They're back. Now pushing on cold tires and spinning to prove that the game sucks.
I don't know much about the YouTuber reviewers at all really, but I'd assume this guy(?) isn't a seasoned sim racer with years of experience? He wouldn't pick a hypercar and rev the balls out of it on cold tyres if so. At least I'd hope not. I assume he's used to something more "Arcade".

Unless of course there is an agenda, you know the clicks, likes etcetera.

Edit. I've just looked him up and he would seem to know what he's doing. If you know what I mean.

All the sudden it's supposed to be easy and you shouldn't have to setup a car? They never marketed this like that at all.
It has to be easy to get into or it won't sell. If it's supposed to be a hardcore sim and nothing else, why push it on consoles at all?
'Easy' isn't really what I said I wanted anyway. Less complicated, less hassle. Having loads of setup settings/variables with NO descriptions/explanations in game makes no sense at all. It's not even clear which apply to pads/wheels/both. And not allowing buttons to be remapped is crazy.

I've just spent a couple of hours driving the MX5 with stock setup, pad and base PS5.
30 mins at Lime Rock, new track to me, easy track, car drove ok but front left tyre was bright red within about 5 laps. Stock tyres are hard so thought that odd.
30 mins at Bathurst, familiar from GT, all ok except coming down mountain, fishtail alley.
1 hr at Nords, again familiar from GT7, wow, absolute heaven. Tempted to suggest stock setup for this car is set for this track.

Pop-in shading on trees is pretty apparent everywhere, gives a 'parting of the Red Sea' vibe as you drive along. Distracting.

Also, to others coming to this game from GT7 rather than coming the other way from sims, corner entry speed is important, you cannot go in hot and expect to get around. Ditto for abusing the grass verges, where GT lets you get away with putting a tyre or two off track at Nords, for example, this game doesn't.

Over all, FUN, but I think it'll be a case of spending a few days with an individual car, learning it and racing it before moving on to the next. Like real life maybe. Jumping from muscle to kei to Gr3 in one sitting in GT7 is easy. Jumping from class to class in PMR will require practice and patience.

I don't even think it looks that bad, sure it's no Gran Turismo, but YouTube does it no favours. It looks far better actually playing.

I think it would have been mixed, rather than wholly negative. It still has problems but some of the key things are now significantly improved and much more stable.
This is how I felt and still feel about PC2.
See, man. People keep saying it looks arcadey, but it's not when actually driving the game. The videos don't do PC2 justice.

The graphics can't compare to GT, but that's not what this is about. When "behind the wheel", the sounds bring all the senses to alert status. I'm listening to the ear piercing engine, the tyre squeal isn't as dramatic as it sounds on YouTube. The vision out of the windscreen, trying to sight my braking markers and apex and where cars are.

I'm making mistakes, yes, but correcting and paying attention to how the car behaves(especially driving any vintage race and road car), this game does well. And I use a DS4(or XB1 controller, when I'm on that system).

The videos in this thread, give them a chance. I know people upset with previous games are sceptical, within reason. I get all that. Still, those of us that have made the game work, even with flaws, see what SMS have done with what we're given.

I play more GTS than PC2. Mostly for jumping in online play and to watch prettier replays. However, when doing races like the video above, SMS have gotten it right. If Ian is saying PC3 is more of PC2, but better, I'm looking forward to it.

Is what I said below what PMR is?
Just tell me it’s a hi-res PC2 with controller feel similar to ACC out of the box. I’m fine with that.

Should be a good week of console racing for me. :)

They cram so much realistic features in the game though. Something has to be scaled back for consoles. We see it with the past PC games and AC franchise.
Yeah might not be the game for me then. I didn’t think PC2 was too bad. I guess I was just expecting it to be better. Could be YouTube making it look worse. I’ll never forget AC on console. Got it on sale, load it up, what the? Brutal! Haha. I haven’t seen much PC footage that has even enticed me much either though. Especially the replays.

I reluctant with the first AC and then the experience was wow. Seems like the same thing with PMR. Until I experience it, watch this space, I’ll having these ups and downs in this week of my posts.

Seriously though, it’s another take a breath moment for me.

I think I’m just going to wait it out and grab it on a big sale. Maybe try to get it for $50. If the YouTube videos are doing the game any graphical favours, perhaps they should do a trial version so we can see for ourselves running on console and on a 4K tv.

Question for those with Year 1 season pass: does it come with career events for the DLCs or available through mods?
It does yeah, if you purchase (in game) one of the DLC pack cars in career mode you get a whole series of championships to choose from.

I have been lapping most the cars testing the controller after the update, the AI seem to be much more aware after a few quick trials, all cars seem to drive good on controller now even the top classes apart from the GT4 cars which seem to spin out when you brake like the 911 GT3 Cup used to but this is now much better.

GT4

  • Improved default setups to all GT4 cars based on player feedback.

So it seems they changed all the set ups of GT4- can anyone else test them on controller I couldn't get round the track back end slid out even swapping all tyres and messing with the set ups.

Great news, and lot of good stuff ! sadly thrustmaster wheels still have a broken FFB (TGT2) I hope it will be fixed soon
They are listening and quick to react, this game will be fix !
