Sadly sound is still PCars biggest weakness...and the Falcon is even more disappointing because of it. I'll still drive the piss out of it, but I hope they fire the sound guys for PCars 2.
how is it comparing to gran turismo engine sound?

Cars and classes of the upcoming DLC:

BMW 1-Series M Coupe StanceWorks Edition - Road B
BMW 2002 StanceWorks Edition - Historic Touring B
Ford Falcon FG V8 Supercar - V8 Supercars
KTM X-Bow R - Road B
Mazda MX-5 Radbul - Road A

PCARS sound is extremely enjoyable, unlike Gran Turismo which is quite literally all vacuum cleaners and annoying. However, PCARS isn't true to each car. While the sounds are good, they aren't very accurate for a lot of the cars. Heck some are just using modified samples from other models (and I'm talking about the finalized versions), when in fact that car has a unique engine note.

Example of in-accurate being the BMW Z4 GT3, it's got quite the sample, but listen to the real thing and its a bit more refined on the higher RPM's. The real Z4 GT3, isn't quite as harsh and actually inside is more transmission whine with a side dish of screaming V8. R3E is the only game to get it right the closest (with GT6 being the biggest epic fail of a engine of all time, seriously how did that get past QC?).

Example of a accurate-ish sample being the McLaren 12C GT3, because while not 100% bang on, its got the characteristics of the real car. The low-RPM turbo growl is essentially missing outside of pulling out of the pits though, which is disappointing. GRID: Autosport nailed it.

And finally an example of very authentic, the Audi IMSA Quattro 90. Which is like almost exactly like the real thing, one of the best examples of the 5-cylinder Turbo in any console game/one of the best all around.

At least though, aside from having many inaccuracies, the experience of driving isn't ruined. They still allow for immersion into the experience and feeling like you're driving a blood thirsty racecar, that wants to tear your bloody head off, or at least be thrashed around. So while inaccurate, they're still passable.

I just watched all available videos from HKKane and it looks quite good. Bannochbrae is a gorgeous looking location, one I'd love to see at night, so I have some cars lined up for a drive there.

The MX-5 Rad Bull looks insane, the 1M Stanceworks seems fun, KTM X-Bow R much the same although I won't use it much after day one while the Falcon V8SC seems a bit of a beast.

Having the Corvette C7.R, Mercedes-AMG GT3 and Aston Martin Vantage GT12 in the files points to a cracking February DLC update.

I'm still hoping for Indy and Daytona for that February pack. I know they said it's a 50/50 chance they can add it but damn that February car pack look like it's gonna be the best DLC pcars released so far. The Gen 6 Nascar along with the Corvette and Indycars:drool: That just Screams Daytona and Indy. We'll see i guess.

I really don't get the complains about PCars sound either. It sounds good to me and unlike Forza for example you have different sound in every camera angle which is more realistic.

Well, if you want accuracy, Project CARS has its shortcomings. If you want great sounding engines in general, the game is fantastic. As I rather belong to the latter group of people I have nothing to complain either. As long as a V8 sounds like a V8 I'm fine.

"50/50 chance" like all the other "still to come" features, huh? :sly:

I should clarify...PCars sound is okay, but very disappointing given that alternate games really name some sounds. I find RRE and iRacing (depending on the model) have much better sounds. There is an electric kind of warble that ruins 90% of the PCars sounds for me. There is not nearly enough mechanical sound (transmission wobble etc.). It doesn't ruin the immersion for me, but it loses a lot of points. For a game with such great aspects - the sound is a real let-down. That being said I'm sure it's better than GT (that's always been a terrible sounding game).

They could do a hell of a lot better...I really hope they do.

I have patch 8.0 downloaded, but I can't find the DLC anywhere on PlayStation. Did I miss something? I get this problem every time I get PCars DLC.

Nah, essentially when a patch comes out it includes the DLC content...people dig around in the files to find out what's coming with the actual DLC launch. So we get a small heads-up. The actual DLC follows the patch by roughly a week.

Understood. However, where did that AMG GT GT3 shot come from?
