excellent. Solid article material right there!

Personally, I think SMS's fantasy track design is great. The new fantasy circuits in PCARS3 are among my top go-to tracks in the game. Fictional circuits don't have to take safety or spectators into consideration, opening the door to more fun corners and elevation changes. :)

Modern real-world circuit design (Hermann Tilke) is about the opposite of everything I like in a track. Sensible for the real world with real drivers and spectators; practically pointless in a videogame. I get it if you're a fan of a motorsport that races those tracks, though -- same for ovals.

Just like the ones in GRID they're boring city tracks with too many 90 degree corners. Terrible designs lacking any sort of imagination with the same boring backdrops, aren't they the same cities as well? If you want to see good fictional tracks then GT is the benchmark where actual effort and thought has been put in, PC3 and Grid's efforts are abysmal.

I dunno, as far as city street tracks go, I enjoy Havana more than most. It makes me think of Project Gotham Racing. Shanghai is so-so. The rest aren't cities. Three road circuits, two point-to-points, and the fictional racing circuits.

I didn't play the more recent Grid so there's no déjà vu for me. I've had enough with Codemasters -- the one thing they could do to win me back would be a thoroughly evolved "Your Stage 2.0" feature in a rally game...so long as Subarus are in the car roster.
