PGR4 has some of the best graphics I've ever seen, period. GT5P is even better, but that's as surprising as a rock falling to the ground when dropped.

Agreed. The boys at Bizarre did a wonderful job with both the cites and on the cars. Its wonderful just stopping the car and having a look around just to marvel at how great it is. Furthermore, the sense of speed is quite good as well, particularly with the in-car cameras... One thing I've taken notice of lately is lighting. The different weather effects are pretty dramatic when you're in the in-car view, although occasionally it gets a bit too dark (making me wonder if the lights are even on at all).

GT5.P? Of course its pretty. They've also got (at least) another year until the full-version comes out... God only knows what the next PGR will be like, although, my assumption is that it may change with the new developer (presumably) getting behind it.

Why is it surprising? It's easier to create car models that don't deform and achieve that clinical GT5 look.

When you drop a rock, and it falls to the ground, does it surprise you?
Neither does GT5:P having great graphics.

That's what I believe Wolfe's saying. ;)

I wasn't referring to his ability or his safety gear... but the choice of the "trick" position. :)

Although entertaining, I'd also submit most serious bikers do not take trick riders very seriously... regardless of their popularity among the non-legitimate racing X-gen fans. :)
Talk about timing... saw this last week on a show appropriately called "Whacked Out Sports", specializing in showing videos of people doing really stupid things. :D

I rented PGR4 yesterday and I'm already bored with it :( The events are tedious and boring, and I don't like the lack of an actual garage with cars that you own, like in PGR3. The physics are decent, graphics are good, career mode bores me.

That is one thing I do not like about the game, the fact I can't use money to buy cars. I think PGR3 did the car acquiring bit much better.

Understandable I think. The set garages are a bit annoying, but its not that big of a deal I guess. I keep waiting for the FXX and I don't have it yet... Then again, I did have to replay the game entirely, and I've just caught up to where I used to be...

I am seriously dissapointed in the length of this. PGR 3, could have lasted me forever, with going back to do it all on gold or platinum (i started on silver).
But this one, the career is completed, and the arcade is very short.
There aren't enough cars, now they have included bikes (which i hate).
And i agree with the money/garage thing, i loved that on PGR 3.

I got this thinking it would last me along time, wrong! I mean, yes i still like it, but its still dissapointing.

Oh and i hate having to do the Nurburgring, especially in the snow.

You're supposed to play the game online for replayability. I mean after unlocking the extra cars in PGR3 in single player, I spent all my time online, so about 95% of the time I played PGR3 was online.

I understand where you come from though. PGR2 had really really awesome single player and even though I didn't have Live, I still enjoyed the game for a very long time. PGR4 is really geared towards online tho.

You shouldn't have to play a game online just to get everything out of it, I'm sure quite a few people do not have Live.

Well, I thought the single-player had enough of a campaign to it to make it seem worth while. Although, I did feel like Arcade was a bit too redundant. I'd still rate it a solid 9.0, but thats just me...

I agree with you, but how else is Microsoft going to get more people to pony up $50 a year to play online. :)

In my opinion $50 a year is an acceptable amount to pay for the service it provides. I mean it's only $4.17 per month, far cheaper the say the $14.99 per month World of Warcraft or $9.99 a month Hellgate: London. And if I remember correctly there is a free version of Live with not much in the way of features.

but you can't play online with a silver live account. All you can do is use the marketplace and even then everything is delayed 3 day's to a week...

It's called Xbox Live Silver. It's free, but you can't play games online. You can download demos and stuff like that. But thats about it.

I need some help with one of the arcade races. It's the Time vs Kudos race on the tricky turns circuit with ice. It's the last gold that I need but I can't seem to get anywhere near that time. My drifting is near on perfect but I still can't do it.

Are you doing it with the proper car? I know that I can hold drifts pretty well in a car like the Merc SLR, and while I do bring the tail out in most corners, I know its fast enough that, should I waste time, it will be easy to make it up.

It was the same case with PGR3 and same deal with Halo 3 really. Same with Forza 2.

My copy of PGR4 arrived today. Now I can finish the campaign and maybe play some online multiplayer. I can also get some more pics up in my PGR4 photos thread. :)

PGR4 set for DLC explosion!

Bizarre Creations has revealed its downloadable content plans for Project Gotham Racing 4 - and by golly, it's not doing anything half-arsed.

Two 'Challenge Packs' are due on Xbox Live next month (February 14 - proper romantic, like) one for the reasonable asking price of 400 Microsoft points (about three quid) and a second for absolutely free.

The free pack comes with the hydrogen-powered 2007 Peugeot Flux, winner of the 2007 Peugeot International Design Competition. And if you don't like funny looking concept cars there are two new game modes; Tourist Mode, which lets you tool around cities checking out sights with friends, and Free Roam Cat and Mouse, where a slow mouse vehicle must avoid enemy cats.

The 'Premium' pack adds an even bigger game mode called World Challenge Arcade. This sets players with 20 arcade events in three themed chapters, including five events that can only be done on platinum, which half of us won't be able to do.

The paid package also gives you seven new cars with all kinds of numbers in their names; the 2008 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Concept, 2007 Volkswagen Golf GTI W12-650, 2007 Peugeot Flux, 1987 BMW M3 E30 DTM, 2007 Ferrari 430 Scuderia, 2008 Honda S2000 CR, and 2008 Callaway C16 Speedster.

For wierdos who use the bikes, the pack also comes with the 2007 Yamaha YZF-R1, 1995 Aprilia RS 250, and 1998 Aprilia RSV 1000 Tuono R.

Both come with ten new Achievements worth 250 Gamerpoints. Get in. Check out the screens below, and head over to Bizarre's website for even more info.
